Walmart Greeter
email

Posted on 03/13/2010 8:29:51 PM PST by BulletBobCo

Charley, a new retiree greeter at Wal-Mart, just couldn't seem to get to work on time.

Every day he was 5, 10, 15 minutes late. But he was a good worker, really tidy, clean-shaven,

sharp minded and a real credit to the company and obviously demonstrating their

"Older Person Friendly" policies.

One day the boss called him into the office for a talk. "Charley, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic, you do a bang up job, but your being late so often is quite bothersome."

"Yes, I know boss, and I am working on it."

''Well good, you are a team player. That's what I like to hear. It's odd though you're coming in late. I know you're retired from the Armed Forces. What did they say if you came in late there?"

"They said, 'Good morning General, can I get you coffee, sir?'''

Once a day.

And it takes care of that unintended acceleration problem.

My husband is about to be promoted to Sgt. Major. (Yes, I'm very proud!)

He fantasizes about being a Walmart greeter.

He threatens to stand in front of Home Depot with a sign that reads “Will work for wood.”

Sometimes, after decades of breaking your back at a very high-demand job, it's a real treat to mindlessly push carts or wave “hello”. In "the real world", if an employee gets a DUI on Saturday night, you don't give a crap as long as he shows up on Monday morning. Heck, you probably won't even know about it. In the military, if one of your privates gets a DUI, *YOU* will be the one who gets the call at 2AM to deal with the situation. It's like being a parent to hundreds of teenagers for twenty years. Yes, there are a LOT of ex-military who'd be happy greeting people at Walmart. (I know my husband thinks it will be a real hoot.) They also stock our hospitals and soup-kitchens with volunteers.

I worked once waiting tables in a little hotdog lucheonette. A friend owned it and her helper broke her leg. I went in on weekends until she came back.. and had the best time of my life at a job...didn’t have to take it home in my head either! It was grand!

I loved it and love Walmart and the thought of a General working there makes Walmart even better because it shows that the store is not snotty organization that you would liek it to be apparently. Go Walmart!!! (Yes I do have stock with them, but even if I didn’t, I still love the store).

Before dinging on this too bad.... Being retired myself (from the Nav) I have a friend of the family that he and his wife (A retired Marine LtCol, pilot, her a prior Army Nurse Corps officer) decided when he retired they would get a job at Disney Land just to do what they wanted.

Besides it's just a joke.

Kinda like

" They are polite and educated "

One female Greeter at Store # 2007, Moses Lake, WA is not always polite. In fact, she can be down-right rude.

Marie, tell your husband that being a Wal-Mart Greeter is a really fun job. I just started my 13th year of doing that very thing. Getting to know your customers is a blast.

Marie,
Becoming a U.S. Sgt. Major is no easy deal.
He has had to clean up after multitudes of dumb ass officers as well as baby sit other multitudes of enlisted.
He is an American Hero and I’d bet the farm it has not been easy being his wife and the mother of his kids. Often away.
Thanks to your whole family.

My dad retired in his mid 50’s and moved to Florida. He never told us but rumor had it his last few years he was taking home mid six figures. THen he took a job delivering X-rays for a hospital lab, then he delivered the Wall Street Journal. My brother always told him that he’d really like to see his resume. Each job went lower in pay.

I think you're right about the WWII awards. Had my friend still been alive I think I would have written the newspaper and made a comment about the WWII Nurses who served.

Yes, I've written you often, telling you that illegals had been caught here. There have been some wild chases and they often stop their cars, trucks, and run off into the brush. Some get away if it is a large group.

Don't think Obama has anything to do with it here as it has been an ongoing thing for years. Local Police and Sheriffs do the job.

[WHERE is "around here"??? ]

'Around here' is my area of 'south central Texas'.

Highway 77 comes up from Matamoros. From there they head off for San Antonio or continue on heading for Austin, Waco or east to Houston.

They go right through my town. A small town called Refugio, which is south of me, has a knack for spotting illegals. If they get by there they are often stopped in my town area. Often.

Headline in Monday's newspaper said;
40 illegal 'immigrants' detained from two stops

Authorities in my area were contacted by Refugio at 2AM. Three vehicles were involved and the persuit continued until 8:30AM. Border Patrol transported them to Corpus Christi.

.

I believe the difference between GW and Obama is that the Bush family has long had their own personal and/or religious reasons for being pro-illegal and pro-amnesty - Jeb Bush even met and married a Mexican woman and had children

Obama is a naked radical Communist / Socialist from his early days and put his beliefs and agendas into his books - which he and the radical liberal democrats later glossed over - the social / political plan(s) to recruit hispanics (and others) outside the USA to boost their voting numbers - as democrat couples have about .75 replacement children; Republicans have about 1.13 replacement children - and democrats promote the abortion and population control of lower income class blacks - necessitating the quick and dirty replacement and party growth through illegal aliens, anchor babies, lax enforcement, illegally offering free bennies, sanctuary cities

Obvously personal financial factors gain are involved - as with Senator John McPain and Congress Nanzi Pelosi

- I thought I was correct about America’s WWII woman vets -
