New Jerry Sandusky Rumor Threatens To Make Penn State Scandal Much Worse
SBNation.com ^ | Nov. 10,. 2011 | Jason Kirk

Posted on 11/10/2011 8:31:48 AM PST by Colofornian

Former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky has been charged with sexually abusing eight children, with something like a dozen more also claiming they were victimized. That's horrible. Powerful PSU figures appear to have attempted to cover up what they knew. That makes it even worse.

But if one rumor turns out to be true, this may become a story too awful to compare to any other.

There's been nothing reported by an investigative journalist or law enforcement official so far, but a handful of media members are talking about investigations into whether Sandusky may have shared some of his victims with other adult males.

From two days ago, here's Dan Bernstein of CBS Chicago:

@dan_bernstein FYI: names are being x-checked w/Sandusky's Second Mile, and there are other older adult men with "curious" relationships. Only the start.

Thursday morning, Mark Madden, a Pittsburgh radio host who wrote a story seven months ago envisioning Sandusky's downfall, went on WEEI's Dennis & Callahan Morning Show to discuss the scandal. At the 7:15 mark here, he's asked about the "next shoe to drop." Here are his remarks:

I can give you a rumor, and I can give you something I think might happen. I hear there's a rumor that there will be a more shocking development from the Second Mile foundation. And, hold on to your stomachs because this is gross, I'll use the only language that I can, that Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile were pimping out young boys to donors. This is being investigated by two prominent columnists as I speak.

Madden also speculates it'll be revealed that Sandusky was told to retire as part of a cover-up.

CBS Sports' Gregg Doyel tweeted the following later in the morning, appearing to cite a source besides Madden:

@greggdoyelcbs I'm told Penn's atty general has this sick Sandusky rumor on the radar. Warning, awful read http://t.co/Wy4uiuiD

We can hope none of this is true, but multiple outlets are saying it's being investigated. If it is, let's then hope investigators are able to find it never happened.

All this stuff was covered up by lots of people; but there is no way the media can ignore grand jury indictments involving Penn State University and its football program.

It is impossible that the media in PA did not know what was going on prior to last week, they were just so gutless and tied in to the good-old-boy network, they were unwiilling to do the right thing.

Most of the trustees had to know what was going on and just hoped it would never be exposed. Look for a lot of them to resign before it’s over.

You may be correct..One thing for sure..the asst coach..McQuady (sp?) should be fired..at the very least, suspended for the rest of the season..how the hell can they allow him on the field, with the team...how does he look at the players..

When I first started reading about this, I thought he was a true student, I didn't realize he was 28 years old at the time.

A 28 year old ex-football player and he walks away from a child being raped. Where's the moral compass at? How do you resist the urge to beat the living sh!t out of Sandusky and take the kid to the cops?

>>child molestation should be an automatic death penalty within 5 seconds of being found guilty.<<

I wanna make you president for a day!!

Steal a child's innocence and subject them to a lifetime of emotional pain...fitting punishment for the predator.

And who put up the bail? I wouldn’t be surprised if he skips the country.

There is no excuse for it, but there are factors. McQueary knew Sandusky. When McQueary was the starting QB for Penn State (and McQueary still holds a lot of Penn State records), McQueary was the defensive coordinator, and Penn State was Linebacker U. McQueary knew that Sandusky had been a coach at Penn State since before McQueary was born. He likely knew that Sandusky had played for Joe Paterno, and he certainly knew that Sandusky had been friends with Joe Paterno since before he was born.

McQueary knew that Sandusky had coached at Penn State for 30 years.

McQueary knew that Sandusky was so famous that he had been named the NCAA Assistant Coach of the Year in 1986 and 1999 (yep, the year after the investigation by the University Police into incidents of showering with little boys, and the year Sandusky retired).

We're removed from it now, because Sandusky retired in 1999 . . . but Sandusky was a legend. Not just at Penn State. Sandusky is considered one of the greatest defensive coaches in NCAA history.

So THAT is who McQueary walked in on. He didn't walk in on some 55 year-old man that he didn't know. McQueary probably knew about the 1998 and 2000 problems that Sandusky had - but if he did, he knew that Jerry was being protected with his emeritus status.

But college football is a religion of sorts for a lot of people, let's not kid ourselves. And for more than 25 years at Penn State, Jerry Sandusky was a demi-god, second only to Joe Paterno.

So Mike McQueary had no excuse . . . but he had a lot of reasons.

Here is a great article by someone who grew up in Happy Valley that discusses just how incestuous the situation was.

So—the question was should the NCAA give PSU the death penalty or not? A lot of people are calling for it. These violations are a lot more serious than recuiting violations.

I don't know why you are asking this. Are you claiming that PSU incurred a gain of athletic talent because of these crimes, as they would in wrongful recruiting? Does the NCAA have a death-penalty provision for this type of crime? if not, are you advocating an ex-post facto action? The action rests with the NCAA, they can do whatever they want. You see, I'm not a believer in the punishment from association actions that are so popular with the Democrats and trial lawyers.

I strongly believe that the police better do their job and punish the persons who were involved in the crimes. Our society needs that. The NCAA will do what benefits them - nothing more. Just watch what comes out of this and see if I'm right.

In our "modern times" we don't give the death penalty for murder, so my comment was just "an observation" rather than a personal view.

I see rape as a capital offense and in "beyond doubt" cases as completely justified in these cases...

I think Penn State players should be able to transfer without restrictions....plus bring in an entirely new coaching staff...and on top of that try to recruit players.....it would literally be what Marshall University faced after the plane crash.

For argument’s sake, a death penalty may give the perp no reason to let the victim live. The crime already involves the death penalty, so, why not get rid of the witness?

That’s why I don’t believe in the death penalty for anything but first degree murder.

A child molester serving a term in prison may be the worst punishment possible. Well, I hope that it is.

McQueer, 'recruiting' for Pedo State.

Everybody knew what this guy was doing. The was like a campus wide "non-secret". That is why it wasn't reported to the police. It was old news. Why report something to the police that they already knew about.

So how was it not common knowledge, outside of State College? Up until a week ago, I never heard anything about this.
