Black Republicans offer hope after Barack Obama's failures on race
Telegraph ^ | 09 Oct 2010 | Toby Harnden

Posted on 10/09/2010 3:39:04 PM PDT by george76

The Obama presidency has not led to a post-racial America, says Toby Harnden, but black Republicans in Congress could help break down barriers .

Campaigning a few miles from Fort Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired in 1861, Tim Scott described last week how he was born into poverty and a broken home, much like Barack Obama.

But the conclusions that Scott, 45, drew were very different from those of Obama. When he was 15, a man who ran a Chick-fil-A fast-food restaurant taught him "that there was a way to think my way out of the worst conditions". Scott went on to became a small businessman and a proud "conservative Republican".

Barring a cataclysmic upset, Scott will be elected to Congress on November 2nd. There, he will be a ferocious opponent of Obama, to whom he gives a withering "failing grade" for his presidency.

"Obamacare's an atrocity around the necks of average Americans," he told me. "His intentions might be good but he's leading us towards the brink of bankruptcy. Right now, the American people are simply saying they've had enough."

Scott will be the first black Republican congressman from the Deep South in more than a century. Republicans hope to elect at least two other black candidates to Congress next month. Allen West, in Florida, and Ryan Frazier in Colorado, both with distinguished military records, are in very close races against Democrats.

Obama made history by winning the White House. But it will take the likes of Scott to break down the racial barriers in America that the first black president has been content to leave in place.

Why not “Republicans offer hope”?

America has had enough of Barry and his bigot Attorney General Eric Holder referring to the public at large as a “nation of cowards” if we do not agree with their incompetent handling of issues.

Project 21: http://www.nationalcenter.org/P21Index.html

it is a disgrace the GOP has not bent over backwards to “integrate” these intelligent, articulate, brave black-conservative-Americans who unabashedly tell people that liberalism has been a scourge for blacks in this nation and the country as a whole...

All real Republicans will listen carefully during a primary campaign to any genuine Republican seeking the nomination for the House,Senate.Governorship and the White House regardless of race, gender, etc. For example,I easily would have voted for Condelleza Rice over Mr McLame in the '08 primary had she been a candidate. And,of course, had she been the nominee I easily would have voted for her over *any* RAT...black...white...male...female.

This story is an indication that Europeans, even well meaning ones, cannot fully understand this country or our politics.

Are you saying that the blacks are incapable of doing it themselves?

That they can only accomplish something with outside help?

There is a name for such a person.

lol- no; you’re putting idiot thoughts out there....

these conservative Americans should be brought in by the party hierarchy to combat obama...

you know the way people complain you never hear the voices of moderate muslims??? in this instance you have loud voices of black conservatives yelling about the dangers of liberalism, and they just need a bigger podium, which the GOP can provide...

btw- google Deneen Borelli speech at the 9-12 March on Washington and you’ll understand what i mean....she lives down the road from me- i called the local GOP office, which is typically dysfunctional like many in the party, pleading with them to get in touch with her- they never heard of Deneen or Project 21...

18 months ago the GOP never heard of the Tea Party either.

Why I am a black Tea Party patriot opposed to Barack Obama

Obama is a signal to America. This is what can happen when twinkle-toed, skittle-pooping unicorns gain power.

It's not over yet, but, God willing, good judgment will once again gain the upper hand.

It's as if we didn't learn from Jimmie Cahter. Skittle poopers need to stay in their bathhouses and classrooms!

En guarde, Americans! Stay alert!

exactly!!!

and the way the old guard of the GOP keeps their distance from us Tea Party members is comparable to the way they keep their distance from Project 21- and they do so to the short term detriment of the party and long term detriment of themselves!!

Why do we need “black” republicans? Any small government fellow is fine with me, whether they’re black, pink, polka dot or striped.

How about Corsican, one-legged, pink-haired democrats? Where are they?

Because they obviously love freedom and care
about this country, the tyrant and his comrades
try to divide us by playing the race card, the
more the better, and it’s very encouraging and
EXTREMELY hopeful, especially in these days
when, according to a recent poll, 91% of black
Americans allegedly support the tyrant !!

Why not “Republicans offer hope”?

Because it IS about race, regardless of what either side says. We have our first half black president who is a failure of epic proportions, then we have Clarence Thomas, JC Watts and others who are marginalized by not only white liberals but blacks who can't think past next month's welfare check. It's about race. It will always be about race because that's how race baiters like Sharpton and Jackson live well.

"Tim Scott described last week how he was born into poverty and a broken home, much like Barack Obama. "

Good Night!!

Barack Obama was not born into poverty. He was raised by his grandmother, Vice President of the largest bank in Hawaii, and attended the Pounahou School, the most prestigious private school in the state of Hawaii.

Black Conservative Tea Partiers give the LIE to the propagandists’ narrative of the Tea Party movement. As such these guilty white liberals HATE black conservatives vehemently.

They are such racists. They should double over in their white guilt. But they won't. Which leads me to think that they're disingenuous. Yup. And liars.
