With our CIC on whose side?
The Suez Canal currently is where a third of the worlds oil and six percent of all products passes through.”
Only a couple percent of the world’s oil supply flows through the Suez as opposed to the Strait of Hormuz where roughly 20# of the world’s total supply passes. Still, any disruption probably would send oil past that $110 region noted.
From the sound of things Mubarak is toast. Probably the quicker he steps down the better as hanging on only creates more instability and chaos which opens the door wider for the hard core Islamists to slip in.
Was chatting about the Suez Canal security situation.
Here’s what we came up with,
Steal 5 full size dumptrucks and one front loader. Fill the dumptrucks up with 15 tons of boulders. Drive the 5 dumptrucks to one of the maintenance access ramps then along the levee, and drive them all into the canal at the same location.
The canal would be shut down for unknown amount of time as the Army sources winches and transportation for the winches to the locations of approximately 95 tons of boulders and heavy dumptrucks in the canal.
Would take less than a night to fill the trucks if they had access to a quarry... there are abandoned quarries that are decades and millenniums old along the canal zone.
Could be done with as little as 6 men, with one knowing how to use a front loader and then driving the getaway vehicle, and 5 knowing how to drive a commercial dumptruck.
no..no..no..you mean the Panama Canal..chrissy matthews said last nite that the Panama Canal is in Egypt..libs are never wrong..thank you..
let’s party like it is 1956.
Too bad Israel didn’t keep control of the area !
This is moving along quite rapidly...
...wouldn’t be orchestrated in advance, now would it?
The Army is focused on providing basic security in the cities right now...the regime is collapsing.
The Generals need to announce that Mubarak is out and they will head an interim government until the fall when elections can be held.
Then go out and kill every one of the MB they can find.
Uh, ok...about time to send in the Marines. Play time is over.
Escher couldn't have drawn it better.
Crikey, who WOULDN’T get involved if they do?
Tribes, no problem. Round up all their camels and goats and shoot them then give them blankets infested with smallpox. Then go stake out a square of useless desert land and put them there and tell them to eke out a living. Oh, no Casinos this time. This has already been tested and found to work. (sarcasm of course)
The United Nations should be dismantled if it fails to protect the Suez Canal from sabotage or blockades.
This is an international life-line.

Ships were scuttled there in 1956 during the Israeli and British action against Egypt, and again in 1967 when Israel captured Sinai. They were removed when Israel and Egypt signed a peace accord. Suez is really not all that important.
(Obama should be working on asylum MO's for Mubarrak; encouraging him to step down; which he would more readily do, if he has guarantees and a place to go}. Or. . .just tell him to go; but tell him where. . .
(This is the world w/o 'free world' Leadership; thanks to Obama, sitting in America's White House_ Formerly where Leadership of the Free World resided.)
Ah. We just finished our afternoon ‘what-if’ scenario (as in, what if we go south and get called off to the Middle East.) This is exactly what happened. And then we got deployed to the Suez Canal.
Glad to see everything is going on schedule..
...all this turmoil is cutting into the $$$ action in smuggling...... no tolerance for the low-life criminal element along the Negev.
