With approximately 85 hours remaining before contracts between the United Auto Workers union and Detroit’s Big Three expire, UAW members can expect a substantially higher signing bonus than in year’s past, according to reports. But, just how high the bonuses will be remains under speculation. Sept. 10, the Detroit News: “… Reports that it could be as high as $10,000, which is about three times what union members received for ratifying the last national contract in 2007 are being described as too high.

Always remember, management has to agree to this too. The top brass in the auto companies don’t care as long as they get their multi-million dollar bonuses. They’ll just raise the price of the cars and get a bailout from Uncle Hussein if they can’t sell them.

We (Ford) are offering you (the UAW bargaining committee) and your co-workers $10,000 each if you agree to ratify the current agreement we are offering you.........

This is nothing new, it happens all the time........

Keep in mind that Ford is making money and the UAW is aware of this..

Of course it sucks but that's the way the executives in the auto industry have always operated..........

Get the union to agree to a contract, no matter what it takes (within reason) and you will get your bonus at the end of the year too.........

FWIW, management ALWAYS gets their minimum 10% bonus at the end of the year regardless how the company is doing. They merely deny or reduce the annual merit increases that their subordinates normally get..........

With the government bailout of GM and Chrysler came a guarantee of unlimited wage concessions. They will pay anything to the union, big bonuses to management, and nothing to repay the taxpayers. The Federal and leftist state governments will buy loads of GM and Chrysler cars at the price demanded to keep 'em afloat, and they will buy only enough discounted Fords to disarm critics of Fascist enterprises.

The question is Ford.

Can Ford afford big raises, or will they have to offer less than GM and deal with a strike.

GM and Chrysler will not support Ford with a lockout if the union strikes Ford, they are now Fascist operations and they will act to put Ford (the competition) out of business as all Fascist enterprises do.

It's going to be interesting and very dangerous for Ford.

Buy a Toyota. Tundra has 80% domestic parts and is made in San Antonio, Texas. Silverados and F-series are 75%. Dakotas are 72%. Ford Ranger 63%. Dodge Ram is 53%.

As you can see, Toyotas contain more domestic parts than so-called "domestics" and aren't involved with UAW. They're made in right-to-work states and not tied to the Obama administration (who noteably attempted to gut them over this so-called sticking accelerator.

Just my opinion, but I consider Toyotas more American than any of the Big 3 in Detroit.

the funny thing is, some talking head at the gummint just said that auto sales and the industrial production it drives is "key to the recovery."

So then, I guess you know why they're driving such a hard bargain.
