Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain will hold a press conference in Scottsdale Tuesday in response to recent allegations of harassment.

According to a statement from the Cain campaign, Cain will hold to the conference at the Scottsdale Plaza at 3 pm.

*snip*

“I know what happened, and he knows what happened,” Bialek said on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight. “One of my whole objectives was to give him the opportunity to come forward, to redeem himself, say, ‘Hey, I’m sorry. I did this. It happened. And let’s move forward.’ And it is unfortunate. I’m very disappointed that he didn’t take the lead in this.”

She said in the interview that she was prepared for an expected media onslaught, but was more concerned about how it would affect her teenage son

Of course...you could hear the jearing smircks in their voices! Beckel going nuts that the dem machine was implicated. Believe me..they have pretty good proof that the dems are behind this at this point. Beckel just heard the shot across the bow and he is instinctively reacting to protect the chicago mobsters at the WH!

Lin Wood - yes the Richard Jewel atty.

I thought he was perfect with ‘the court of public opinion’ very impressive introduction.

One atty who would not parade his client in front of the media.

I would give him a B for his efforts. Not even a B+.

He let the media off the hook.

He didn’t accuse THEM of being part of the CONCOCTED STORY and didn’t accuse THEM of being so much putty in the hands of the demonrats.

Just my opinion. But what I think is, in this case a good solid defense (which he put on) is not enough. He had to go more on the offence. And he didn’t.

Funny, I thought the same thing while hearing him speak. I could actually listen to a President (with a capital “P”) again!

And he actually gets applauded at the end. Loved it!

I have been watching this on Fox.

I can just see President Cain reading the riot act against an aggressive coalition or country.

He has the most “Presidential” attitude I have seen in at least two decades, Bush Sr. was a bit better though, but look out if Cain was to get REALLY pissed off!

Support Cain, he is the best America will see.

Herman thinks all white women look alike and Bailik thinks all black men look alike.

Who yah gonna believe?

I missed it, but all I have to say is "follow the money". I expect it leads straight to the top of the socialist/liberal hierarchy!

Herman Cain backstage at the recent TeaCon with Amy Jacobson shortly after Cain’s alleged encounter with accuser Sharon Bialek.

“I recall Sharon was hell bent on going backstage at the TeaCon convention — where she cornered him,” said Jacobson.

“I was surprised to hear she claims she did not know Cain was going to be there. Cain was expected and was late.”

****************

So the friend of the, ahem, accuser, states that the accuser is a liar?!

With Clinton, we had a president who was sued for sexual harassment, with a 6-figure settlement, and who also had an accusation of forcible rape by a named woman who endured interviews directly from the press.

So far, with Cain we have numerous unnamed sources with vague accusations, one instance of a southern-style gentility that was conflated into harassment, one instance of a non-anonymous corroboration that is contradicted by several other (anonymous, to my knowledge) witnesses by a person with probable ties to other GOP campaigns, and now a named accuser who stands behind her high-profile lawyer and reads her account from a script.

There appears to be no corroborating evidence for any of the accounts, except for the ambivalent photo of Bialek with Cain, for which there is scant evidence that their recent encounter at TEACon went down in the manner she recounts.

I have no use for the “nuts and sluts” defense/offense that Clinton’s team used, but I have to admit I do not yet see much credibility in any of the accusations, including this one from Bialek.

The media has wagged the dog so many times in the past that many conservatives are very wary of their motives and highly suspicious of their methods. The fact that the GOP elite and the democrats appear to have agreed it’s Romney’s turn in the GOP nominee slot adds a sour flavor to the mix that also is hard to ignore.

Some believe that holding themselves to a higher standard has become a garrote around the conservative throat, I think. I can’t say I disagree, truth be told.

But, I also agree that we need to attack the narrative, undermine the accusations as innuendo and counter them with facts, rather than resort to political name calling. The anger many of us feel at the media, at the GOP elite, and at the democrats (did I already mention the media?) will make being the grown up in the room difficult, but we still need to make the effort, IMO.

I am still a Cain supporter, although I will still evaluate each new attempt to derail him in light of the actual evidence. The seriousness of the charge should not be enough, IMO, to derail his candidacy, unless the serious charge is accompanied by serious evidence. He said/she said is a poor substitute for evidence.
