Defense Minister Ehud Barak signed a security cooperation agreement with the Greek Defense Minister, Panagiotis Beglitis Sunday at a meeting at the Kirya Base in Tel Aviv. The timing of the deal may or may not be connected to the recent souring of relations with Greece's neighbor, Turkey.
"We welcome the Greek Defense Minister and thanked the Greek government for their rapid assistance during the Carmel fire. We're pleased with the strengthened relationship between Greece and Israel in all aspects, including defense," said Barak at the end of their meeting, according to the IDF Website.
Barak added that the Israeli and Greek nations are "ancient nations that provided the world with culture. Looking ahead, the nations expect to see a deepening of the cooperation between the two governments, defense ministries and peoples."
According to Barak, the security cooperation agreement represents future cooperation with the Greek government. "Both Greece and Israel are undergoing a difficult period in the world and I believe we view each other positively."
In recent years, the IAF has been training with many foreign armies however recently the cooperation between the Greek Army and the IDF grew significantly.
Last June IAF participated in a joint training exercise with the Greek Air Force at the Larissa area using UH-60 Black Hawk and Boeing AH-64 Apache helicopters.

Kurds are Muslim. However, they’ll be an ideal group to convert to Christianity, IMHO.
They may be Muslims, but they’re persecuted and murdered by non-Kurdish Muslims, and while this may not necessarily be better, they have a large number of Suffis among them, which are distinguishable from Sunni and Shiite Islam, one way or another. Enemy of enemy = Friend.

I’m glad to see Christians and Jews allying themselves, though given Greece’s economic problems and left wing politics, they make for a very weak ally at best. Still, it’s only natural. Islam is the threat.

I doubt that tolerance will last much longer. They’re increasingly aligned with Iran and Hizbollah, even though all those refugees have p@#$#ed them off at Syria. This whole democracy thing has been around for a while in Turkey, but its roots have always been in sand, not soil. Sooner or later, with friends like those, the old Islamic intolerance will rear its ugly head and roar. Think Armenians and ethnic Greeks.
Time to re-take Constantinople.
The ONLY reason this is taking place at all is because Greece is very worried about what may happen in Turkey. Anti-Semitism and anti-Israel attitudes are quite strong amongst Greeks.
Turkey is transitioning to a non-secular Islamic state as evidenced by the exodus of their secular army chiefs. There is no longer any interest in supporting Turkey because as an Islamic state, their foreign policy will be Jihad. If Turkey is to remain in NATO, the only utility for the West will be the opportunity for destabilizing and replacing the Islamic leadership through subversion. We probably also will see a self destructive power struggle amongst the Islamic states (Egypt, Iran)for regional hegemony.
