Innocence of Muslims made by Terrorists
Shoebat ^ | 9/25/12 | Walid Shoebat

Posted on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 7:17:32 PM by Ben Barrack

There is more to the story of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula than what we are told by the media. Court documents reveal that Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, producer of the movie Innocence of Muslims, partnered in a scheme with Eiad Salameh, my first cousin, a Palestinian Muslim from Beit Sahour in the Palestinian district of Bethlehem.

To prove my claim, I revealed Eiad Salameh long before this whole fiasco erupted—in 2008 and the first real reportage of Eiad and Nakoula was revealed on September 14th, 2012.

Now do I have your attention?

The narrative that circulates the media fails to answer crucial questions behind the mystery of this film.

For example, to date, no one has stepped forward or can confirm for certain that whoever holds an identity by the name of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula is that man’s true identity. In the Middle East, if a man by the name of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula indeed exists while being blamed for creating a mess of international proportions—which included the anger of over one billion Muslims—it would not be that difficult to find the entire family in Egypt, including brothers, cousins, aunts, siblings wife, wives, ex-wives, mistresses, pets and all.

In the Middle East, no one can hide. Egypt is where the demonstrations that have taken place all over the Middle East and Asia were sparked. Yet, it cannot produce this man’s background?

Besides, why would Nakoula, who claims to be a religious Coptic activist, have extensive connections with Eiad? My cousin hated Copts with a passion and is well-known in the Middle East as a master schemer, probably one of the best the Middle East has produced. He also has multiple contacts with terror networks.

Eiad is from Beit Sahour, Bethlehem. He is a dubious individual who was well known in the Arab community as the main contact for obtaining authentic, legitimate identifications from passports to credit cards, under many nationalities. He then places these identifications into the hands of dubious characters whose names are not the names written on the passports.

Eiad is a Muslim terror supporter and is not an Egyptian Copt. Both my cousin Eiad and whoever this man is who pretends to be Nakoula, had multiple, fraudulent identifications and the two connected for a decade in multiple scheming operations—the type that usually links to terrorism.

The Daily Beast reported regarding Nakoula’s bust:

The bust came around the time the feds were launching Operation Mountain Express, which would become a huge investigation into pseudoephedrine-dealing involving numerous people of a Middle Eastern background. The authorities initially insisted there were no links to terrorism, but suddenly switched and decided that a chunk of the money was going to Hizbullah.

Eiad, like Nakoula, portrayed and identified himself as an Israeli Jew, a thing Eiad did for years. He even fraudulently holds an authentic Israeli passport.

No one knows for certain that Nakoula is even who he claims to be, but we are 100% certain that both my cousin Eiad and Nakoula had multiple fraudulent identifications and what has never been disclosed until now is that the two were linked for at least a decade.

First of all, clan Nakoula also exists in Eiad’s village Beit Sahour Bethlehem. It is still the little town of Bethlehem, just as it was in Biblical times.

The feds are also silent and have kept much of this issue away from public view. Despite Nakoula’s previous offenses, the Justice Department lawyers and federal agents defended him, giving several excuses to Judge Snyder and pushed for leniency, all because of him supposedly promising to help them catch Eiad.

Via the sentencing transcript:

…he [Nakoula] has implicated Mr. Salamay [aka Salameh] there is no question that Mr. Salamay at some point is gonna be indicted if he hasn’t already been… we all know what’s gonna happen. Salamay is gonna get arrested some day and based on the debriefing information turned over he is gonna enter a guilty plea, or if he doesn’t, then Mr. Nakoula is going to be called in to testify…

This claim by the Feds is false.

If the feds were indeed interested in catching Eiad, he was in fact doing his shenanigans for three decades without a single arrest and despite several arrest warrants issued.

He was in fact finally locked up in January 2011 in Canada as we were told by our contact out of the Intelligence Bureau in Canada (IBC) who wrote us by email (which we have the evidence).

While the Canadians wanted to keep Eiad in custody as long as it took and were working with the Feds to extradite him to the United States, the U.S. preferred not to bring Eiad in to face justice. Instead, they asked the Canadians to fly him to freedom in Palestine.

I received my last email from my contact on July 15th, 2011, which stated: “He is awaiting deportation to Palestine, unless the US hurry up and indict him…” The feds never responded to the Canadian’s last appeal and within a few days, Eiad was put on a plane, courtesy of the Canadian taxpayers.

Where did he go?

The Palestinian terror connection to this film increases once we learned that Nakoula used Eiad’s last name “Erwin Salameh” portraying himself as his brother. As we also obtained from our contact in the IBC, Eiad was also involved with someone having the last name “Tanas” as late as 2011 and Nakoula had used the name “Thomas J. Tanas”.

In addition, the naming convention used by Nakoula in 2009 looks remarkably similar to one of Eiad’s embezzlement operations in 2000.

Nakoula used a fictitious company called M & A Trading in 2009, which he simply switched from Eiad’s A & M Trading as revealed in the U.S. Trustee report in 2001.

I can provide much evidence privately to reliable media, on the condition that the names of the agents remain anonymous (as per their request) but I have disclosed Eiad in all of my seminars to hundreds of FBI agents and police force.

Full Report Here.

So who is this man behind the film Innocence of Muslims?

To identify his motives, I then obtained a radio interview in Arabic that this supposed Nakoula gave in which he stated that he is not Christian but a secular liberal. He was asked, “What is your position on the Jewish and the Christian faith?” Nakoula responded, “I have no calling for these religions.”

Nakoula, who stated that he was an author of several books on Islam (written in Arabic) refused to give his name to the interviewer. Yet, if court documents give his legal name as Nakoula Bacile/Bassele Nakoula, I found no books under that name. Nothing. And neither did anyone produce them.

Nakoula was lying again and is no Coptic author.

A court document refers to a letter from a friend who referred to Nakoula as “a God-fearing man whose first priority is his family.”

This contradicts what he said in Arabic; he is not interested in Christianity or Judaism and is possibly a Muslim.

Nakoula claimed that he produced the film with his son, Abanob Basseley, and the money for it (between $50,000 and $60,000) came from his wife’s family in Egypt.

None of this has been proven.

What has been proven is that he embezzled millions with Eiad and the money must have come from these scandalous operations, which are usually linked to terrorist activity.

Why would any anti-Islam Christian or even Jewish activist want the destruction of his own? It makes zero sense, unless of course this person intends to do harm to his real enemies—Israel and the Copts.

Both are Eiad’s ardent enemies.

How is it possible that these two would snuggle up together for a decade?

On one hand, we have a Meth-dealer-Egyptian-Coptic-anti-Muslim-activist-fundamentalist-Christian. Then on the other hand, we have a Muslim-fundamentalist-Palestinian-scam-artist-terrorist.

The results of this entire fiasco will not be the apprehension of terrorists, but the continual chipping away at the First-Amendment, since Americans by and large are still practicing the art of self-blame while they ignore the real culprits who enter our country with the intent of doing it much harm.

The plot is we expected...

Additional thread:

Why is the Coptic Christian filmmaker partners in crime with Coptic Christian hater?

The Smoking Gun has produced court documents telling us that Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, producer of the movie Innocence of Muslims, partnered with Eiad Salameh and that Nakoula was finally caught in 2009 for his role in a check-kiting ring that stole over $870,000 from six financial institutions by using stolen Social Security numbers and identities.

In this, we will show how this story is mired in FBI failure and the Eiad connection is crucial in unraveling more facts to this story, since many of his dealings with Nakoula can tell us more about his true motives.

After all, Eiad Salameh is my first cousin, a Palestinian Muslim from Beit Sahour in the Palestinian Bethlehem District.

Video: Egypt’s Mursi implicated in murder of U.S. Ambassador?
Shoebat ^ | 9/13/12 | Walid Shoebat

Posted on Thursday, September 13, 2012 12:17:04 PM by Ben Barrack

There have been questions raised about whether the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Libya was done in conjunction with the attacks on the Embassy in Cairo. This video brings us closer to answering that question. In fact, it not only points to the same attackers but possibly to Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi himself.

Fast forward to the 1:15 mark in this video (if you don’t understand Arabic). Watch as the raw footage of a firefight in Benghazi is taking place. The news report loops the relevant portion of an exchange between gunmen, in which one can be heard, saying, ‘Don’t Shoot us! We were sent by Mursi’!

Obviously, that would mean at least two separate groups of gunmen in Libya are loyal to the President of Egypt.

Jordan On The Brink: Muslim Brotherhood Mobilize (50K demonstrators) for King Abdullah’s overthrow [Debka Files]

Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood has given King Abdullah II notice that he has until October to bow to their demand to transform the Hashemite Kingdom into a constitutional monarchy or face "Arab Spring" style street pressure for his abdication. Middle East sources report that Israeli and Saudi intelligence watchers are becoming increasingly concerned about the approaching climax of the conflict in Amman between Islamists and the throne.

For Israel, an upheaval in Jordan bodes the tightening of the Islamist noose around its borders – Egypt and Libya to the south and Syria to the north, with unpredictable consequences with regard to Jordan’s Palestinian population.

Saudi Arabia, already threatened by Iranian aggression, fears the oil kingdom may be next in line if its northern neighbor is crushed under the marching feet of the “Arab Spring.”

The oil kingdom’s royal rulers are reported to have belatedly woken up to the peril and are in a panic. They realize that their preoccupation with helping Syrian rebels overthrow Bashar Assad misdirected their attention from the enemies lurking at their own door.

Thousands of articles in the Arab press in the past year have predicted that after the Muslim Brotherhood seizes power in Damascus, Amman would be next in its sights followed by Riyadh.

The Jordanian monarch has options:

1. He could bow to the main Muslim Brotherhood’s demand by submitting to the kingdom’s transition to a constitutional monarchy and the transfer of executive power to an MB-led government by means of the electoral reforms for which the Brothers have been pushing for years. In Jordan as in Egypt, the Brothers hope for a two-third majority in a free election.

2. He could stand up to the Brotherhood’s demands and order his security, intelligence and military forces to crack down on the opposition. This course carries the risk of plunging Jordan into the carnage of civil war among the diverse segments of the population.

The biggest dangers come from the Bedouin tribes, whose traditional allegiance to the Hashemite throne has weakened in recent years, and the Palestinians who form 60 percent of the population.

3. He could seek to negotiate a compromise through various brokers. Our sources report that several attempts at mediation have been ventured of late, but got nowhere because the Muslim Brotherhood sent its most radical leaders to the table and they left very little margin for compromise.

According to sources at the royal court, Abdullah will very soon meet with MB leaders for a personal appeal for calm after years of heated debate. Most observers believe that he has left it too late and by now the Muslim Brotherhood has got the bit between its teeth.

Indeed, according to an internal memorandum leaked to the Al-Hayat newspaper, the MB has already set a date for mass demonstrations against the King to start on Oct. 10 and ordered its members to go to work at once to mobilize at least 50,000 demonstrators for daily protests against the king and the royal family until he bows to their will.

The memorandum states: “Every member must be dedicated to communicate with his relatives, close friends, acquaintances, fellow employees and various Islamic groups and patriots…” It calls for the formation of “hotbeds to… focus on the participation of groups affiliated with universities, schools and women’s organizations.”

Protesters are also advised on tactics for overcoming a security crackdown. Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood has therefore moved forward from opposition propaganda, debating and political pressure to activism against the throne. Both Jordanian camps are anxiously watching to see which way the wind blows in the White House.

President Barack Obama has a balancing act to resolve: On the one hand, the Jordanian king has long been a staunch American ally and friend, its mainstay in many regional crises. On the other, Obama regards the Muslim Brotherhood as the linchpin of his external policy of outreach to the Muslim world.

an update from Egypt:

“Shafiq won the presidential election in Egypt in spite of millions of illegal, pre-checked-off ballots for Morsy were printed by the official government printing outfit. The illegal ballots were paid for by Qatari agents.

“In the hours waiting for the announcement to the nation of the result, FM Tantawi called Shafiq and congratulated him as President-elect and sent a detail of Republican Guards to Shafiq’s house to join the usual Secret Service detail for a presidential candidate.

“Anne Patterson, the American Ambassador to Egypt, visited Shafiq in his residence, ostensibly to congratulate him on his election. Lo and behold, she teld him that Morsy apparently ‘won and that there was nothing wrong with the Muslim Brotherhood takeover.’ Shafiq was shocked and was told that the Republican Guard detail is withdrawing. In a matter of hours, Shafiq and his family self-exiled themselves to the Emirates where they still reside to-date.

“Tantawi was told by the American Administration what the presidential election results should be and that explains why the Egyptian TV announcement was much later than expected.

“Last time I wrote you, you informed your readers, w/video link, that Mohammed El Zwahri, brother of al-Quaeda chief, was present in the El Abbasseya demonstrations some time ago. No American news ever mentioned it at the time and now his presence at the 9/11/12 American Embassy attack with al-Quaeda black flags was in some American news outlets.

“There will be a lot of bloodshed in Egypt’s very near future. People are making noise, daily.”

Obama’s concern is not US allies nor US interests. Obama is on a jihad mission for the Muslim Brotherhood. Jordan and Saudi Arabia are both toast.

Who Is White House visitor Hisham Altalib?

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 26, 2012 08:44 AM

Photo via @noainny

On Friday, March 30, 2012, Hisham Y. Altalib visited the White House. According to visitor logs, Altalib was received by Joshua DuBois, the director of President Obama’s Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Four days later, White House officials welcomed a foreign delegation of the radical Sharia-enforcing Muslim Brotherhood from Egypt.

The White House meeting with overseas Muslim Brotherhood leaders was reported in April by a few mainstream journalists and questioned loudly by conservative media. But the White House confab in March with U.S.-based Altalib — which appears to be a prep session with the global Muslim Brotherhood’s American advance team — has received no attention until now.

So, who is Hisham Yahya Altalib? What is his agenda?

And why exactly did the Obama administration conduct domestic “faith-based” outreach with this Muslim Brotherhood figure in Virginia, who just happens to be 1) tied to bloody jihad and 2) a major contributor to the left-wing Center for Constitutional Rights, the group of jihadi-sympathizing lawyers who helped spring suspected Benghazi terror plotter Abu Sufian bin Qumu from Gitmo?

Altalib is an Iraqi-born Muslim identified by the FBI as a Muslim Brotherhood operative before he moved to America in the 1970s to earn an advanced electrical engineering degree from Purdue University in Indiana. By his own account, Altalib “soon became active in Islamic work in North America, which continues to this day.”

He was the “first full-time director of the Leadership Training Department of the Muslim Students Association of the United States and Canada (MSA)” — a longtime Muslim Brotherhood front group whose explicit goal is to “conquer” America through Islamic propagandizing.

Altalib is also a founding member of the SAAR Foundation and the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT). Last year, his online biography proudly notes, he was “awarded the ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) Community Service Award.” The Saudi-subsidized ISNA is regarded as the primary U.S. umbrella group for Muslim Brotherhood fronts and was named specifically by the global MB godfathers as a key player in their “Grand Jihad” strategy of infiltration from within.

SAAR was founded in Herndon, Va., in 1983 as part of a radical Islamic charity front for Saudi financiers called the SAFA Group. The feds raided SAAR’s offices in 2002 as part of Operation Green Quest. Investigators confiscated 500 boxes and seven trucks’ worth of documents illuminating the network’s terror ties to the Al Taqwa Bank (a Swiss-based Muslim bank suspected of funding the 9/11 plot) and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Altalib worked for one of Al Taqwa Bank’s main owners, Youssef Nada. Altalib’s more prominent Muslim Brotherhood partner, Jamal Barzinji (one of the champions of the Ground Zero mosque), also worked for Nada. FBI and Customs officials believe SAAR/SAFA laundered money for a plethora of violent Muslim terrorist groups, from Hamas and Hezbollah to al-Qaida and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Along with several other leaders of the “Ikhwan” (brothers), Altalib and Barzinji established the International Institute of Islamic Thought in Herndon, Va., in 1985. Global Muslim Brotherhood thug Yusuf al-Qaradawi — the fire-breathing, fatwa-issuing Jew-hater and violent jihad proselytizer — inspired IIIT’s mission: the “Islamization of social sciences.”

According to Steven Merley of the Hudson Institute’s Center on Islam, Democracy, and the Future of the Muslim World, IIIT has 14 affiliated offices across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia [his must-read report on the Muslim Brotherhood in the U.S. is here - PDF]. Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy, who put 1993 World Trade Center bombing mastermind Omar Abdel Rahman behind bars, notes that IIIT was a demonstrated unindicted co-conspirator in the feds’ Holy Land Foundation terror financing case. IIIT supported convicted terror aides Sami Al-Arian and Abduhrraman Rahman Alamoudi.

Altalib, Barzinji and IIIT were also all listed in funding statements from the Center for Constitutional Rights as major donors giving in the $25,000 to $49,000 range.

CCR is the umbrella group providing more than 500 pro bono lawyers to Gitmo detainees. They have regularly dismissed national security concerns about Gitmo recidivism as “irresponsible … scare stories.” That’s exactly what they did after one of CCR’s clients, Libyan terror leader Abu Sufian bin Qumu, was sprung in 2007.

Fast-forward five short years. Qumu is now the lead suspect in the 9/11/12 attack on our U.S. consulate in Benghazi that resulted in the murders of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, consular official Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALs/private security contractors Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods. In the wake of this month’s terrorist attacks on our Egyptian embassy, Libyan consulate and Afghan air base, the jihad helpers at CCR are stone silent.

This administration’s idea of domestic “faith-based outreach” is tea with Muslim Brotherhood community organizers who have embedded themselves in American life for four decades with the express intent of “eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.” Meanwhile, our commander in chief is squawking to the world about YouTube videos. The Ikhwan are laughing their bloodstained robes off.

An Astounding Remark

Future of Freedom Foundation ^ | Sheldon Richman

When Attorney General John Ashcroft told the nation, “To those who scare peace-loving people with phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this: Your tactics only aid terrorists,” he wasn’t blazing any new trails. He was merely doing what despots and would-be despots always do: attempting to intimidate into silence those who dare to question him.

Ashcroft’s statement is one of the most astounding things to be said by a U.S. official in many years. To read it carefully — letting its full message sink in — is to be overtaken by a sense of horror that is otherwise hard to imagine. — Every American should be offended to hear the government’s chief law enforcement officer equate public expressions of concern about the threats to liberty from drastic “anti-terrorism” measures with joining al-Qaeda.

I seem to recall that Bill Clinton commented that Americans had too many freedoms and the response thereto was muted.

Who Is White House visitor Hisham Altalib?

By Michelle Malkin • September 26, 2012 08:44 AM

Check out # 707.

Also check out # 708 (y2002,) .... and this y2009 article:

Poison Photo-Drop .. decision to release photographs .. will imperil nation .. its defenders.

National Review Online ^ | May 12, 2009 | Andrew C. McCarthy

If President Obama wanted to refrain from releasing these photos in order to protect the military forces he commands or promote the security of Americans — his two highest obligations as president — he could do so by simply issuing an executive order. The applicable statute expressly allows for it, just as it provides for Congress — now in the firm control of the president and his party — to withhold the photos from disclosure. Instead, Obama and congressional Democrats are choosing to release the photos.

They are making that choice fully aware that it will cost lives.

It is a sedulous Democrat talking-point, repeated most recently by Carl Levin, the Senate Armed Services chairman and a key Obama ally, that the revelations of prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib inspired new terrorist recruits, caused American combat casualties, and made the United States more vulnerable to terrorist attack.

This has long been Obama’s own position. It is a charge he made throughout the 2008 campaign, and it is one he repeated just a month ago in his Strasbourg speech: “When we saw what happened in Abu Ghraib, that wasn’t good for our security — that was a recruitment tool for terrorism. Humiliating people is never a good strategy to battle terrorism.”

YOM KIPPUR ROAR: Rocket from Syria lands in northern Israel. Damascus official denies reports of misplaced army shelling
TEL AVIV — A top Syrian government official speaking to KleinOnline denied that a rocket launched from Syria that landed in northern Israeli territory today was misplaced Syrian army firing, as has been widely reported.

“I am not aware of any clashes between the Syrian Army and the rebels taking place so close to the Israeli border,” added the Syrian official. “In any case, the Syrian army does not fire rockets against the rebels.”

The official further said that mortars launched from Syria that landed in Israel yesterday were not related to any fighting between the rebels and the Syrian army.

The official refused to say whether he believed the mortars or rocket were fired at Israel deliberately either by Syrian forces or by jihad groups.............(more at link)

Iranian Officers Reshape Assad’s Shabbiha Militia Into a Second Al-Qods (50,000-60,000 strong)
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has leapt into the Syrian battle arena, undertaking the task of transforming the Alawite Shabbiha militia, which has carried the brunt of Bashar Assad’s brutal suppression of the Syrian opposition for 18 months, into a new corps, retrained and reorganized on the model of the elite Al Qods Brigade. Al Qods is the IRGC’s arm of clandestine and terrorist operations in Iran’s foreign arenas.

Military sources report exclusively that when the Shabbiha is slapped into its new military shape, Bashar Assad will have at his disposal an extra 50-60,000 professional Alawite soldiers under arms – the nucleus of a Syrian Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Our sources also reveal that Tehran has promised the Syrian outfit weaponry on a par with the Al Qods arsenal. So, unless he is overthrown in the interim, the Syrian ruler and Iranian government will command the biggest special operations force in the Middle East. For this project, a massive Iranian airlift of personnel and weapons is running daily from IRGC air bases in Iran into Syria.....(more at link)

Libyan president to NBC: Anti-Islam film had ‘nothing to do with’ US Consulate attack
NBC News ^ | Sept. 26, 2012 | NBC News staff

Posted on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 3:12:50 AM by Free ThinkerNY

An anti-Islam film that sparked violent protests in many countries had “nothing to do with” a deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi earlier this month, Libya’s president told NBC News.

In an exclusive interview with NBC News’ Ann Curry, President Mohamed Magarief discounted claims that the attack was in response to a movie produced in California and available on YouTube. He noted that the assault happened on Sept. 11 and that the video had been available for months before that.

“Reaction should have been, if it was genuine, should have been six months earlier. So it was postponed until the 11th of September,” he said. “They chose this date, 11th of September to carry a certain message.”

Tonight is the 1st of two nights @ pm, broadcasting a special on the worldwide plan for the Caliphate in general and for the US in particular.

You can read articles on the documents of “The Project” at The Blaze and if you search the Interwebs. They’re there.

But this will be visual. I have studied the Islamic world for decades and am known in my family for my dogmatic insistence on what is going to happen—which, unfortunately, Beck now sees, too. I have ‘spouted’ this for over 25 years, since just prior to 1979.

I can remember sitting on the floor at someone’s house, saying, “You don’t understand. These people, if they really believe in something, will die for what they want. People didn’t much want to talk to me after that.

Great links in live thread! Thank you, combat_boots!

Bombshell: Obama Administration Deleted State Dept. Memo From Internet
Gateway Pundit ^ | 9-27-12 | Jim Hoft

Posted on Thursday, September 27, 2012 10:55:05 AM by radioone

Full Headline: Bombshell: Obama Administration Deleted State Dept. Memo From Internet After Discovering Al-Qaeda Was Behind Benghazi Attack.

Yesterday there were reports that the Obama Administration found out the Al-Qaeda was behind the Benghazi consulate attacks within 24 hours of the assault that killed four Americans.

So what was their first action? Did they secure the compound? – No, that took over a week to get FBI agents to the consulate Did they acknowledge it was an Al-Qaeda attack? No, Obama this week blamed the terror attack on a YouTube protest.

Here’s what they did – They scrubbed a damning State Department memo from the internet– On Wednesday September 12, 2012 blogger Speak With Authority discovered that five days before 9-11, the US State Department sent out a memo announcing no credible security threats against the United States on the anniversary of 9-11.

The Overseas Security Advisory Council, who posted the memo, is part of the Bureau of Diplomatic Security under the U.S. Department of State.

Here is a screengrab of the memo at the OSAC website:

Fox News confirms Obama admin designated Benghazi sacking a terror attack within first 24 hours
Hotair ^

Posted on Thursday, September 27, 2012 12:00:18 PM by chessplayer

Fox News follows up on Eli Lake’s excellent reporting on the intel after the assassination of Ambassador Chris Stevens, confirming from their own sources that the US knew within the first twenty-four hours that the sacking of the Benghazi consulate was no “spontaneous demonstration” that spun out of control. In fact, they already suspected al-Qaeda of masterminding the planned terrorist attack on the compound days before even admitting that it had been a terror attack at all — and had designated the incident as terrorism in order to pursue one suspect:

U.S. intelligence officials knew within 24 hours of the assault on the U.S. Consulate in Libya that it was a terrorist attack and suspected Al Qaeda-tied elements were involved, sources told Fox News — though it took the administration a week to acknowledge it.

The account conflicts with claims on the Sunday after the attack by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice that the administration believed the strike was a “spontaneous” event triggered by protests in Egypt over an anti-Islam film.

Two senior U.S. officials said the Obama administration internally labeled the attack terrorism from the first day in order to unlock and mobilize certain resources to respond, and that officials were looking for one specific suspect.

Four days later, the White House sent UN Ambassador Susan Rice to five different Sunday talk shows to claim that the sacking and assassination sprang from a “spontaneous” demonstration. That no longer can be explained as initial confusion over conflicting reports; it is now clearly a lie told by the White House. Jennifer Rubin pointed this out at the Washington Post even before the Fox report, and wondered where the national media that screeched at every claim by George W. Bush has suddenly become so comfortable with an administration that flat-out lies to them:

Fiasco: 15 days later, FBI still can’t gain access to Benghazi consulate

Posted on Thursday, September 27, 2012 5:41:36 PM by qaz123

I know you’ve already read a bunch of Libya posts today but you’re going to have to read a few more because this is indeed now a “major scandal,” from the lack of security at the consulate before the attack to the White House lies afterward about a “spontaneous” reaction to the Mohammed movie to the baffling failure of the FBI to get access to the consulate afterward. Two possibilities, neither one good for the administration. Either the FBI’s been frozen out by bureaucratic infighting or they can’t get access due to the Libyan government’s inability — or unwillingness — to secure the building for a few days of investigation. Whatever the answer, as veteran Robert Caruso said today on Twitter, it’s hard to have a law-enforcement approach to terrorism without law enforcement.

Fox News has just reported that the US is withdrawing (supposedly temporarily) all its personnel from the US embassy in Tripoli, Libya. What–did they get advance word of a YouTube sequel to The Innocence of Muslims? Are they worried of another imminent “spontaneous” protest with marchers who carry mortars with them?

More likely the Clousseaus of Foggy Bottom have figured out they have serious security breach problems in Libya and perhaps elsewhere.

Islamic leaders in Dearborn, Mich. are holding a rally this Friday night to build momentum for the passage of laws that prohibit speech or expression that hurts “the religious feelings of Muslims.”

Put together in response to the film “Innocence of Muslims,” rally organizer Tarek Baydoun said, “We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to sow the seeds of hate and discord against the religious beliefs of others.” Rally co-organizer Osama Siblani added, “There is a need for deterrent legal measures against those individuals or groups that want to damage relations between people, spread hate and incite violence.”

Even before Defense Secretary Leon Panetta contradicted the initial story about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, today, Obama administration officials told ABC News they were concerned after the White House began pushing the line that the attack was spontaneous and not the work of terrorists.

Events were too uncertain, and suspicions had been aroused, officials said.

Panetta today said that the attack that killed four Americans on the anniversary of 9/11 was not only carried out by terrorists — it was pre-meditated.

“As we determined the details of what took place there and how that attack took place,” Panetta told reporters, “it became clear that there were terrorists who had planned that attack.”

The White House first suggested the attack was spontaneous — the result of an anti-Muslim video that incited mobs throughout the region.

“Let’s be clear, these protests were in reaction to a video that had spread to the region,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said on September 14.

When ABC News pressed Carney on whether that included the Benghazi attack, in which U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other American men were killed, Carney said, “we certainly don’t know. We don’t know otherwise. We have no information to suggest that it was a preplanned attack.”

Security Fears Hobble Inquiry of Libya Attack
New York Times ^ | Sept. 27, 2012 | By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK, ERIC SCHMITT and MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT

Posted on Friday, September 28, 2012 2:02:19 AM by Brad from Tennessee

BENGHAZI, Libya — Sixteen days after the death of four Americans in an attack on a United States diplomatic mission here, fears about the near-total lack of security have kept F.B.I. agents from visiting the scene of the killings and forced them to try to piece together the complicated crime from Tripoli, more than 400 miles away.

Investigators are so worried about the tenuous security, people involved in the investigation say, that they have been unwilling to risk taking some potential Libyan witnesses into the American Embassy in Tripoli. Instead, the investigators have resorted to the awkward solution of questioning some witnesses in cars outside the embassy, which is operating under emergency staffing and was evacuated of even more diplomats on Thursday because of a heightened security alert.

“It’s a cavalcade of obstacles right now,” said a senior American law enforcement official who is receiving regular updates on the Benghazi investigation and who described the crime scene, which has been trampled on, looted and burned, as so badly “degraded” that even once F.B.I. agents do eventually gain access “it’ll be very difficult to see what evidence can be attributed to the bad guys. . .”

If voters think Obama’s deceiving them about the Benghazi riot, he’ll pay in November
Telegraph - UK ^ | September 27, 2012 | Tim Stanley

......You be the judge. The Washington Post has cobbled together a timeline of administration statements on the attack, with the following disclaimer: “We will leave it to readers to reach their own conclusions on whether this is merely the result of the fog of war and diplomacy — or a deliberate effort to steer the storyline away from more politically damaging questions. After all, in a competitive election, two weeks is a lifetime.” Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

.....Both liberal critics and the Republicans see a mix of ineptitude and cunning in the White House’s behaviour. After they were brushed off with a “light-on-details” security briefing that implied Obama didn’t want to give too much away, congressional Republicans are on the warpath. Rep Buck McKeon told Fox, “We are getting close to an election, and all I can think of is they’re just trying to keep the facts unknown until after …The way they’re handling this is so incompetent.”

Open debate about tragedies like this might seem unpatriotic and heartless, but how they are handled can change the outcome of an election. In 2004 a terrorist attack in Spain left 191 dead. The conservative government of Jose Maria Aznar instantly blamed the domestic terrorist group ETA. When it turned out that al-Qaeda was responsible, it looked like Aznar had shifted blame in order to dodge accusations that he had made Spain open to attack by backing the Iraq War. The news flipped popular opinion. A country that seemed ready to easily re-elect the conservative government instead gave a landslide victory to the socialists.

Whether it’s the result of incompetence or a genuine lack of intel, voters don’t like to think that they’ve been deceived.

Iranian Operatives In Charge Of Obama’s Iran Policy

Court Reveals Iranian Operatives In Charge Of Obama’s Iran Policy Since 2009

September 26, 2012 By Doug Book

A ruling handed down on September 13th by the D.C. District Federal Court has finally made clear what many have known for years–that the Obama Administration’s Iran policy was initiated and advanced by a group with illicit, hidden ties to the Iranian Regime and financed by the U.S./Israel- hating George Soros.

In 2009, Barack Obama turned over virtually all responsibility and authority for foreign policy negotiations with Iran to Trita Parsi and his National Iranian American Council (NIAC). Founded by Parsi in 2003, the Washington-based NIAC is a powerful lobbying group that is “…widely considered the de facto lobby for the Iranian Regime in America.”

Like too many organizations that claim to represent the best interests of the nation of Iran and Iranian-Americans, the NIAC is tightly connected with and known to be funded at least in part by the George Soros empire. Small wonder NIAC advice on dealing with Iran was replete with claims that Israeli propaganda was responsible for the negative image imposed on otherwise peace-loving, misunderstood Iranian mullahs. Not exactly a friend of Israel is George Soros.

And how did the reputedly “non-partisan” NIAC suggest the Obama Administration proceed with negotiations? Simple. The Council “…opposes sanctions on Iran, soft-pedals any controversial events in Iran, and counsels “patience” regarding Iran’s stance towards its nuclear program.”

What better way for NIAC representatives to serve their hidden masters in Tehran than by promoting a policy of “peaceful coexistence” between the US and Iran. And to the NIAC, peaceful coexistence meant “…acceptance of [the] Iranian government, accepting Iranian hegemony in the Gulf and its place in other parts of the Middle East, removal of sanctions and pressure against Iran, abandon of assistance to the Iranian people’s resistance against the regime and etc.”

For the U.S., the consequences of this game of intrigue played by the Administration’s hand-picked, Iranian representatives are summed up in this statement by Barack Obama: “I’ve made it clear that the United States respects the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and is not interfering with Iran’s affairs.” And indeed, this is the path Barack Obama has followed. Not exactly reassuring words from a president charged with keeping the American public safe from a nuclear-bound administration of religious fanatics dedicated to our demise.

And it is thanks to an ill-advised lawsuit that proof of the NIAC’s wrongdoing has finally been placed before the American public. In 2008, Trita Parsi and his organization filed a defamation suit against perpetual critic Seid Dai. Dai had publicly accused Parsi of secretly working with the ruling Iranian Regime against the interests of the United States and the Iranian people. But when Parsi filed suit hoping to silence-through-intimidation such potentially lethal criticism, it opened the floodgates of legal discovery allowing Dai to demand internal NIAC documents and emails that eventually “… confirmed [Parsi’s] ties to the [Iranian] mullahs…”

Not only did recovered emails reveal that Parsi had held “…numerous secret meetings with top level IRI [Islamic Republic of Iran] officials,” “Court documents show the NIAC was guilty of: lying to members of Congress, fraudulent membership numbers, tax law violations and evasions, Lobbying Disclosure Act violation, the Foreign Agents Registration Act violations, foreign bank accounts, defrauding of federal funds, bribing of eye witnesses, etc…”

And so egregious were NIAC attempts to duck its legal responsibilities of discovery that Judge John Bates dismissed the Parsi defamation suit, ordered sanctions against Parsi for his failure to comply with discovery, and ordered Parsi to pay significant percentages of Dai’s costs and fees.

This is an immensely important story, not surprisingly “missed” in its entirety by the mainstream media.

But why has the Romney campaign not demanded Obama’s rationale for handing the foreign policy decisions of the United States and the security of the American people over to representatives of the Iranian government itself? Could voters be pleased upon finding the president had placed America’s safety from possible nuclear attack in the hands of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?

Benghazi-gate – Obama Knew ^ | September 29, 2012 | Bob Bauprez

Posted on Saturday, September 29, 2012 10:47:57 AM by Kaslin

In the days following the assassination attack in Benghazi, Libya on September 11 that left Ambassador Chris Stevens and three aides dead it was appalling to watch the Obama Administration’s painstaking efforts to deny any connection to radical Islamic terror. A week later, the White House was forced to admit a connection to al Qaeda after the Director of the National Counterterrrorism Center, Matthew Olsen, testified to a Senate Committee that Benghazi was indeed a “terrorist attack on our embassy” with likely “connections to al Qaeda.”

The week long contortions and denials by the Administration became even more befuddling when Eli Lake at the Daily Beast raised the stakes with this bombshell disclosure on September 26:

“Within 24 hours of the 9-11 anniversary attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, U.S. intelligence agencies had strong indications al Qaeda–affiliated operatives were behind the attack, and had even pinpointed the location of one of those attackers. Three separate U.S. intelligence officials who spoke to The Daily Beast said the early information was enough to show that the attack was planned and the work of al Qaeda affiliates operating in Eastern Libya.” Read more

Anderson Cooper at CNN disclosed on September 23 that Ambassador Steven’s journal indicated he believed he was targeted by al Qaeda, yet apparently the State Department took no steps to protect his safety. That added to the questions….why?

Instead of coming clean, the State Department attacked CNN calling the disclosure “disgusting” and “not a proud moment in CNN’s history.” Again, raising more questions.

High ranking House and Senate Republicans fired off letters and issued public statements directed to the President demanding more information. What did the President know, and when did he know it?

Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) was the first to mention the “c” word - cover up. “There has to be something they’re trying to hide or cover up,” he said. “We just want answers.”

Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) gave the growing scandal a name; Benghazi-gate.

Lake’s newest revelation raises the stakes yet again. Jennifer Rubin in her “Right Turn” column in the Washington Post today asks the newest most obvious question – “Did Obama lie?”

“Obviously the report (Eli Lake’s in the Daily Beast), if true, suggests that the White House lied to the American people by insisting for over a week that this was a spontaneous attack. It is one thing for the president to be so benighted as to think a video sets off multiple attacks on Sept. 11. It is quite another to send out his advisers, including his own spokesman, to mislead voters.” Read more

Rubin also raises three other important questions that logically follow:

1.Can Obama squirm out of this scandal unscathed as he has so many others, or
2.Will Mitt Romney effectively make this a campaign changing moment, and
3.Will the media live up to their responsibilities and hold the Administration accountable?

The answers to Rubin’s first and second question are going to be highly dependent on the outcome of the third. Coming days will tell, but Rubin rightfully prods the mainstream media; “…now is the time when we see if reporters and pundits are more than shills for the president.”

However, Rubin doesn’t see much “evidence that an epidemic of fairness is breaking out in the mainstream media.”

And, then the biggest question; will the American people continue to let Obama get away with it? “Certainly, we shouldn’t have a president in office who would lie to the American people about a critical national security issue for the sake of his own reelection, right?” Rubin asks rhetorically. We’ll find out soon enough.

WaPo confirms: State Dept did nothing to address security concerns in Benghazi

Hotair ^ | 2:01 pm on September 30, 2012 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on Monday, October 01, 2012 1:13:58 AM by Ernest_at_the_Beach

Most of what the Washington Post reports today we already knew — the security at our consulate in Benghazi obviously didn’t meet even minimal standards, let alone the requirements of a diplomatic mission in an area where radical Islamist terrorist networks operate openly. The results of the terrorist attack attest to that much. The Post confirms, though, that the State Department never took those security concerns seriously, and implies that the late Ambassador Chris Stevens didn’t either:

On the eve of his death, U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens was ebullient as he returned for the first time in his new role to Benghazi, the eastern Libyan city that embraced him as a savior during last year’s civil war. He moved around the coastal town in an armored vehicle and held a marathon of meetings, his handful of bodyguards trailing discreetly behind.

But as Stevens met with Benghazi civic leaders, U.S. officials appear to have underestimated the threat facing both the ambassador and other Americans. They had not reinforced the U.S. diplomatic outpost there to meet strict safety standards for government buildings overseas. Nor had they posted a U.S. Marine detachment, as at other diplomatic sites in high-threat regions.

A U.S. military team assigned to establish security at the new embassy in Tripoli, in a previously undisclosed detail, was never instructed to fortify the temporary hub in the east. Instead, a small local guard force was hired by a British private security firm as part of a contract worth less than half of what it costs to deploy a single U.S. service member in a war zone for a year.

The discovery of Stevens’ journal by CNN in the burnt-out consulate — which the FBI still has yet to visit — indicated that Stevens had become increasingly in fear of his life, and wrote that he’d been put on an al-Qaeda hit list. However, earlier incidents should have made clear that State needed to provide better security, and that the need was increasing:

The U.S. outpost had a close call of its own June 6, when a small roadside bomb detonated outside the walls, causing no injuries or significant damage. But the Americans stayed put.

Geoff Porter, a risk and security analyst who specializes in North Africa, said the sudden and stark shift from “predictable violence to terrorism” in the east over the summer was unmistakable.

“The U.S. intelligence apparatus must have had a sense the environment was shifting,” he said.

Ernesto Londono and Abigail Hauslohner report that his friends didn’t hear any complaints from Stevens, and that he was excited to be back in Benghazi. However, their Libyan contacts tried to dissuade the Americans from any kind of public appearance, warning that security was deteriorating:

But if Stevens was deeply worried about deteriorating security, as CNN has reported he wrote in an entry in his journal, he kept quiet, said the Libyan friend who was with him the day before the attack.

“We didn’t talk about attacks,” the friend said. “He would have never come on the anniversary of September 11th if he had had any concerns.”

Three days before the attack, a U.S. official in Benghazi met with security leaders to ask them about the threat level, a senior Libyan official in the east said on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

The American did not disclose the ambassador’s visit.

“They told him, ‘Look, if there’s going to be any foreign presence [in the city], it better be discreet,’ ” the Libyan official said.

In other words, the State Department had plenty of indicators that the consulate in Benghazi was at high risk. The British had pulled out of the city entirely due to the deteriorating conditions in eastern Libya. Instead of bolstering security or moving diplomatic personnel back to the embassy in Tripoli, State did nothing — and sent Stevens into the city for a very public tour. Ironically, the US now won’t send FBI investigators within 400 miles of Benghazi now for the investigation into the terrorist attack because of security concerns in the Benghazi region.

Most of this has already been known or assumed, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t note the confirmation of the incompetence that left four Americans dead and a diplomatic installation an open target for radical Islamist terrorists.

Obama waives sanctions on (Muslim) countries that use child soldiers
Foreign Policy ^ | 10/1/2012 | Josh Rogin

Posted on Monday, October 01, 2012 3:47:25 PM by mojito

U.S. President Barack Obama issued a new executive order last week to fight human trafficking, touting his administration’s handling of the issue.

“When a little boy is kidnapped, turned into a child soldier, forced to kill or be killed — that’s slavery,” Obama said in a speech at the Clinton Global Initiative. “It is barbaric, and it is evil, and it has no place in a civilized world. Now, as a nation, we’ve long rejected such cruelty.”

But for the third year in a row, Obama has waived almost all U.S. sanctions that would punish certain countries that use child soldiers, upsetting many in the human rights community.

Late Friday afternoon, Obama issued a presidential memorandum waiving penalties under the Child Soldiers Protection Act of 2008 for Libya, South Sudan, and Yemen, penalties that Congress put in place to prevent U.S. arms sales to countries determined by the State Department to be the worst abusers of child soldiers in their militaries. The president also partially waived sanctions against the Democratic Republic of the Congo to allow some military training and arms sales to that country.

Bush signed the child-soldiers law in 2008. It prohibits U.S. military education and training, foreign military financing, and other defense-related assistance to countries that actively recruit troops under the age of 18. Countries are designated as violators if the State Department’s annual Trafficking in Persons report identifies them as recruiting child soldiers. The original bill was sponsored by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL).

Obama first waived the sanctions in 2010, the first year they were to go into effect. At that time, the White House failed to inform Congress or the NGO community of its decision in advance, setting off a fierce backlash.

Issa to Hillary: Why did State refuse requests to bolster Benghazi security?

The Right Scoop calls this a “bombshell,” which may underestimate the impact of the question posed by House Oversight Chair Darrell Issa to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Despite the CNN discovery of the late Ambassador Chris Stevens’ journal in which Stevens outlined his fears of terrorist attacks, the Obama administration has told the media that Stevens didn’t push those security issues with the State Department. According to the letter Issa sent today to Clinton, that may be yet another untruth pushed by the White House:

Benghazi: Multiple Requests for Increased Security Denied by Washington

Rush just said the the family of Christopher Stevens is posting on "social media" to question why no investigation has begun and why no one seems to care why or how their son died.

Don't know where Rush got this info. Haven't seen any news of this.

Tragic; stupefyingly callous. Reminds me of....Brian Terry and his family.

All personnel have been pulled out of Benghazi.

The US government can't possibly send anyone into Benghazi now. It's simply tooooo dangerous. Who knows when it will be safe to send in an investigative team. Maybe not til December or February even.....

U.S. Said to Be Preparing Potential Targets Tied to Libya Attack

The American military’s top-secret Joint Special Operations Command is preparing detailed information that could be used to kill or capture some of the militants suspected in the attack last month in Libya....

"Any decision to conduct kill-or-capture missions in Libya would almost certainly be made by Mr. Obama, after holding several classified meetings headed by John O. Brennan, the president’s top counterterrorism adviser, and involving the administration’s top national security deputies. American officials are also working closely with Libyan authorities who have been cooperating in the F.B.I.’s investigation into the attacks."

"..... The C.I.A. and Defense Department declined to comment."

"American counterterrorism officials now believe that Ansar al-Shariah likely had a general attack plan for the American Mission in Benghazi “on the shelf” and when the opportunity presented itself — specifically reports of the demonstration at the United States Embassy in Cairo and the breach of the walls there — that set the attack in motion, said one American official who has read classified intelligence reports on the attack. Did the White House order a cover-up over the murder of Libya's US Ambassador? [by Con Coughlin]

"But the real smoking gun is whether the Obama administration was warned in advance that al-Qaeda was planning an attack.

A number of Israeli newspapers have suggested that Washington was warned as early as September 4–a week earlier–that the environment in Benghazi was becoming increasingly hostile and anti-American, while in London the Foreign Office took the decision to withdraw all its consular staff from Benghazi two months before the murders. This decision was based on an intelligence assessment made by MI6 that al-Qaeda was openly operating in the area following a failed assassination attempt on Sir Dominic Asquith, Britain's ambassador to Libya,in June."

"It is well known that British intelligence works closely with its counterpart in America, and if MI6 knew al-Qaeda was operating in the Benghazi region, then it is highly likely that the CIA did too."

Suddenly the Administration's "it's nothing to do with us, guv,"defence is starting to look rather thin, with potentially disastrous consequences for Mr Obama's re-election prospects.

U.S. Consulate in Benghazi Bombed Twice in Run-Up to 9/11 Anniversary

"In the five months leading up to this year’s 9/11 anniversary, there were two bombings on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi and increasing threats to and attacks on the Libyan nationals hired to provide security at the U.S. missions in Tripoli and Benghazi. "

Details on these alleged incidents stem in part from the testimony of a handful of whistleblowers who approached the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform in the days and weeks following the attack on the Benghazi consulate.

GOP: Consulate received multiple threats, had requested security
By Julian Pecquet - 10/02/12 03:28 PM ET

Two House Republicans say they have been informed by whistleblowers that the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was attacked and threatened 13 times before the incident last month that killed four Americans.

Reps. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) sent Secretary of State Hillary Clinton a letter on Tuesday that detailed the whistleblowers’ allegations.

“Based on information provided to the Committee by individuals with direct knowledge of events in Libya, the attack that claimed the ambassador’s life was the latest in a long line of attacks on Western diplomats and officials in Libya in the months leading up to September 11, 2012,” Issa and Chaffetz wrote. “It was clearly never, as Administration officials once insisted, the result of a popular protest.”

The congressmen said the consulate asked for more security to deal with the growing threat but was turned down by the administration.

“In addition, multiple U.S. federal government officials have confirmed to the Committee that, prior to the September 11 attack, the U.S. mission in Libya made repeated requests for increased security in Benghazi. The mission in Libya, however, was denied these resources by officials in Washington.”

These are stunning and damning revelations. I can’t help wonder what Romney is going to do with this tomorrow night (if anything...sigh).

Early voters (huge number, I had no idea) won’t have this info.

I will miss tomorrow’s debate. Will tape. If you see a live thread, will you ping me please.

Ambassador Chris Stevens Knew his Killers. He Ran Them As Double Agents

"As the US tenses for more al Qaeda terror in Africa in the wake of the murders of Ambassador Chris Stevens in Benghazi, our researchers have turned up information indicating that the ambassador was running members of the group which murdered him as penetration agents against al Qaeda."

White House continues Benghazi stonewall
The Daily Caller ^ | 10/03/2012 | Neil Munro

Posted on Wednesday, October 03, 2012 3:28:13 AM by Nachum

White House spokesman Jay Carney is successfully stonewalling media questions about the Sept. 11, 2012, attack in Benghazi, Libya, amid damaging new revelations about security flubs, new congressional inquiries and the election-eve crash of the administration’s Muslim outreach strategy. “Embassy security is a matter that has been the purview of the State Department. … So I’m not going to have very much to provide to you on the security situation on the ground in Libya,” Carney told ABC’s Jake Tapper, in response to a question about the leaked news that requests by embassy staff
Great links on thread.

From the article:

In late September, Obama deputies — but not the president — dropped the claim that enraged anti-video protestors attacked the embassy.

But the attacks and attempted cover-up have damaged his poll ratings on foreign policy, and have prompted Republican nominee Mitt Romney to repeatedly criticize his foreign policy.

The policy was built around Obama’s June 2009 “new beginning” strategy of outreach to the Middle East.

That strategy helped Islamists gain power in Egypt’s general election, and spurred Obama’s decision to overthrow Libya’s dictator in 2011.

Those empowered and ambitious Islamist leaders in Egypt, Turkey and other countries are now pushing Obama to curb Americans’ free-speech, to provide more financial aid, and to increase pressure on Israel.

Islamists are also playing a leading role in Syria’s civil war against its dictator, Bashir Assad, and they have seized control of Northern Mali.

Mali is the country just south of Libya. Islamist jihadis, armed with weapons and experience from the Libyan war, have imposed Islamist rule on the norther part of the impoverished country.

Iran is also refusing to stop its nuclear weapons program.

Despite this and the Benghazi attack, few legacy media outlets are highlighting the collapse of the president’s 2009 strategy.

It is indeed going to hell, because fewer and fewer Americans seem to grasp its value. “Anti-Islam film sparks protest in Jakarta: Some 5,000 Muslims march through the Indonesian capital to U.S. embassy,” from The Associated Press, October 1 (thanks to Kenneth):
