Palin to RESIGN as Alaska Governor
Real Clear Politics ^ | July 3, 2009

UPDATE: Palin To Resign As Alaska Governor UPDATE: KTUU-TV in Anchorage reports that Palin not only won't seek re-election, but will resign later this month.

ORIGINAL POST: Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has announced she will not run for re-election in 2010, CNN reports. She's scheduled to make an announcement shortly.

The decision frees Palin to travel in the Lower 48 as she considers a potential run for president in 2012. A re-election campaign could also have been tough on the former vice presidential nominee; her approval rating has dropped from stratospheric highs, and a number of candidates in both parties are said to be considering runs.

Even if she won, the race would have been dominated by the specter of a presidential bid, giving her adversaries an opportunity to wound her politically. She's still fending off ethics complaints, many spurred by the "Troopergate" scandal.

They have no legitimate arguement against her. She's been an open book & Conservatives like what they saw!!

Amen to that.

JMO, but people seem to take attacks against Palin personally, because she's a regular person and not some career beltway insider. She's like us.

The spokesperson seems to be telling us it is raining. Says Palin is a fighter. It doesn’t look like fighting to me and all my “faith” is in God, none left to spare for any political figure. And she was the brightest star up there.

I think she wants to get out there and do more of that, troops, helping with other candidates in their state elections, etc.
She is a hands on not just behind the desk person

You still didn’t answer the question. “Who are you FOR?”

He has not yet marched himself up.

It is a bit early, don't you think?

glennbeckTrue about Palin dropping out and stepping down. GOOD. Get out of the system. Be a CREATIVE extremist as MLK said.

Glenn is among the many mormons salivating because they think Romney will waltz into the nomination now.

It's Pre-ordained!

This makes more sense to me than any other speculation.

They have had it playing on the enemies turf. This is the start of the first all Internet presidential campaign, in history, run by Todd Palin himself. They will completely change the media in this country. They will become the media. They will completely ignore CBS ABC NBC CNN NYT WP. They will give no interviews. They will issue no press releases. They will not have a press spokesman. They will take their own pictures.

Sarah will have her own daily TV show, and we will all watch it, and it will be hard to ignore. She will write several books, that you will be able to read on-line for free. Everbody will cite and quote them.

Sarah will run for the presidency by talking straight to the American people with no filters, trick questions and RINO handlers. By the time 2012 rolls around, you will feel like she is your own kid-sister.

The Internet is free, and she will be all over it.

Sarah is going to kill the mainstream media all by herself, because after Todd Palin, is finished with them and becomes first husband, they will be irrelevant and will have no power anymore.

Exactly right. She couldn’t do what she wanted from a desk in Alaska. There is no doubt she has had a tremendously positive impact on Alaska. But she’s seen enough in the lower 48 to know that she can be a positive voice here as well. At the very least, she could become the female version of MLK. At the very best, she could become our Maggie Thatcher.

Sixteen seconds!

Great minds think alike, and fools seldom differ.

We'd best pick one.

ok took me a while to figure this out. Sarah is breaking the mold, she is picking the battlefield rather then let the enemy laid siege to her in Alaska. She is not quiting, she is going on the offensive, she can't do that fighting endless trivial law suits as the governor of Alaska.

That's probably why she felt she had to do this. It's going to come back to bite her in the *ss nonetheless. While "I'm going to get started by cutting and running" isn't "Meet my Brazilian mistress"-bad, it's in the "I voted for it before I flip-flopped and voted against it"-John-Kerry-league.

Pathetic?

Do you have a frickin clue what these 17 bogus complaints have cost her personally - 1/2 a million dollars to defend them!!!!

The Palin’s are not rich and the GOP sure the hell has not helped her.

She’s won every single one of the ethics complaints against her, all 17 of them. It’s not one, it’s 17 with even more promised.

She had an ethics complaint for holding a fish.
A complaint for answering reporters questions

When a legal defense fund was started in her name just like Clinton et al have, another ethics complaint was filed for that!!

These piece of crap complaints have cost the state of Alaska 3 million dollars!

They’ve almost bankrupted her family.

At least know the story before you make such ridiculous statements. I’d like to see the people on here who are calling her a quitter have to shell out $500,000 with even more complaints coming down the pike and see what they would do.

Now she’s a private citizen who can do more good for this country then sitting behind a governors desk making a yearly salary that didn’t even cover the legal bills of the first ethics complaint.

This is not the last we will see of Sarah Palin, I hope her next step is to go after the people who have tried to bankrupt her family.

Did you read or listen to her speech? "Bailing out" wasn't mentioned. It is post# 489 on this thread.

This is not the speech of a quitter. This is the speech of someone who is looking forward, to bigger and better things, for her nation.
