Military Is Telling Catholic Chaplains What They Can And Can't Say About the Obama Administration
Business Insider ^ | Feb 3, 2012 | Michael Brendan Dougherty

The emerging conflict between the Catholic Church and the Obama administration may have a new front: in the U.S. military itself.

The Catholic Church is fighting mad about an HHS ruling that would have them buy insurance for things they consider sinful–contraception, sterilization and abortion.

All the bishops in the country sent out a letter to be read in their parishes promising that the Church "cannot-and will not-comply with this unjust law."

Even Archbishop Timothy Broglio, who is in charge of Catholic military chaplains sent out the same letter.

But after he did, the Army's Office of the Chief of Chaplains sent out another communication forbidding Catholic priests to read the letter, in part because it seemed to encourage civil disobedience, and could be read as seditious against the Commander-in-Chief.

More than one Catholic chaplain who spoke to us off the record confirmed that many chaplains disobeyed this instruction and read the letter anyway.

The letter also tries to clarify to priests that the Archbishop's letter "concerns a moral, not a political issue."

While it is true that soldiers do not have an unlimited right to free speech or political action, the military does not want to strain relations with the Catholic Church and its chaplains who provide services to many service members of all faiths.

Nowhere man...not only sugar but tobacco, where can one smoke anymore, too much salt in the food, too many carbs in the school’s cafeteria and money machines, only lean meat is good for you, only certain oils are good, need I go on? Pretty soon they’re going to tell us which side of the bed to get out of.

Yeah, I'm getting tired of it. It reminds me of the last scene in "Demolition Man" (set in 2032) where the underground people came above ground demanding their freedom, one driving a 1970 Oldsmobile 442.

Getting back to the subject, I admire people who serve in the military and my hats off to them. The downside is they are serving an America that really no longer exists or at least is being transformed. We are not the nation of World War II or even the 1970's/1980's era of "Baseball, hotdogs, apple pie and Chevrolet" anymore.

I'm 45 so I'm past the age, but I cannot join the military today in good conscience (besides, I'm too much of a renegade to begin with, but that aside) because I might be ordered to do something bad and not within our Constitution. I know men who served in Vietnam and later who even said that the way things are now, they would disown any of their kids (even beat them up too) if they would join and if there was a draft, they would send them to Canada, Costa Rica, and so on. I do understand their cynicism, I'm a cynic myself. Still if we were attacked, they would most likely join the unorganized militias instead like the Ohio Militia and so on.

It's a shame really. B-(

This is disgusting!...And now he wants to cut combat pay for anyone who is not being shot at...as if the lines were so clearly drawn!

We both know there is no such thing as “enemy lines” anymore, and especially in the current situation.

Had a young man sent home last month with both legs blown off in an IED explosion against a vehicle.

We all know that the huge portion of deaths injuries in the insurgent phase of Iraq were to troops in convoy.

One of the problems with a commander in chief who has never been there is that he doesn’t have a clue. If he’s so sure of this, then let him go to Afghan without his retainers and guards and mount up in a convoy of transporters.

There is no problem with any soldier (chaplain included) saying that a policy from any administration is screwed up.

What they can’t do is speak contemptuously of the Commander in Chief. It is not contempt to say that a president is wrong.

If soldiers can’t complain about their highers, then every army we’ve ever had would’ve been drawn and quarters. Complaining about higher is second only to complaining about food. It’s what soldiers do.

HOLY SMOKES, (I used to be one) I didn’t know that. I’ve always thought they were a pure red blooded American family. So the phrase goes back a couple of generations.

I agree. Unfortunately, with this crop of republican candidates for president, NOT ONE, has worn the uniform of our country, except Ron Paul, and he doesn’t care for the military. I think the military may have paid for his medical education. He served 5 years and that’s the minimun service Drs serve for the military paying for their education. He proudly said “he was called and he went, even though he was married and had 2 kids. My reason for this opinion.

Nice to see you pay so much attention.

Well put.

Not that I agree 100% but still above average put.

I’m fairly certain it goes back 60-110 years.

Certainly 60 years, imho.

And, the movement . . . goes back 400 years.

There’s plausible evidence it goes back to the elites of Rome.

Money and Power has learned over the centuries ways to mostly hold onto . . .

money and power—at least within the extended family and then the extended club of elites.

The bit about Granddad B funding Hitler was documented by Congress.

I’m sure dogpile.com could find it.

That is exactly my concern. There are no “front lines” - the threat is everywhere. There is no such thing as “those who are being fired at” and “those that are not being shot at.” What foolishness!!!

This is what we are up against . . . as agents of satan himself:

139."The distribution of birth control devices and the imposition of mandatory abortion practices in the third world countries is now ecologically insufficient and unfairly out of world social balance. The white, upper and middle class females of modern society are too healthy and fertile to be exempted from some imposed regulation of international law or mandate. An American born child is environmentally too expensive to maintain to his or her adulthood in a world economy. American women must be subjected to some manner of regulation beyond licensing or immediate and mandatory abortion practices. Unconventional and extreme measures must be implemented and enforced by global U.N. mandate as it is deemed necessary.

The bodies of these world eco-criminals should be commercially yielded [rendered--turned into constituent parts] for reintroduction in the world's natural systemic food and nutrient chains, in order to restore a more natural biological balance and order to our Sacred Earth." -- Jacques Cousteau, in his address to the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, 1992.

.

Ain't that sweet in behalf of mother earth? Gag.

If that is the case about America’s healthy women and abortion, how about the muslim women popping out children like popcorn?

INDEED.

However, the Marxist globalist socialist propagandists have always known how to feed bread and circuses to distract the masses.

The Muzzies are scheduled for extermination by the

Marxist globalist socialists, too—perhaps more than most others because they know that the Muzzies are amongst the least assimilatable percentage wise, I’d guess.

The PTB have set it up so the ‘Christian’ [former] nations and the Muzzies and the Chinese and Ruskies will be destroying each other . . . which is what the globalists want, in large part.
