Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.

The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.

The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

Regarding the FBI claim of no terror link , they have an interest in the PR as in not wanting to see the local mosque go up in flames while the Imam is just sorta hangin around...from a streetlight by a noose.

Also, one of the dead is a local policeman.

FWIW, the big news in Colorado Springs is that there is a unit at Ft. Carson, several soldiers from which have arrested for a number of fairly motiveless murders -- a lot of bad apples in that group. I could see something like that being the case at Ft. Hood, too.

A co-worker of mine just stated this a short while ago. Why no news coverage on them? His mention, and now yours, are the first I've heard of it.

Lt. Gen Bob Cone says that the Army asked for assistance from FBI to learn everything they can about the backgrounds of the soldiers (the one confirmed shooter, now dead, and the two other suspects).

Sounds like maybe the shooter and other suspects may be ROPers.
