Many of us made our disgust known to Omaha Steaks for their clear political agenda driven decision to pull their advertising from Glenn Beck's show.
They initially sent several of us an email defending their decision and NOW they've sent a new email from the president, essentially saying, 'no, no, no'.....that's not what we really meant.
I guess they've really felt the heat from us! Below is the new email...
Their steaks are not that good. Just go to Costco and get a good sirloin for much less.
With a side of silver beet you can kill an Omaha wolfman too.
I can’t believe the number of people on here singing the praises of mail-order meat.
To me, that’s like a mail-order bride. I don’t care what the picture looks like, you know that ain’t what your getting.
Costco has some of the best steaks I’ve ever had.
For $50, ON SALE, you get a selection of meats. Piece priced out, you'd pay about that much at Kings Soopers. Costco is cheaper and better quality. Full price... no way. Think that full price was $75 for the same selection.
Their meat is nothing to write home about either. Decent quality. But not top grade. Truly a rip off.
My approach: all things equal, if I can get the same product elsewhere for the same price and quality, and the one supplier is playing politics and the other isn't, I choose the later.
I did this with Best Buy, too — between my Dad and me we have spent thousands of dollars over the past year on electronic gadgetry and we have been able to buy everything from Ultimate Electronics. Too bad for BB.
You have a website where you can order their stuff?
Bang!
Nope. I’m not buying it.
Wow - I am usually on top of things like this (thanks to FR)....current events and the like - but I totally missed this one. I am so glad I ran across this - as I was just getting ready to place an order from Omaha Steaks for a Christmas gift for my parents. I had no idea about any of this. Thanks for posting!! Now - I’ll have to figure something else out.
They have every right to advertise where they like and we have every right to decide how we want to spend our dollars. If I have a choice to spend my money on a company that supports the things and people I do, and one that supports the opposite side, I’m going to pick the first one.
I say this as someone who, unlike a lot of posters, buys a lot of Omaha Steaks. I’m glad this was posted as I don’t wish to support a company who supports things I don’t.
Old meat that you stick in the freezer, cook one day, and wonder why anyone buys it.
No, not cheap, but nothing else local gives the same quality for the price. And it's on par or better than Omaha or some other place we used to get mail from.
So, hows the last weekend of March sound?
The grass should be high and the cows should be fat...
That eartag is for numbers, not names!!!!! ( inside joke )
We cut them up before freezing as well. We don’t do the “dry aging” thing though. What is that all about?
We are trying HARD to make our permanent move out there by February, in which case we’ll be getting another couple of calves from my source out there.
We don't add any spices or topping; just salt and pepper.
Need to get the timing right, though. The roast cooks a lot faster than expected. We have a meat thermometer so it doesn't get overcooked. Probably because it isn't frozen and due to the convection cooking.
I bet you can find a local producer who can help you.
Or, you could find a producer near your parents place who is willing to help. Might be cheaper to have your dad/mom pick it up locally...
Well good for you, I'm sure your decision and others around here based on this internet war against Omaha are intended to reduce revenues to Omaha so as to "make your point"......If successful, I'm sure the apolitical employees who just may be conservatives are really going to appreciate it if they lose their jobs due to this unwarranted attack against Omaha........
The company will survive but if there is a loss in revenues then the first to go are the employees, regardless of their political affiliation........
Unintended Consequences....
Would you also recommend voting for the Democrat because some Republican citizens of a district could suffer economic loss if a senior Democrat was replaced by a freshman Republican?
