Ex-Aide Says Ron Paul Is a 9/11 Truther & Isolationist Who Thinks U.S. Shouldn't Have Fought Hitler
The Weekly Standard ^ | December 26, 2011 | JOHN MCCORMACK

Posted on 12/26/2011 10:06:21 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

A former Ron Paul staffer named Eric Dondero, who worked closely with the Texas congressman and presidential candidate over the course of 15 years, has issued a statement in which he both defends his old boss from charges of racism and anti-Semitism and reveals damning new details about about the "sheer lunacy of [Paul's] foreign policy views".

First, Dondero claims that his old boss is such an extreme isolationist that "he strenuously does not believe the United States had any business getting involved in fighting Hitler in WWII. He expressed to me countless times, that 'saving the Jews,' was absolutely none of our business."

Second, Dondero writes that that Paul himself is a 9/11 conspiracy theorist:

I'm undecided except for Paul and Romney. I want them both relegated to obscurity.

And whatever good qualities Paul may have, they are nothing in comparison to his negatives, and therefore, IMHO, should not be taken seriously as a possible Republican Party presidential nominee.

The most conservative candidates don't seem to be polling well, so until it's my turn to vote, I want them all to perform well. I take no joy in any real conservative faltering.

Right on.

The Constitution matters though.

More of the good guys, need to be making that clear.

Right now, they are not. Paul is, and has consistently.

In the absence of others staking that position, that at least qualifies him as some sort of good guy in my book.

I’m still more for Gingrich right now.

If Perry would learn to speak in such as way to inspire the rest of us out here who haven’t seen whatever it is Texans seem to really like aboout him, I’d probably be in Perry’s camp by now.

He seems genuine and likable.

It's true that because of technology, the oceans are not as wide as in the past, but it is an error to act as if the oceans are not there and mean nothing at all. Our geography still insulates us to some degree from Old World turmoils, and a sound ideal is to aim to rely on regional powers to contain regional tyrants.

It's amazing what other countries can do to safeguard their own survival when Uncle Sam isn't around to pick up the tab.

I think Paul thought he was going to get a free ride from the press.

That's only going to happen to Romney, unless/until he gets the nomination.

Most conservatives are for small government. Let me assure you, Texas would be fine without the Federal government lording over it.

Ron Paul is a kook but his kookiness has nothing to do with wanting small government.

It's a shame that a moderate-liberal putz like Romney is superior to a conspiracy nut isolationist like Ron Paul, but there you have it.

Hell, Obama is superior to Paul at foreign policy.

Maybe, maybe not. FDR asked for and got a declaration of war only against the japs.

You are referring to the famous "day of infamy" speech on 12/8/1941. Three days later both Hitler and Mussolini declared war on the United States. This time FDR didn't bother going to Congress and making a speech. He simply informed Congress who immediately declared war on Germany and Italy.

Somehow in the debates I thought I was hearing his small government thing. Small government vs little government; small as to size - too many agencies and czars (we’re not Russia yet), little as to control over citizens rights and life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and all that.

We insist that Western Europe take our Pershing missiles. We get the bill, and the hostility of the people of Western Europe, and then act surprised that the Soviets pull out of arms negotiations and send more modern nuclear submarines to our coastline." Ron Paul, Congressional Record, 9/19/84

Interesting speech, source of the following observations:.

" ... We pump $40 billion a year into the Japanese economy by providing for essentially all of Japan’s defense. At the same time, Japan out competes us in the market, in effect subsidizing their exports, which then undermines our own domestic steel and auto industries. ..."

"Loyally standing by our ally Israel is in conflict with satisfying the Arab interests that are always represented by big business in each administration. We arm Jordan and Egypt, rescue the PLO (on two occasions), and guarantee that the American taxpayer will be funding both sides of any conflict in the Middle East. ..."

"Our official policy is currently is to be tough on communism, but at the same time promote lower-interests, allowing Red China to buy nuclear technology, F-16s and other military technology – all this by the strongest anti-Communist administration that we’ve had in decades ..."

"We subsidize Red China’s nuclear technology; at the same time, we allow Jane Fonda to ruin ours. ..."

"We continuously sacrifice ourselves to the world by assuming the role of world policeman, which precipitates international rises on a regular basis, all the while neglecting our own defenses. New planes go overseas while our Air National Guard is forced to use planes 20 years old ..."

Ron Paul, Congressional Record, 9/19/84

Yeah, 9/11 was an ‘’inside job’’ alright. 19 Saudi Muslims inside four domestic airliners smashed into buildings with innocent people inside them.

This isn’t new.

Paul has been keeping one foot in the Truther realm and one foot outside it all along. He winks at the Truthers and denies it to the media.

I have nothing but contempt for the man.

Read Hitler’s second book. Hitler hated America and wanted to destroy the “mongrel nation”.

Many in America did not want to get involved — until Hitler attacked their Uncle Joe. Then everything changed following that there was Pearl Harbor a year or so later . . . .

>> He expressed to me countless times, that ‘saving the Jews,’ was absolutely none of our business. <<

Saving the Jews? That was what we did in Europe? Ah, so that explains why the Allies -- led by FDR -- refused to bomb the railway lines carrying Jews, among others, to the death camps. That was why the Allies -- led again by FDR and Churchill -- refused to bomb the death camps themselves -- we were too busy saving the Jews. That is why the US welcomed escaping Jewish refugees as if they were Mexicans in the 21st century, right? Because the US was only interested in saving Jews?

oh, gimme an effing break! It is one thing to forget history, but it is something else entirely to distort it.

My sentiments exactly. I won't vote for Romney, he won't do anything Hussein won't do and "the right" would get the "credit" for it to boot. No to Ron Paul because I won't support anyone who deserts Israel.

Bottom line: he sided with Gobachev, Gore and the nuclear freezers against Reagan. Subsequent events established the fact he was moronic on the biggest geopolitical event of the last 50 years.
