On Aug. 2 there came to light a birth certificate showing that Barack Obama was born in Coast General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya in 1961. It was published far and wide, but was quickly shown to be a forgery: It says it was issued by the Republic of Kenya on Feb. 17, 1964, before there was a Republic of Kenya, and when Kenya was still a British Dominion.
Who would have an interest in publishing such an obvious forgery at this time? How did the Obama birth certificate question, so widely ridiculed by both the left and the right, become a national issue?
First, a little history. It all started very innocently. Well over a year ago, rumors began to swirl about Obama’s country of origin. In response, left wing operatives over at the Daily Kos posted a Certification of Live Birth (COLB). Almost immediately, even to the layman’s eye, it was obvious that the Kos COLB had been altered.
When a brouhaha ensued in the blogosphere, the blogger, Jay McKinnon, owned up. The Israel Insider site said on July 3, 2008 that McKinnon “implicated himself in the production of palpably fake Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same Daily Kos blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.”

Maybe because it’s not such an obvious forgery? Ooh, it says ‘Republic of Kenya’! How obvious can you get? Maybe it’s too obvious, Pamela? Maybe because they called themselves a Republic when it was OBVIOUS that’s what they’d be? Hmmmmm?

People like O’Reilly blather on about how this whole issue stupid and counterproductive because it makes conservatives look like loons, and that’s exactly what Obama wants.
On the other hand, I think this “distraction” is exactly what Obama does NOT want. Especially while he’s trying to salvage his signature issue of healthcare.

The problem is I think this whole issue maybe a trap used to discredit zero’s foe.
I think people can do a lot more damage to dems talking about socialized medicine and capnkill.

If eligibility doesn’t matter in that document, then what does? If we can ignore something as fundamental as that, then what else should we also ignore . . . the Bill of Rights?
By analogy, suppose the authenticated BC said that Obama was, say, only 30 yrs old in 2008? Would that matter, or is that something else that’s just dismissed as a “distraction” in your little mind?
Nice article. Her political conclusions are completely wrong, of course.
As long as Obama fails top clear this matter up conclusively, his support will continue to evaporate until he can stand on the steps of the Lincoln Monument and scream out his soul and on one will listen, much less care.
In the meantime, I am counting the so-called “Republican” leaders who have failed to step up to the plate. The list is growing.

STILL UNVERIFIED UPDATE ON KENYAN BIRTH CERTIFICATE VALIDITY
Before reading the “affidavit” comment text below please take note that Hillary Clinton is scheduled to take what appears to be a surprise visit to Kenya today - August 3rd!
She departed Andrews AirForce Base for Nairobi, Kenya and has nothing scheduled for August 4th.
Is she rushing off to do damage control and buy the existing photos for Oba-Hussein now that the Kenyan BC has surfaced or indulging her own curiosity? Or to threaten or bribe Kitau and others into silence?
Remember that during her campaign, a lawyer who supported her for President had announced that two certified copies of the Kenyan Birth Certificate had been brought out of Kenya and were going to made available to the lawyer or Hillary campaign - but nothing came of it.

I happen to be Kenyan. I was born 1 month before Obama at Mombasa medical center. I am a teacher here at the MM Shaw Primary School in Kenya.
I compared my birth certificate to the one that has been put on by Taitz and mine is exactly the same. I even have the same registrar and format. The type is identical.
I am by nature a skeptical person. I teach science here and challenge most things that cannot be proven.
So I went to an official registrar today and pulled up the picture on the web. They magnified it and determined it to be authentic. There is even a plaque with Registrar Lavenders name on it as he was a Brit and was in charge of the Registrar office from 1959 until January of 1964.
The reason the date on the certificate says republic of Kenya is that we were a republic when the “copy” of the original was ordered.
I stress the word “copy.”
My copy also has republic of Kenya.
So what you say is true about Kenya not being a republic at the time of Obama’s birth, however it was a republic when the copy was ordered.
The birth certificate is genuine. I assure you it will be authenticated by a forensic auditor.
We are very proud Obama was born here.
We have a shrine for him and there are many people who remember his birth here as he had a white mother.
They are being interviewed now by one of your media outlets.
Fortunately they even have pictures of his parents with him immediately after his birth at the Mombasa hospital with the hospital in the back ground.
It will be a proud day for us when it is proven that he was born here and a Kenyan became the most powerful man in the world.
I encourage anyone to come here and visit.
I will be happy to take you and show you the pictures at the hospital myself as well as my document and many others that are identical to what Taitz posted.

It sure would be great if someone could find a bonafide Kenyan Birth Certificate that was issued by the “Republic of Kenya” before December 1964.
That would discredit their “not a Republic” argument.
Just sayin’...
