The power of Palin: Don't count out the snowbilly from Alaska
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | July 3, 2011 | Jack Kelly

Posted on 07/03/2011 11:06:27 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Bristol Palin told Fox News her mother has made up her mind about running for president, but Sarah Palin told The New York Times she's still thinking about it.

According to the conventional wisdom, it may be too late for her to run. Ms. Palin's done no fundraising, hasn't built a campaign team. Republicans who supported her are drifting to active campaigns, chiefly that of Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota.

The conventional wisdom is more conventional than wise. Candidates start early to build name recognition and need a campaign organization to get supporters to the polls.

Sarah Palin has 3.2 million followers on Facebook -- about 800,000 more than all the declared GOP candidates combined. Palinistas tend to be the sort who would crawl over ground glass to vote for her. She has less need of a get-out-the-vote operation than any political figure in modern times.

The Republican National Committee's new rules favor late entrants. There will be more delegates in 2012 than ever before. A higher proportion will come from heavily Republican states. All but a handful will be selected after March 1. In the four February contests, 129 delegates are at stake -- 23 fewer than in Texas alone.

Delegates in the early states must be selected by proportional representation, the RNC says. So whoever wins these contests probably will wind up with fewer than half. After March 1, delegates may be selected on a winner-take-all basis.

The early contests are unlikely to produce a clear frontrunner, but will winnow the field. This is most important for debates. It's stretching the term when seven or eight candidates are on stage. Cut the field to three or four, and debates have real meaning....

I believe that Sarah Palin is a modern day Esther, but independents decide elections nowadays. Can she win over the indies?

I think Sarah is smart enough to see Obama for who he truly is, and can see through his evil agenda of trying to destroy the world, with his Homosexual Agenda and trying to end the Divine Institution of *Marriage*

THE DAYS OF NOAH:
Ironically, Jesus said in Luke 17:26-30, “And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when Son of man is revealed.”

The rabbis wrote in the Midrash Rabbah Genesis that the flood in Noah’s day was primarily triggered when males starting writing marriage deeds with other males, and between men and beasts (bestiality). Based on the account of Midrash Rabbah Genesis, same-sex marriages took place during the days of Noah.......

The libs are like a disease, they just keep spreading.

About 22 miles to the east of me is a place called Sequim. It’s known as the “banana belt” of the Peninsula. That is where the libs move to. Most are folks that sell their cracker box houses in California and move up here to retire and buy mansions.

As much as I love our property and the security if offers, if it get’s too blue, I’ll pack up our Airstream trailer and head down the road.

My grandparents on moms side moved to Oregon during WW II when gramps enlisted into the Navy... then served for 20 years. They had moved from upstate New York.

My grandmother love New York, missed it and talked about it most of her life. I doubt there were many libs there back then. LOL

No, all of you who think Palin can enter the race anytime as late as she wants, all of you are missing one thing in your Palin love-fest on this thread and other.

I support Palin (see my sig) so I enjoy a good love-fest, but no, Palin does not have very much time to wait to enter the race. She needs to get in SOON.

Palin has extremely high negatives. I believe in her, and I believe that independent voters will warm up to her when the lies about her are dispelled and she has a chance to speak to them in answer to all the lies about her. But that is going to take time. She can’t reach all of these moderate independent voters in the course of one week using one medium. It is going to take her months to get them to open their minds to the idea of her presidency, and more months to win them over.

I wish she was running now so she could begin that process. The Undefeated movie is a good start, but most independents aren’t going to get exposed to it. It is only the rabid Palin lovers who are flocking to the film. It can get around to the independents, but it is going to take time. She is going to need a lot of other venues as well from TV and radio talk shows, to her commercials and news coverage of her events.

Yes, this gives the MSM more time to attack her, but like I’ve said before, I think they’ve mostly shot their wad and she isn’t going to give them anything remotely Weiner-like to attack her with. I’ve also said the earlier she can bat the MSM into attacking her, the longer she has to deconstruct those lies and disseminate her response.

I don’t agree at all that Palin can wait until next year to declare. No way. I hope she declares in July and doesn’t put it off any longer than that.

There are some good things about Cain, and some bad things.

The bad things are serious though:

Media narratives will collapse once she’s on stage. Reality is different than what someone else tells you of reality. Did she stumble during the VP debate? No. Did she stumble around like an idiot at the rallys during the 2008 campaign? No. She has given multiple interviews on a wide range of issues from the press during her bus tour 17 times....she is well verse and knows whats she doing

The conventional wisdom is more conventional than wise. Candidates start early to build name recognition and need a campaign organization to get supporters to the polls.

1. NOBODY has more name recognition than Sarah Palin
2. When she announces, she will have no problem "forming" an organization.

Sarah would have no problems playing 2nd fiddle to Michell as they are good friends anyway and would work closely as a team.

No offense, but Sarah Palin stands about three heads taller than Michele Bachmann in career accomplishments. Michele has been a wonderful voice for the Tea Party, but her resume is mighty thin for someone seeking the office of president.

Another political reality, is that Sarah's never going to play second fiddle to anyone again. She is without question, the leading Republican political figure in the country now. She's been elevated to a point where there's only one public service job left for her, and that is president.

“How many times must conventional wisdom be destroyed before people begin to ignore it?”

The CONVENTIONAL wisdom is to ignore the “conventional” wisdom of the pundits..

Even in the 70’s, when we used to live in the Bronx, we were a neighborhood.

If someone caught you doing something, not only would you be reprimanded by them, but once you got home the real punishment would begin.

We moved to Huntington Long Island when I was 10. It was the same then as it was when we lived in the “cement land”.

I am a total suburbanite, I love the suburbs, unfortunately, they aren't what they used to be.

Michele Bachmann is a social conservative who has said just enough of the right things to be accepted by some Tea Party activists and use (and I do mean use) the movement to launch what will be an ill advised presidential run.

SP will treat her with respect, anyone who expects the Governor to partner with her in any respect is kidding themselves.

Makes ya scratch yer head, doesn't it?

I can only think that the guy simply has enough money to indulge his fantasies. He doesn't have a prayer of ever becoming the Republican nominee, OR of ever becoming president.

Hey Myth! No one likes you! (said in my best Gollum imitation)

E'en though I agree with thee about Our Lady of The Tundra.

But I guess NoGray still allows Grey.

Pass, FRiend, and all's well.
