Glenn to pro-Gingrich caller: “Throw my books away”
Glenn Beck Website ^ | January 19, 2012 | Glenn Beck

Posted on 01/20/2012 7:37:34 AM PST by Bevo

A caller called in and accused Glenn of drinking the “Mitt Romney Kool-Aid” and let’s just say that it did not go over well at all. The caller, clearly pro-Gingrich, got an earful from Glenn over his statements. While he was a fan who claimed to have all of Beck’s books, he clearly hadn’t read or listened to anything Glenn has said over the past few months and years.

“I’m drinking the Mitt Romney Kool-Aid by saying that I would vote for Rick Santorum?” Glenn asked.

As the caller tried to say that Glenn went after Gingrich’s anti-Romney ads, Glenn told him those attacks were full of “lies”. And when he finally admitted to the fact that he was pro-Newt, Glenn lost it.

“Throw my books away. I’ve obviously not influenced your life at all. I want you to throw every book I’ve written, throw it away,” Glenn said. “If you haven’t learned what a progressive is, throw them away. You never will.”

“Look, is there anything that’s more important to learn from me, and if you disagree, then you disagree. But is there anything more important to learn from me in the last few years than the evils of progressivism? The evils of Woodrow Wilson, Theodore Roosevelt and Andrew Jackson.”

“Because Newt Gingrich disagrees with me,” Glenn told the caller.

AdvertisementWhen the caller tried to tell him everyone had a flaw, Glenn told him to get off the phone.

“This is ridiculous. They all have their flaws. Have you even listened to a word of this show in the last two years about character making a difference, about the truth has no agenda, that you have to let the chips fall where they may; that you can’t dismiss warning signs, that you have to take people at face value on what they actually do and say?”

“That is a guy who is an absolute blind supporter of Newt Gingrich,” Pat said.

If Beck was serious he would have offered to buy the books back. Just more gorilla dust throwing by someone who long ago used up his 15 minutes of fame.

He’s not nuts... he’s just a Mormon. That’s how they are.

Does anybody else think Beck is attacking Gingrich so that he can help elect a fellow Mormon to the White House in Mitt Romney? Perhaps Glenn believes in the Mormon “White House Prophecy?”

Beck has a real blind spot when it comes to Gingrich, and I suspect his dislike for the man is more personal than political.

Gingrich has in fact expressed certain policy positions that one might fairly call "Progressive", and Beck has been correct to name them as such. But when one objectively compares Gingrich to Romney, is there any doubt about which one is more firmly wedded to Progressivism and which is more supportive of conservative ideals? I don't think it is even close.

Newt has some progressive leanings, but his overall record as Speaker is one most conservatives would love to be able to claim. As Rush said, the only person in this race who has actually cut spending is Newt.

While again, I certainly understand (and somewhat share) the concerns about Newt, it seems that Glenn and some others in the media has this almost irrational, deep seated hatred for the man. That, I don’t understand.

... the same way he treated the Constitutionalists on air, very very viciously, when callers would challenge him on Barry Soetoto’s NBC status...

That’s only cause they’re nuts.

He was always unwatchable and unlistenable for me. From his smug attitude, dumb humor and drama queen histrionics, I tried to watch a few times and just couldn’t stomach Beck. In print, I often agreed with him, I just couldn’t watch or listen.

whatever.. do your thing Glenn.. you aren’t for me.

Beck isn’t supporting Romney. He’s come out quite vocally for Santorum. However, he doesn’t bash Romney nearly as much as deserved, in my opinion.

Gingrich has his warts, but every one of them does. Gingrich will nail Obama to his cross and cart his ass out in November.

Notice how the MSM rarely says boo about Romney, but Newt’s fully on their radar? They know that they can defeat Romney if he gets the Republican nod, but Newt scares the stuffing out of them.

Beck is, as always, a Romneybot. He realizes that this would be unpopular with his conservative listeners so he says some favorable things about the non-viable Santorum in order to cover himself.

Bingo!

Glenn used to be the mouthpiece for the Tea Party Movement, back in the day.

Now, without him, the Tea Party has faded into the landscape. (Yes, I know a lot of folks, especially here, will say the Tea Party is still strong and vibrant. But where’s the proof?)

We need the Tea Party now more than ever, to capitalize on the great start that was made in the 2010 elections. Control of Congress is up for grabs this year just as much as the presidency, but where is the Tea Party to advance the cause? Who deserves Tea Party support this time around?

We need a new Glenn Beck.

Glenn has devolved into a frickin’ nutball, plain and simple. Whatever clarity and insight he had into the conservative vs progressive ideological debate has been subsumed by what I can only call dementia.

His programs on the radio have devolved into silly joke and laugh fests between he and dweebs he shares the mike with. Honestly, it is painful to listen to him any more. I wouldn’t say he has jumped the shark; I’d say the goddam shark ate him.

Sounds like he has gotten off the track?
I havn’t listen to him since he was on Fox.
Serious Beck was at his best when he dealt with the history of early progessivism, sheading light on groups like Acorn. Exposing people like Van Jones.
I miss funny Beck,too.
When he did stuff like moron trivia.

Beck is a Romneybot. He is doing his job to get Romney elected by pushing Santorum.

He is a complete kook.

Did Glenn Beck do some good things? Yes. But he needs to go away.

It would seem you were wrong.

Beck started his new GBTV venture with more paid subscribers than Oprah’s network has free-of-charge viewers.

Despite my disagreement with Beck with regard to Newt, I believe anyone who dismisses Beck for ANY reason is simply kidding themselves.

Are we to judge one solely on selective bits of past behavior? If so, then what are we to make of Glenn Beck and his past?

Perry had the right call on Gingrich and on Christian forgiveness, and it's a call that Glenn Beck himself has benefited from in his own personal transformation.

The Bible is full of fallen men who find redemption and purpose and we remember them today, thousands of years later.

Glenn Beck is right not to blindly trust and to look at one's past as one measure of character, and that is especially true for politicians and others who seek positions of trust and power.

But, Beck is sounding more and more like someone who's gone off the edge on some personal vendetta than someone I'd seek out for commentary and understanding.

Hey Glenn, you can't make a difference if you turn your audience away. Your radio panel sounds more like a post pubescent male junior high school gossip circle, than intelligent discussion group. (It's not too late. Study up on how the mighty fall, Glenn. It's becoming your story.)
