I always thought Romney was just a big government type. He’s a real slimebag!

Q: How come NBC didn’t try to sell that dead time on the feed?

A: They’re waiting for Obama to tell them how to run their business.

I’ve given up trying to understand the thought process.

Perry was buried here at FR because he didn’t oppose his state’s giving in-state tuition for illegals. But we all love Gingrich — and Gingrich has not once said he opposed Texas, or would do anything as president to stop Texas from giving in-state tuition for illegals.

And Here Gingrich seems to support some part of the federal dream act, which Perry opposed. Santorum is the best candidate on Illegal immigrants as expressed here at FR, but he gets trashed in this thread as if he’s some liberal RINO.

Mark Steyn gets trashed because he correctly points out all the places where Gingrich was not conservative — something everybody did here at FR until a couple of months ago, when it became “clear” that Gingrich was the best shot at stopping Mitt. Now that is a good reason to support Gingrich, but not to attack people who still point out that Gingrich isn’t Ronald Reagan, and isn’t particularly conservative on some of the issues that people claim matter.

Santorum did great tonight, and he won Iowa, but he’s “unelectable”, so we are all bad people if we say good things about Santorum and bad things about Gingrich.

I’ll support Gingrich over Romney, but Gingrich is certainly a sad result from what we had to choose from when all this started.

Well that was a lot more boring that it had to be (thanks to NBC), but I am confident Newt will kick Romney’s *ss in Florida now and win the nomination. The liberal cultist had his chance to destroy Newt and failed, and no real republican wants to vote for Romney. Newt is our next President.

Totally agree. Newt took Romney down by simply reminding everybody what McCain and Huckabee said about him in ‘08. Romney just bored the juice out of his debate in the first 1/3 of the debate by beating the horse to death on his Freddie Mac engagement. I think it was good that Williams let this air out. After Newt released the records today they can tear it apart but there’s probably not much there.

The other thing is that Newt named 2 congressman on the Freddie / Fannie committee who said Newt never approached them to lobby. Romney claimed Newt lobbied but could not give one name of anyone who will validate that. The air is out of this balloon.

Sandy Hume killed himself after he was arrested for drunk driving. The rest is gossip mongering of the meanest kind.

Right on. I was shocked to see this cr*p come up on FR yesterday. In trying to chase down where it was coming from, the only internet site I found with a recent discussion of it was the DUmpster. Made me wonder just how it jumped from there to here. Hmmm.

Anyway, there is absolutely zero, zilch, nada verification or confirmation anywhere ever that Sandy Hume was gay. There is zero evidence anywhere that Rep Paxon is gay. This vile hoax was begun (and, I thought, ended) in 1997 by Ann Northrup, who printed the unproven story in her column for the newspaper "Lesbian and Gay New York". She was a vile woman, who acknowledged at the time that she liked to "out" people for political purposes. With this fabrication she tried to tarnish the new (then conservative) Fox News, where Sandy Hume had recently become employed, and two conservative congressmen, Rep Paxon and Rep Gingrich. Other MSM would have loved the story to be true, and they tried like hell to verify it, but there was simply no there there.

I think the DUmpster is trying to float this old story again the same way they wouldn't let the story die about Sarah Palin not being Trig's mother. It's the same thing all over again, imo.

>>Is it just me, or would Rick Perry make an outstanding Vice President?<<

Not so sure about that. Personally I get an uncomfortable feeling about Perry. I certainly don’t like his positions on Muslims. I lived in Texas for 5 years until hurricane Ike sunk the yacht I lived on and wasn’t all the impressed with Perry but not against him either. I just wouldn’t feel comfortable putting him in the national level.

1, ded
2, de-yed
3, de-ye-duh

The Terri Schiavo incident is still charged. Paul took the minimal response.

Newt took the stark comparison of the state killing an innocent citizen versus the appeals granted a condemned murderer.

You say Jeb didn't "wimp out"; he began boldly to defend and promptly caved to Judge Greer, George Felos, and Michael Schiavo.

Frist, too, began boldly, and promptly caved.

The water is still too hot for Jeb to run now as the establishment's Plan B.

But if they vote AGAINST the appropriations, then the earmarks are moot.

You’re not saving any money by NOT earmarking; you’d only save money by voting against spending (the appropriations bills).

When you earmark AND vote against spending, you’re saying no to spending any money, but if it passes, then you want the money to come back to the people, not be pissed away by the Administration, which will get all the money not earmarked....then Obama gets to give it to all his buddies and their projects...with no accountability. Does Solyndra ring any bells?
