Opus Time
Vanity Opus

Posted on 04/17/2012 4:47:30 PM PDT by Williams

Well it's been about 13 years forgot my initial sign in name, so pretty much from the beginning.

Never wanted to write a Free Republic Opus, love reading news stories here and commenting every day.

Would rather not go out in anger seems pointless.

Then today the owner of the site called me a RINO (I'm not), surrender monkey (not) and told me to write my opus and get out.

My sin was fighting with someone who suggested Obama losing in the latest poll is "bad news".

I could list all the insanity of what is going on here. I've tried to approach Jim Robinson in email to gently suggest the problems we are facing. It's clear from that he is not interested in discussing and resolving anything, which is a shame.

But what kind of man, American, conservative will I be if I worry more about losing my 12 year old screen name versus standing up to people who are espousing the advisability of reelecting Barack Hussein Obama, and yes if I fail to stand up to the owner of a site for calling me a liberal when I am a proud conservative?

What Jim Robinson is doing cannot work because first of all he is NOT attacking the posters who say it is best to reelect Obama. He's offended by anyone who says he is thereby supporting Obama. But he doesn't mind calling us names when we attack the pro Obamas.

OK folks, it's not going to work. You can't really oppose Obama's reelection if you may also oppose the republican's election.

Free Republic has become a house divided against itself and it cannot stand.

I'm a conservative I love my country, I have to wish away to the cornfield anyone who would assist in the reelection of Obama, from whatever misguided motivations.

I stand with Dick Cheney. The other day I had to fight with someone disparaging Cheney here. They were not criticized by the owner.

Jim Robinson owes me an apology. Not planning on getting one. The sad fact is I am not writing this because I'm offended. It's because I want to no longer assist here in the destruction of my country by those who will, to varying degrees, assist in Obama's reelection.

Six or seven liberals on the Supreme Court? Maybe atomic destruction down the pike after our disarmament. Israel destroyed. 2nd Amendment neutered. Obamacare used to deny people medical care based on age and political beliefs. Racial strife. A welfare socialist state. US attorneys going after republicans.

My wife is a cancer survivor who reasonably fears that in the future they will deny her care because she is a registered republican. And she's no RINO, she hates Obama and she won't read Free Republic stories anymore because of what is going on here.

We have a real country and real lives out here that go beyond Jim Robinson's ill advised name calling against sincere conservatives who dare to disagree with him.

So F anyone who calls me a RINO for standing with Dick Cheney and against Barack Obama. I hate RINO's and I despise misguided so called conservatives who do anything to reelect Obama.

13 years, but it's nothing when put to the wall on my beliefs against the left wing democrat party. I have too many mirrors to look in. The people here who are every day posting that it will be best to reelect Obama, should be thrown off. Instead, well...

It's over.

I view you as a leader of a fiercely and passionately conservative faction -- and a somewhat sizable one at that. Not because you are the forum owner, there are plenty of forum owners... no, it is because you've stayed true to your principles.

Bears repeating. BIGTIME!

Either way it’s an act of suicide. It carries the same karma either way.

true. Plus we will have proven that conservatives will vote for the R no matter what. They don’t have to listen to any protests, they’ll know for a fact that all the dissent is meaningless and toothless.

Either way it’s an act of suicide. It carries the same karma either way.

All three options (poison, bullet, or attack the murderer) lead to the 'suicide', and since one is given an impossible choice, it is not 'suicide', but 'murder', and carries no kharmic stigma.

And how foes defeating Obama stop the socialist takeover of a nation that is already socialist? Romney is a fig leaf offered by the state run media and GOP-e - a pat on the head and a there there to the quaint little conservative American.

Believe me, they’re coming for us. Now or later, they’re coming for everything.

Laz, I too found it very surreal the other day. Seeing Jim Rob resort to the same type of discourse I'd expect from an occutard was very out of character for him as well as the Freepers I've counted on over the years.

While I agree that Romney is a disaster for conservatives and our nation, we are where we are. Oklahoma has already had its primary. Santorum won. I voted Santorum. If this nation chooses Romney, it tells me we need to do more as conservatives and educate our country. The fault does not lie with those of us who feel we'd be better off choosing a RINO over an America-hating Marxist. It lies with those that have brought us to this choice.

My son,(hollywoodusmc) whom many fellow Freepers welcomed back from Iraq, and his wife gave us our first grand-daughter in the last year. I would like to think her future would be better the sooner we remove the marxist. I may be wrong. If I am, I'd like to hear someone make the case, rather than just tell me FU!!, and think that's a persuasive argument.

I realize the last perfect person walked this earth about 2000 years ago. I know folks can say things in frustration they may later regret. Rather than pointing our fingers at each other, maybe we should do what the founders did. Three percent is still a lot more of us than them. While there's time.

Same here ;)

I fail to see what fogs the vision of so many here. Why is it such a shock that the guy who created a conservative site is promoting ideals? And horror of horrors, sticking to them?

It never fails. In any chaotic situation, most people run around like chickens with their heads cut off. And when one guy stands up and says ‘Woha!” the first thing they do is turn on him as if he were the source of the problem. It never fails.

I also find it ‘funny’ that it’s these very same people crying out for ‘leadership’ by conservatives cannot see it in front of their face. Or they see it, but they just don’t like what they see...that they car told to make a choice that may hurt them financially etc. They are told the choice is not easy. They are told to think not just of now, but of the future. It’s the right choice, but they ‘can’t do THAT!!!! Because their home/business/et all may suffer!

The founding fathers put up their own and their family’s lives. Today’s ‘patriots’ cannot be bothered to keep up their principles. What is wrong with this picture?

No I am not surprised that they can’t see leadership. They wouldn’t follow it anyway.

You stuff it. Dick Cheney has indeed done great things. This is not one of them. Again, tell me how any persons can simultaneously abandon and uphold things they claim to believe in. Whether it’s you, me, Cheney, Levin or Phyllis Diller.

Sounds to me like you are in way over your head. If the best you can do is compare Dick Cheney to Phyllis Diller, I think it's time for you to wipe, flush and get on with your life's work.

All three options (poison, bullet, or attack the murderer) lead to the 'suicide',...

You are quite wrong about that. And there is no 'h' in karma.

I would say, however, that if the FR policy is to oppose the GOP nominee if it is Romney, then it ought to try to turn it into a positive course of action and find some other candidate to get behind, instead of simply being against Romney

I believe that's exactly what JimRob did in January. I haven't seen him post anything to make me think he's changed his mind.

I hope that a Republican victory doesn’t ride on the Freeper vote.

I'd put it just a tiny bit differently.."I hope that an Osama Obama repudiation doesn’t ride on the Freeper vote".

Personally...I don't know Dick Cheney. I've liked his apparent common sense...in the past. I think he is a smart guy. A prudent guy. A man that I would like to be friends with.

Why he threw his hat in the ring for Romney....I don't know.

Maybe it's just loyalty to the "Party"...I don't know.

Divided we fall.

Divided we are.

Those who seek to further divide us only further our fall.

Too bad too many refuse to see that.
