A dozen conservative activists interacted with dinner attendees including Woody Harrelson and Chris Matthews.
As the nations elite journalists arrived at the Washington Hilton to hobnob with President Obama at the White House Correspondents Dinner, many were met by a small group of protesters shouting "don't believe the liberal press" and holding signs adorned with photos of deceased conservative activist Andrew Breitbart.
A few notable attendees politely mixed it up a bit with the protesters, who also shouted accusations of hypocrisy at the well-dressed journalists and Hollywood celebrities.
Protester Kevin Martin asked MSNBC host Chris Matthews why he wasn't driven to the event in a hybrid vehicle and whether he intended to donate uneaten food from the soiree to the "one percent," a reference to the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Matthews listened politely and even said the protesters "make a good point."

Some who walked by the group gave the middle finger, others said things like, "Oh brother, Breitbart people." A smaller number of people, including Republican Representatives Allen West and Tim Scott, offered thumbs up and words of encouragement.
The group of demonstrators are members of Free Republic, a conservative organization. This is their 13th year protesting in front of the annual dinner, but this year the group dedicated their demonstration to Breitbart, who died in March.

I disagree. I know the East Coast FReepers, DC Chapter in particular, have not been as active as the past, not as large of crowds as before, but we are still out there creating memorable FReeps.
The DC Chapter is alive and kicking as seen in this past Christmas Party. There are a number of new faces mixed in with the old faces.
FR can be proud though of being the fore runners of the "Tea Party". We were protesting the stimulus bill and big government back on February 10,2009, before there was even a Tea Party.
We can also be proud of holding down the fort for all these years until the "silent majority" finally became the "loud" majority. Our members include or have included Breitbart, Tony Snow, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin to name a few who have moved on to their own fame.
Not getting a lot of exposure is that DC Chapter is still countering the Quakers in Olney, MD. This past Saturday was Week 327. We are currently planning for our 6th Recruiter Appreciation Day on Friday, May 18. While Walter Reed is no longer a Friday night staple for the regulars that were there, it is still talked about when we gather. FReepers who stood with us at Walter Reed even once go away with a lasting memory, proud to have stood with the DC Chapter.
DC Chapter with supporters protecting Arlington Circle during the moonbats march on March 17,2007. We were part of the Gathering of Eagles Support the Troops counter rally. Our banner says "Go to hell traitors, you dishonor our dead on hollowed ground". Now this is a memory us "newbies" cherish.

And on Jan. 10,2009, the Saturday before "The One's" inauguration, the DC Chapter countered Hamas supporters at Lafayette Square. The radical Muslims stormed across the street to where we were. We were nose to nose with them before police from 3 jurisdictions pushed the radicals back to their side.
While I joined FR after what you describe as the good old days, the DC Chapter has a lot of good recent memories.
We may not have the large numbers you remember, but we have a big spirit.
[Mr] T
Thank you very much, trooprally!! We just keep on FReepin’!!
PING!
Did you read the comments at the link to the picture of 3 freepers? I think it might be good to disable the link...?
Thanks DC for being there. Wish I could have made it again!
"Mister President, there is a term for you, just not a second one."
Thanks for posting this, Kristinn! (long time no see!!)
I’ve been waiting and waiting to hear how it turned out and my heart aches for not being there!
Sounds like a real successful FReep! Looking forward to reading all the links and seeing the pictures. So many FRiends from so many great times!!
Boy... they really have the intellectual elites there. < /s>
Or is it the big campaign donors and ass kissers?
Thanks!
Bringing up the rear on comments—
Thanks to all my fellow freepers who came out in the bad weather and made this a successful freep. It was a great time but after getting to sleep only at 3AM on Saturday, I was too tired to get on the computer until now.
Oh, and thanks for the Christmas Party link. Never saw that before.
One of the other most talked about FReeps other than the Gore FReeps is the 2007 Gathering of Eagles Rally. Thanks to ConcreteBob, FR had a role in its success. That day we actually out numbered the moonbats by 3-1, and it was cold (30s), damp, muddy, and very windy. We endured the weather from sun up til mid day but it was well worth it.
[Mr] T
Good job kristinn!

It's never fun to stand for several hours in a cold rain, but we barely noticed it on Saturday... Trueblackman in particular kept us (and many bystanders) well entertained! (Try the Snoopy Surprise!" ROTFL) Trueblackman, you are truly a treasure at FR! Your "stand up routine" on the street was better than Jimmy Kimmel's, in our opinion! :-)
Thank you DC FReepers, including those who worked behind the scenes on posters, permits, finances, etc. The DC Chapter of Free Republic has been organizing and holding this particular WHCA Dinner FReep for 13 consecutive years: rain or shine, heat or cold. Please make plans to join us in 2013!
Also... don't forget the DC Chapter's weekly vigils (in all kinds of weather) for many years at Walter Reed Hospital, honoring our veterans and protecting them from the venom of Code Pinkos and other malcontent moonbats.
The DC Chapter also organized/participated in the incredible "Gathering of Eagles" rally (and accompanying rally at Arlington Circle) on March 17, 2007 (see post #51), along with countless other rallies in the DC area since FR first came into being in the late 1990s. Amazing!
God bless you all, DC Chapter, and I hope we can FReep with you again, perhaps in a few months (?), as this is an important election year.
Eagles Up!!!
PS: Don't miss important links on this thread in Posts 1, 26 (stratman1969's fantastic videos and photos!) and 51.
Special thanks to Paul Bond, who wrote a fantastic (and fair) article about us in The Hollywood Reporter.

Should have been "mighty DC Chapter of Free Republic". Grrr!
36½.... LOL!
Stratman,
In case you want to update your blog, that was the entire Five at Five crew (or at least the ones that count) in the Suburban: Greg Gutfeld, Andrea Tantaros, Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Eric Bolling.

Thank you nutmeg
BTTT
Thanks for the ping! :-)
Thanks Buford, I’ll add that.
“Snoopy Surprise” originated with me. Trueblackman took it and ran with it.
OK, now we know where that one came from, LOL! I couldn't stop laughing every time I heard it!
I came up with "Baked Alaskan Malamute", although I admit I stole that one from Howie Carr. Howie had an absolute field day on WRKO (Boston) when he learned that The One had eated dog in Indonesia. ;-D
It was very nice to meet you on Saturday, TSR, by the way. Hope to see you and the DC Chapter members again. THANK YOU for your tireless efforts at Walter Reed... all FReepers owe you a huge debt of gratitude.
Thank you for the ping to your wonderful report!
God bless and Keep you!
I’m so happy you were there with Our Fabulous DC Chapter!!!
Cloward - Piven Strategy.
The genius of Cloward-Pivan, frankly, is that it makes it hard (if not impossible) to focus opposition on just ONE reason to despise this Administration. They were able to focus all their energy on “W” over Iraq, and to beat that drum to a fare thee well.
Im so happy you were there with Our Fabulous DC Chapter!!!
Thank you for your kind words, onyx!
It's been awhile since we've gotten together with the wonderful DC Chapter of Free Republic... it was an honor to FReep with the best once again. ;-)
FreeRepublic Breitbarts.
Excellent job...I think Breitbart would have liked it.
That was awesome!
“Get out of Cheney’s house!”...
That was pretty awesome, too!
Time to start Victory Gardens...there is a book by that name, I think.
No room outside for a garden? Think of hydroponics (sic?). Norwegians do it sometimes.
Keep on Freepin’! DC Chapter is an inspiration!
Ah, I’m late to the party....what is the Snoopy Surprise, TSR?
"Keep on Freepin!"
10-4 on that. It makes it easier with some new, invigorated FReepers and lurkers. The last 2 years at Walter Reed we saw about 6 new faces with most becoming regulars there every Friday night. They now support our other FReeps.
[Mr] T
Just one of the things Obama’s Indonesian stepfather might have served him while his family was living there.
Yes, there was one young lady and she actually did look a bit like ML back in those days. Clinton had so many negatives it was fun freeping him over those in those days.
