OK, so before I get started I have to tell everyone here that JD Hayworth reads what we post here. And he REMEMBERS! LOL! I am a JD supporter, and several months ago when I met him for the first time, he told me he likes to come here to FreeRepublic and read what we have to say. I was going to have him come here, but I never followed through, which was my fault. However, I have been hard on him in recent weeks.
I have to say that because Mohave County, where I live, is so conservative, conservative candidates take us for granted. Mohave County is NOT McCain land, so it's hard for me to gauge what's really going on around the State. I hadn't seen many JD ads and frankly, McCain is spending all his money attacking (in a very ugly manner) Hayworth. If everyone in Mohave would get off their asses and vote, we'd sway this election and there'd be no more Senator McCain. But we all know that's not the way it works.
However, someone high up in Republican politics from Phoenix told me the other day that she believes JD has a very strong chance as she knows NOBODY who is voting for McCain. So although I don't see the campaign too much here in Mohave, I understand now that he has been working really hard in Maricopa where elections are won and lost. That made me feel better as I slipped into my seat at the Mohave County Republican Picnic today.
I saw Hayworth and went over to say hello. The first thing he did was hug me and then ask me why I've turned on him! (Of course, this was all done with a smile on both our faces)...He proceeded to recite back to me some of the things I've written here on FR. LOL! I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT I WRITE FROM DAY TO DAY..the guy has an incredible memory!
So, I know he's reading this now, and I have to tell you that he must have taken his "adorable pills" because he was sweet and adorable and NOT bombastic like I have said in the past!
Seriously, the bottom line is we must defeat McCain. If only that Jim Deakins (who is a nut and I hope he's reading this too) would have done the right thing and stepped aside, I'd feel much better about everything today.
My support for JD has never swayed. I support him, I'm voting for him and I am asking everyone from Arizona to vote for him on Tuesday.

Some ask how McCain can be doing as well as he is in this race..is it the 20 plus million dollars he’s spent on distorted ads to defeat a legitimate opponent....he certainly didn’t do that to beat Obama and the democrats!!!

$500 to McCain several times was given by John Hurley, ceo GEO, who contributes BIG to the open border loving RNC and Charlie Christ.
NOTE: Remember just a few days ago the prisoners who escaped one of McCain’s donor’s private prisons in AZ??? This is a big scam to house illegal aliens and they are notorious for problems within them.
Lying is McCain’s hole card, always has been. By the time this election started, McCain had reinvented himself and his campaign website...’I’ve never been for amnesty, blah,blah, blah....’. He went so far in Tuscon recently to declare“President Reagan granted amnesty to two million people and that was wrong,”

He does NOT seem like an Arizonan whatsoever. Not even after all these years. Wearing his baseball hat and walking along the border fence (probably Photoshopped, ha), gritting his mouth while he spits out lies, he looks like the biggest fake.
If he was going to just take what people gave for the presidential run, what that 20 million to win a primary could have done to help conservative candidates.... For example, here in CD8 where whichever guy (unless the RNC coughs up more) runs against Gabby Marxist Girl will have mere thousands compared to her 1.9 million war chest .
Hayworth won by 57,000 votes in ’04 and lost by 8,000 in ’06. Those voters came out by the thousands to defeat Sailor boy, voting Hayworth to drive the point home. They stayed home by the thousands when it was Hayworth by his blustering lonesome.
If you are ever at a function with McCain in attendance, watch who he is surrounded by, who he greets by name, who he is comfortable with. First are the Mormons, who have been his constituents since ’82. Third are the ex-military who he courts and is relaxed with. The second group are the proprietorships and management class, mainly from North Phoenix, medical, real estate and financial. These are the same voters that abandoned Hayworth in ’06. A large segment of this type voter lean Republican but are unhappy with the party for one reason or another. They register Independent and do not concern themselves with party matters.
Forty percent of the independents are not going to vote in the primaries. There may be an uptick but nothing major. McCain will win with 20+, my guess around 24, with the upside belonging to McCain.. That’s just his solid base. An insurgency, any insurgency, is good for the party but they take a backseat to basic politics. If McCain was in trouble we would have seen Romney back. We didn’t.
It ain’t over till it’s over. All ya gotta do is vote!

I’m going to hold on to this post of yours. Although it makes sense and is well thought out, I think you’re missing the big picture this year, and that’s the tea party movement that is bringing people out in droves...they will vote for JD (Or, I hate to say it, Deakins whom I loathe.) and they will vote in the primary. I hope I can come back on Wednesday and say, “I TOLD YOU SO!!!.”
I will always remember and admire McCain as giving of himself for his country, but it's time to put slow to act and tired ideas out to pasture. That's not an insult, as champion race horses take the same path after a stunning career. There is no shame in knowing when to retire.
JD Hayworth just seems to fit the seat comfortably. He needs to show leadership with dignity, honesty, be available to his constituents and lend an ear--there needs to be no "personal battle" of words between the two candidates, it only turns off the voter. Voters are tired, they want a future for themselves and their families that they can believe and trust in. I'ts time to vote into office those that can kick start this country back into being a proud, but humble, economic super power once again.
That's how I see it, Hildy.
Having run against Romney in the presidential primaries and with accompaning reports of bad blood between them, it was crucial for McCain to have a show of solidarity with Romney. Romney's endorsement released a lot of money that was on the sidelines and, more importantly, allowed party machinery to kick in with hundreds of the faithful going to work for McCain to one degree or another. It was Romney's appearance that clinched it for McCain, not Governor Palin's. If McCain was in trouble with the base, Romney would have been back.
Hayworth didn't help any when, at about the same time, he came out with his "I saw Jesus" remarks. In the West that is code for anti-Mormon.
I’d rather be at a tailgater with J. D. He’s a big, friendly bullsitter but I can’t shake the feeling that he’s going with the flow. He says all the words in the right order to the point that it sounds programmed. Given time, maybe, but not now.
It’s difficult to measure what effect the tea party movement will have. Ordinarily I could tell you how the vote would go, county by county, precinct by precinct and sometimes household by household. I can’t this time but I really don’t think that the tea party will have that much impact by the way that the campaign has shaped.
How said, J.D. did all he could, and he won the debates. But he has found that the people of AZ are as immovable as the Grand Canyon that they claim to revere.
I've no doubt, really, that the well-being of the Republic is a high priority for Senator McCain.
It's probably right there behind the well-being of Senator McCain...
