And just how much credit does Perry really deserve for that? To hear some talk, you'd think Perry was responsible for Spindletop and the fact that Texas has no state income tax.
The primary reasons for Texas' economic success precede Rick Perry by many decades.

I’m sorry, but I have to respond to shallow arguments like this one. Sarah endorsed Perry to retain a job he already had - the weakest constitutional governorship in the nation - over an awful inside the beltway hag who Sarah had a personal rift with. Besides, she and RP were fellow governors. That’s hardly worth bringing up in context of Sarah and Perry and the 2012 Presidential Race.
She also endorsed John McCain in 2010 for an office he already had. McCain and her had a relationship as you might remember. These are called courtesies, and nothing more should be read into them. These are not at all like the total unknown’s she endorsed and made viable simply by her endorsement.
Now, if she comes out and endorses Perry for President and does so strongly, that’s another thing altogether. But until then, the 2010 endorsement over Hutchinson is totally irrelevant.

Uh, maybe, um, because now is the PRIMARY SEASON -when we are SUPPOSED TO VET OUR OWN SIDE??? And maybe because Perry, with boots, a drawl, good hair, and being pro-life, has the ability to fool folks into thinking he’s a much better candidate than he is? So I don’t know, but MAYBE that’s why we’re having these discussions now? Just a wild theory on my part though.
(now, if Perry is the nominee and Freepers are having these discussions in late October 2012 — that’s another thing altogether....)

THOUGHT EXPERIMENT:
Let me ask, and I’m being sincere and not snarky - do you really think if Perry and Romney had been in the same state, that there would be any difference in them at all? I see Perry being an Al Gore guy, actively, as an adult—in TEXAS. I see Mitt being liberal on some issues, as an adult, but in Massachusetts.
All I’m saying is this; is there really any reason to think that once in Washington DC, that Perry would be any different - if not worse - than Mitt in Washington DC. Dorothy, we ain’t in Boston nor Austin anymore....
Point being, I am just as wary of Perry as I am of Mitt, because Texas is Texas and Mass is Mass......and again, I’m simply throwing a theory out there.

That is why we have BHO in the White House, IMHO. Some of Barry’s voters actually saw him as a new Messiah. Do some of the Freepers here behave in the same manner - expecting a perfect man/woman as the candidate? Again, I say, enough already. Our candidates are so much better than Obama, that we need to be encouraging all dialogue between our candidates until the cream of the crop rises, so to speak.
Quit bashing our candidates.

I think that may be the tricky part. He sounds good. So did GW Bush. If you like Bush you will love Perry. Open borders, Bilderberg meetings, Mexican trucks continuing to toodle down our highways etc. etc.
But I predict if Perry jumps in the race he will win the nomination. He just looks so darn presidential.

He’ll be another candidate to watch what they do, not what they say.
He’ll tell you what you want to hear.
And the whole country will have to come to a stand still while he fixes his hair.
There are a LOT of Texans - me included - who grew up as a (d) in our early years. Heck, I even voted for the peanut farmer. We found our way out of the darkness when we found out how corrupt the (d) party was and turned to the (R) party instead.
Because at some point we are going to have to start pointing out what the hell is WRONG with ODUMBO.
