Limbaugh to Remain Hospitalized Overnight

HONOLULU -- Conservative radio talk host Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a Honolulu hospital on Wednesday afternoon with chest pains, sources told KITV.

Paramedics responded to the call at 2:41 p.m. at the Kahala Hotel and Resort.

Rush Limbaugh AP Image Rush Limbaugh Limbaugh, 58, suffered from chest pains, sources said. Limbaugh was sitting in a chair in his ninth-floor hotel room at the Kahala when emergency crews arrived, sources said. He told medical crews that he was taking medication for a back problem, sources said.

Paramedics treated him and took him to Queen's Medical Center in serious condition. He will not be released from the hospital on Wednesday night, sources said.

He was seen golfing at Waialae Country Club earlier this week. The country club is next to the Kahala Hotel and Resort.

The radio show host had been in the islands during the holidays. Coincidentally, his visit comes at a time when two of the nation's most powerful Democrats, President Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, are also staying in Hawaii.

In 2001, Limbaugh received a cochlear implant after he suddenly lost hearing due to autoimmune inner ear disease. Limbaugh underwent treatment in 2003 for an addiction to prescription painkillers, including Lorcet, Norco and hydrocodone.

I’m glad yours got through. Others will need to try again later. It appears they’ve since disabled the system for a bit.

Have you ever had a really bad back problem? My uncle was in an offshore explosion several years ago. The explosion was so powerful he landed through an open shaft onto a beam, which ruined his back. After several years of therapy, drugs, and surgeries nothing worked, so a morphine pump was put into the back in order to relieve the pain enough for him to sleep and walk on occasion.

So until you’ve gone through what another has gone through then don’t judge the person. In this cynical accusatory world we need to pray for those who are going through such tough times.

If someone is suffering from pain, and I mean REALLY hurting, what are they supposed to do? Suffer?

My wife suffers from constant pain, due to a back problem, which required surgery (didn't do much good, if any at all), and a fibromyalgia/arthritis problem (fuzzy diagnosis, different specialists say different things, from Lupus, Fibro, Rheumatiod arthritis, to Lyme disease!). She is in constant pain. It is very sad. She has been on all the pills, and each one of them has its side effects. Currently, we rotate her pain meds, in order to keep up their effectiveness and avoid addiction problems. So I feel bad for Rush, just hope he stays healthy!

Taking medication for a back problem. Hmmmm, he isn’t back on the “pills” again, is he? I hope this man is OK, America needs him.

President Obama is entitled to medical confidentiality, as is every citizen of the country. You give up certain rights to privacy as a public figure but not your right to medical confidentiality. For the media to drop that juicy little gossip nugget just reminds me that journalism is sadly a dishonorable profession.

And you are correct friend; we need Rush more than we ever have, and he himself recognizes this. Rush will take care of himself so he will be able to continue to provide leadership for the conservative movement and help preserve the principles on which this country was founded.

If Rush does require real open-heart surgery, he could afford to bring in the best surgeons and they could operate right there at that hospital if necessary. Fortunately, today's heart surgery is so advanced that he could be back on the job within three weeks!

He told medical crews that he was taking medication for a back problem, sources said.

This must be a recent event, since he's said on his show for the last couple of weeks that he's been standing up to relieve pressure on his back, rather than resort to medication.

As for the chest pain, I know GURD can cause it. Can also be a sign of a pulmonary embolism. So depending on test results, he may just be in the hospital and they decide it wasn’t a coreonary event.

Maybe Rush can help clarify something on Obama's past while he's there ...
perhaps have one of his Staff can wander around the basement at Queens Medical Center, with some folding cash.

Glad he is staying in the hospital overnight, that way he can be monitored closely.

And when no one is looking, perhaps he can sneak into their record room and check on BO's birth certificate. ;-)
