“According to Fox, about 10,000 present, but just 2400 voted.”

Just found a CNN article that said the same thing, and the pdf document summarizing the CPAC votes also said 2400 voted. This is NOT a representative sample of CPAC.

CPAC wants to make money. You buy a ticket and you can attend and vote. It’s all about money.

Ron Paul does seem to be one of the most Conservative Republicans around, it's just his ridiculous foreign policy that ruins him for me.

Ryan Sorba called out a Jeff Frazee during his short pro-conservative values speech—Frazee is the executive director of a Ron Paul group called YAL (Young Americans for Liberty).

Thanks for that information, dear pillut48. I knew Frazee had a connection to PR. I didn't know it was so close!

I'm in the middle of Craig Shirley's fantastic book on the 1980 campaign and all the "inside baseball" stuff on all this. A great look back on how touch and go it was for the Gipper.

Reagan was toast until just before the NH voting and all the polls nationwide showed him in deep trouble. Dick Wirthlin had some inside polling that showed it turning around at the last minute after Reagan's barnstorming and the debate debacle ("I paid for this microphone Mr. Green!"). It was the Bush campaign's big screw-up.

It was a close call.

LOL. Good, if he’s the new leader, then perhaps the news media can go after Ron Paul and leave Sarah alone.

Check the results from CPAC 2008

(1,558 votes cast): Romney 35%

McCain 34%

Huckabee 12

Paul 12

Undecided 5

Other 1

Looks like a bigger turnout than in 08...

We’re sort of arguing over whether he was mad at him or didn’t like him - not worth the bandwith, I think. I’m just trying to convince people that RP is on “our side” so much more than he gets credit for.

I frequently mention my trip to the d.c. area in Dec. For 50 miles you drive through the crystal palaces of companies that are sucking of favors to the gov’t and in Arlington, they’re building miles of new condos and business is booming. On my last day there, I saw the article in Anti-USAToday about the gov’t employees and their huge salaries. I told my boss later that it was a good thing I was leaving as I didn’t think I could contain myself much longer (I was in a course on gov’t regs with many gov’t employees in attendance).

RP wants to cut the mechanisms (agencies and dept’s full of unelected bureaucrats) that suck all that money out of the rest of the country and fatten the wallets of gov’t and their suck-ups. You never hear any “conservatives” talk that way anymore and that’s sad.

I view this as a positive for two reasons”

1. It makes CPAC look like a total joke, which it's become

2. Mitt works so hard to win this every year, distributing promotional items, etc. RINO columnists have been praising him and bashing Palin for the past two weeks, figuring he will come out looking strong and this happens.

I agree ... sickening.

I guess Keene getting caught with trying to
charge a million/or millions for endorsing Fedex
.. is now selling out CPAC for $$ to the disturbed.

~~~~
This is absolutely bizarre. John Ziegler, Documentary Producer and last year’s co-host of the Western CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) event, was invited to speak on a panel at this year’s event.
He accepted, and scheduled a time to interview CPAC Chairman David Keene. He wanted to question Keene about his support of Arlen Specter (Noted RINO who just recently bolted back to the Democraps), Keene’s recent critical statements about Sarah Palin, and most notably, about CPAC’s contradictory statements to FedEx that appeared to curry CPAC’s favor towards Fedex — for a million dollar price.
Mr. Keene, who is seen on the third video talking about “working with people you don’t like sometimes” and how we all have to work together, threatens to punch John Ziegler, and calls him various obscenities, and has him physically thrown off the premises by the most skinny, weasly security guard ever (who promises to identify himself, then refuses later.) CPAC even calls the local cops on Ziegler, who fortunately turn out to be fans of Ziegler’s.
This is, frankly, unbelievable. Suddenly I’m extremely interested in this whole FedEx business. Watch for yourselves,a Ziegler narrates a good tale:
Video:
In the second video, Ziegler is dis-invited from the panel, then ignored when he tries to get clarification. The cops get called.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnDQmIKq_kw&feature=player_embedded
In the third video Keene makes his hypocritical speech, the weaselly security guard is introduced, the friendly cops arrive, and Ziegler sums up nicely.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HpSMKTf3ME&feature=player_embedded
Gateway Pundit sums up:
Keane, who was a big supporter of Arlen Spector, talks about supporting true conservatives and “not selling out” during his lunch speech Then the organizers bash Ziegler from the stage and aggressively escort him out of the building even though he was one of the vendors at the event.
What an embarrassment– for CPAC.
John Ziegler is right. This is like something you’d expect from democrats.
It’s time to weed the garden folks.
I completely agree. CPAC has just lost all my support and attendance.
~Johnny~
~~~

Crystal clear and savvy that Palin didn’t attend.
