Did Perry Even Vote For Reagan?

Posted on 08/15/2011 5:41:08 PM PDT by Minus_The_Bear

Rick Perry was a Democrat until Karl Rove convinced him to switch parties and run as a Republican against Jim Hightower for Agriculture Commissioner.

Perry is always mentioning Reagan... But no Yellow-Dog Texas Democrat who was a chairman for Al Gore in 1988 would have voted for Reagan. Some Democrats would have... but not a leading member of the Texas party.

Perry is just too slick. He is not conservative at all.

Aren’t you tired of spamming every Perry thread with that article? It has already been posted as its own thread.

Right... Yet, you still use their same talking points. Ah-nold made Davis look like Calvin Coolidge. We told you he would be a disaster, but you were more interested in Pyrrhic “wins.” No surprise you’re supporting another RINO. Conservative you are not.

All that is needed to be shown is his activism for the pro-abortion Democrat Party, he was fighting for the wrong team during the Reagan years, were you?

Were you a confused soul during the Reagan Revolution, so confused that you signed on as a pro player for the Democrats in the middle of the revolution?

You need to retract your lie, I never called him a Conservative.

Once upon a time when he was still sane, Gore was ardently pro-life as well as relatively conservative on other issues.

Also, once upon a time, the South was populated with conservative Southern Democrats who held jobs, held family values, loved their country and served proudly.

My opinion is still that Gore had more in common with them then than he did with Hubert Humphrey or McGovern or Jerry Brown.

I love the “1992 he was a Conservative Democrat” by EagleEye... The year Gore earned a perfect 0%. These guys are spinning more than washing machines set to warp speed (or really just lying).

“Back in 1992 Senator Gore was a conservative Democrat.

LOL!! JOKE OF THE DAY....What’s the punch line? “

Actually, the original poster that you are replying to is correct. Gore got Clinton the religious vote. He was anti-rock music and all that. He was considered very conservative, of the Jerry Fallwell type. He and Tipper secured the Bible-Belt vote for Clinton, the same folks who voted for Carter.

Would he have been considered a fiscal conservative? No, that was Clintons job, remember Clinton hammered home the economy to people, while Gore’s job was to hammer home the Christian angle... and he did.

Clinton was not doing well at all with Southern Christians, and Gore was selected as his VP just for that reason.

I read that article earlier, Paperdoll.

That is just too cozy with Islamic Terrorism for me...no way can I vote for someone with that connection

“Did Perry Even Vote For Reagan?”

Of course not. No one could EVER support Al Gore in 1988 (much less run his Texas campaign) after what the Democrats did to Reagan in Iran Contra (i.e., tried to impeach Reagan).

Face it, Perry, back then was a rock-solid DEMOCRAT - albeit towards the conservative side, but not conservative enough to bolt from the party after what they did to Reagan. It took another election cycle before it bothered him.

I suggest before you type you go do some research. Gore NEVER had a Conservative record. Whatever claim to being pro-life was quickly jettisoned (remember, Ted Kennedy AND Dennis Kucinich were pro-life until it no longer suited them, would you call them “formerly” Conservative ?). I was there for his entire tenure in office, both House and Senate and knew what a fraud he was. The sad part was so many in this state bought that both he and his liberal twin, Jim “Daff-uh-Zit” Sasser were “Southern Conservatives” for almost 2 decades before they finally saw him daily on the national stage and realize they’d been had.

You keep spouting the same talking points, but never offer any evidence other than your own opinion. You also show your complete lack of understanding of Texas politics in the 1980's, so it is pointless to try to persuade you. I will continue to correct your misinformation at every opportunity however. I just won't worry about reasoning with you anymore - you are beyond reason. My goal will just be to provide correct, factual information to anyone reading your tripe.

“Reagan voted for FDR.”

And you would have voted for the Nazi-supporting Republicans back then?

Gore was ardently pro-life

Amazing, CA Conservative is telling us that Reagan was pro-choice in post 74, and you are telling us that Gore was "ardently" pro-life.

It is like dealing with the Romney supporters.

Conservative you are not.

Since your definition of a conservative appears to be only people that agree with you, your opinion about my conservatism doesn't mean much.

Gore NEVER had a Conservative record.

What kind of retard are you?

How many times do I have to remind you that YOU are the one calling Gore Conservative, not me.

So until you can get that one little tid bit right, we're done.

“Shhhh...they are on a roll. No sense bringing up Reagan supported the only President elected 4 times and held up as a god to the modern Liberal movement.”

So you Perry supporters have DEGENERATED to the extent of calling Reagan a RINO and essentially calling him a SOCIALIST (in the FDR spirit)?

If so, I don’t know why ANYONE on this site should take you guys seriously anymore.
