I am also a 53 year old guy, been laid off from my job since december 12th last year.
I have been going to work which is a concrete batch plant thats been shut down during the winter up here in Alaska and performing my daily maintenance duties for free in the hope that I will be put back to work earlier.
The owner just does not have even a reserve funding to pay me part time wages right now, and I have been working for them for 15 years, I have pretty much built the place and it would be near impossible to find someone with my abilities.
But here in Wasilla, Alaska there are almost no jobs right now, there is in Anchorage but its too expensive fuel wise to commute, I have a new Yamaha 1300 cruiser I could ride but cannot as yet because of the icy roads, so all I can do now is hibernate, draw UI checks and wait.
