So explain why my wife goes to the doctor with fever, congestion, sore throat and cough and is treated for an upper respiratory infection with antibiotics?

This has happened also to two people I know who had it, different states. If the person is really sick lung-wise, it is probably a smart CYA for the doc in case the patient gets a secondary bacterial infection through the weakening effects of the flu. However, if the patient is breathing FINE, I'd not take the antibiotic but be glad I had the scrip in case something happened at night or on a weekend.

No, one should not prescribe antibiotics for the swine flu, but the docs have to be careful -- no one knows who the rarer worst case scenario will be. [Do I even need to say it?? BECAUSE THERE IS NO TORT REFORM AND DOCS MUST THROW ALL THE SPAGHETTI ONTO THE WALL for fear they will lose their livelihoods!]

“Something is wrong when 1,000 DEAD AMERICANS on American soil “

Not sure that I believe the number or that,if the number is real, that it was caused bu H1N1. 36K per year die of the flu in the US.

You did notice the last section about Federal Quarantines?

Here is a Q&A regarding that level of measures.

Oh...and for all, note it is by Executive Order.

As a long-time FReeper, I’ll go on the record right now as distancing myself from that, and all other nutso stuff just like it. It’s an embarrassment to FR.

Well, I'm only a few months behind you. I'll wait and see.

This administration has already taken unprecedented actions in response to an unprecedented crisis created and or facillitated, in part, over years by many of the people in this administration and their cohorts.

I am not assuming anything in regards to the lengths they will go in order to thoroughly loot this country, and totalitarianism certainly makes thorough larceny easier.

I don’t believe this one bit. I think they are calling every illness “swine flu”. My son was out for two days because of a fever and stomach bug. The school nurse was automatically calling it the “swine flu”, without any diagnosis whatsoever. Several other parents around us had similar issues with their kids, the typical vomiting and such.

The flu just outright kicks your rear-end and often has lingering effects for several days. I guess the White House isn’t willing to let this “emergency” go to waste.

If they manage to shut down and/or control the internet, we’ll be just as clueless as everyone else is....we won’t know what the hell is really going on. Which is, of course, their intent.

Honestly, if they shut down FR and internet blogs that are our ONLY source (other than Fox News) of the REAL truth....

I’ll be picking up MY pitchfork...all by myself, if necessary. I may have to be a one-woman mob, but hell....it’s still better than sitting back and watching them pull another Nazi Germany repeat. It would be just a matter of time before the “round-ups” started ANYway. And I ain’t going peacefully.

traitorousness piled on insanity piled on cluelessness piled on arrogance piled on terminal stupidity piled on hellish ambition . . . . a real piece of work.

Nice, concise description of the Narcissist-in-Chief.

Here is a Q&A regarding that level of measures. http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/facts2.htm

Oh...and for all, note it is by Executive Order.

I did not. I'll post it here for the linkage click disenfranchised:

Who is in charge

The federal government

State, local, and tribal authorities

It is possible for federal, state, local, and tribal health authorities to have and use all at the same time separate but coexisting legal quarantine power in certain events. In the event of a conflict, federal law is supreme.

Enforcement

If a quarantinable disease is suspected or identified, CDC may issue a federal isolation or quarantine order.

Public health authorities at the federal, state, local, and tribal levels may sometimes seek help from police or other law enforcement officers to enforce a public health order.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Coast Guard officers are authorized to help enforce federal quarantine orders.

Breaking a federal quarantine order is punishable by fines and imprisonment.

Federal law allows the conditional release of persons from quarantine if they comply with medical monitoring and surveillance.

Federal quarantine rarely used

Large-scale isolation and quarantine was last enforced during the influenza (“Spanish Flu”) pandemic in 1918–1919.

In recent history, only a few public health events have prompted federal isolation or quarantine orders:

During the 2003 outbreak of SARS, CDC did not issue isolation or quarantine orders. However, CDC did conduct active surveillance, visual screening of passengers, and handed out Travel Health Alert Notices.

They don’t have enough vaccine to force the reluctant to get immunized. They don’t have enough for the willing.

That is why Obama and the media have colluded to keep the extent of this epidemic in quiet mode. This is Katrina in slow motion.

If Bush were President there would be great outcry and media featuring grieving and outraged parents, and greater fear and economic slowdown as people hid in their homes.

I think the emergency status is so they can release the emergency stockpiles of Tamiflu pills that George W put away.

Newest tactic to get the so called 'health care bill' passed.

That ought to backfire, if people can be made to think.

For months, the administration has been aware of H1N1; the WHO went to level 6 (pandemic) a couple of months ago. One of the early US cases came back from Mexico with the Pres__ential entourage, and despite claims of taking care of everyone's health there is a miserable shortage of vaccine for even just those who want it.

These pikers couldn't run a hot-dog stand and they want to run health care? They have exposed their incompetence.

Dissing the Hong Kong flu?

My uncle died.

I got pneumonia after a week of terrible illness. It was pretty bad for some of us.

I haven’t missed a flu shot since. Except now. There isn’t any available. Thank you, Democrats and lawyers.
