HOUSTON - Michael Garza's parents say they weren't sure who to believe, their 8-year-old son or his reading teacher Savonya Depland Haston.
-snip-
After Michael calls the reading teacher "ma'am," Haston is heard on the tape replying "I'm not your ma'am. If I owned you, and you were my slave, I would beat you down."
-snip
On the tape, you hear her tell the class of 7 and 8-year-olds she could have charges filed against them and their parents for lying and violating her civil rights.
"When you lie on me, I have the right to an attorney, I have the right to file charges against you and your parents. I have the right to take you straight up to the top of the Grand Jury and the federal government and file charges against your parents and garnish whatever wages are in your houses; that's the law," the reading teacher is heard on the tape telling the classroom of second graders.
So what did the Houston Independent School District decide to do about Mrs.Haston?
they need our support, not tarred & feathered with the commies they detest...
ps...we still have an annual public weekend Bible reading performed on the courthouse steps in these parts, so there is still a bit of sanity left, although not much...
‘comment self moderated’...
That’s a fair reaction. I’m sure there are good teachers out there. The problem is, how the heck do we differentiate them from the abysmal ones?
Then there’s the issue of no organized teacher revolt to what they are being demanded to participate in.
What am I as a citizen to think when it comes to the homosexual agenda and how teachers aquiess to the DOE’s directives?
Where is the open revolt to protest the devaluation of our founding fathers, our founding documents and our eroding principles?
Then there’s the issue of moral relativity and the concept that there’s no real right or wrong unless it involves homosexuality, race/diversity, the environment, or socialism?.
This is all in play and our teachers are for the most part MIA when it comes to push-back!
So yes I do understand where you are coming from. I just hope you understand my frustration and where I am coming from.
Take care...
From the city that gave us Sheila Jackson Lee, a walking embarrassment if ever there were one...
Nam Vet
Not that I would advise this for second graders, but by her own tirade, and general lack of knowledge (of our legal system, human anture, and just about anything else), *I* would address her as "hey stupid!", (although "yo, angry ho would come a close second...)
the infowarrior
she wears a platinum wig...
Having said all that, I do want to point out there are many fine, dedicated teachers - even in the public schools. I currently have no complaints about the education my three grandsons are getting in public schools in North Texas surburban schools so far, at least.
It’s only because she isn’t black...
Quannel the Tenth doesn’t want anyone else (non-black)jumping on his bandwagon...
It only makes sense, he is, and always will be, a race pimp to the highest degree...
Wonder if this whole incident will go national???
Doubtful...
Obviously she is not aspiring to her organizations goals or intent based upon that document...
“I come from the horse world where many people have a live feed on their pregnant mares for weeks or months at a time. The education and safety of our children is so much MORE important that its crazy NOT to have live feed of the class rooms.”
Heck, you can get a live feed of your dog at doggie day care...why in the heck would a parent want to check on Rufus during the day, to see that he’s happy, and not little Timmy?
Hmmmm....so that explains why so many TX students were failing the graduation test...they were taught to read by someone who can’t even speak the language.

Remember “LET ARE KIDS WALK!”
It’s terrible the teacher called the little boy “fat”.
I had a nun criticize my handwriting in 3rd grade. I can still see her looking at me and saying “You write like a boy.” This was 55 years ago and it made me self-conscious of my handwriting for the rest of my life. Can’t imagine if a teacher had called me “fat”.
I think she’s black, wearing a white wig. Or maybe bi-racial. Look at the dark circles around her eyes. Weird.
My sixth grade nun crumpled my paper up, threw it in my face and screeched, “Chicken scratch!!!” Still remember that humiliation and never did learn to write any better.
So you’re a fan of government schools? The same sort of schools that were designed from the get-go to turn out good little citizens, totally uncritical of the State? The same sort of places that Horace Mann designed to be just like their Prussian models? No kid deserves that. Private schools, home schooling, both were the NORM and both turned out some OUTSTANDING students long before the statists wrested control of the school systems from the hands of parents. So if you’re comfortable with having your kids in the hands of the teachers’ unions for a third of their lives, you go for it. Just leave MY kids and grandkids OUT of it.
Oh, and NO, no kind of “parental involvement” is going to change one whit of the teachers’ unions’ objectives. Look at where it’s been done, yet the gay/lesbian/whatever agenda still goes forward and their pushers are still pushing no matter the wishes of the parents. In fact, how many times have you seen posted to this very board horror stories of parents threatened with arrest for wanting some input into their child’s education? Get real.
Don’t forget, this is a reading teacher.
Here, here! Congratulations. All three of mine are in a public school that I’d take the Pepsi challenge with any other primary school in the country.
It’s your school. Make it what you want it to be.
