The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure.

And now you OWN the failure, spunky.

Roll in it, how does it taste? Tastes like... legacy?

I hate to give the guy any press at all. OTH, at least it does (again) show him for the hypocrite he is.

Well stated, Mr. President.

No need to borrow more if they spend less. It is that simple. It's what We the People have been begging the government to do for as long as I've been breathing. It has to come to a head some day. Today is a good day. Please, Congressmen reading this blog, hold the line. Do not raise an irresponsible government's ability to borrow and spend our sovereignty away.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies...

Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that "the buck stops here." Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

Sounds great, now only if he wasn't such a pathological liar...

Nope, the fact is that the US system of government works. Without compromise in the house Reid, Pelosi and Obama can do nothing. The Dems will not compromise. EPIC fail.

Bring on the default.

"... America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

Unfortunately, there were enough votes to put this joker in charge. Voting him out in a landslide is the only thing that will prove Americans still deserve better.

Barry the Buffoon had enough money to

(1) Give $8000 to first-time home buyers
(2) Give $7500 to buyers of the Obama Motors Volt
(3) Spend hundreds of billions to bail out various non-producing parasites
(4) Give money to the UN and the Palestinians (some of which doubtlessly finds its way to Fatah and Hamas)

I do not see why he needs to raise taxes; he has plenty of money to squander so he needs to stop squandering it before I will listen to a single word he has to say.

it’s not really about the debt ceiling

it’s a fight to keep the dems/progressives from delivering the killing blow to the financial well-being of the country.

they’ve already hosed us... they’re just trying to make it so it’s completely unrecoverable, forcing the country into collapse

raising the debt ceiling would signal the US will never stop spending what it doesn’t have. that it’s dollar will never be worth anything. that it would be best for other countries to avoid investing in dollars / America.

this would be victory of the left / progressives

Rand Paul and Mike Lee just blew up Durbin’s hypocricy on compromise. Rand and Mike offered support of 10 Republicans for the bill already passed that includes the BBA. Durbin objected to Rand’s request to add the amendment.

The U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills because it’s buying too much. Stop the spending.

Seems this shouldn’t be too difficult to understand.

BTW-It’s laughable to hear talking head tell everyone we can’t pay social security payments or government workers. If that were the case, then in truth we have to borrow to provide the basic necessities.

See if you can make all the necessary payments for August without having to borrow. I didn’t find it hard at all.
