That base is a major irritant in relations between the US military and an increasingly hostile local population. Rising anti-American sentiment, especially among the young, triggers frequent violent protests. US forces stationed in Korea are at mounting risk of being abused, or attacked on the streets.

I pulled the anti-Semitism card after you pulled the dual loyalty card. And anyone who believes that Liberty garbage is worthy of the canard.

What a surprise — you served the State Dept for five years in Saudi Arabia. The State Dept is notoriously anti-Israel and pro Arab. That is not in US interests but in the interests of the personnel who go on to be employed by Gulf money. You appear from your various posts to be a Saudi firster.

The bases are in Our interest because we have decided that those countries defense is our interest. It is in our interest as well to defend Israel or so we have always said. But the difference is that Israel does not require, in fact does not want, US bases or personnel. Unlike Europe, SKorea, or Japan, Israel has taken responsibility for its own defense.

I do not even agree that defense of Western Europe is in our interest. It is against our interests post USSR. We are only funding their Socialist states.

You really ought to read Victor Davis Hansen (not Israeli or Jewish I might add, not even Evangelical Christian) to gain an understanding of how things work.
