Coyote-human coexistence urged as animals migrate [to San Francisco's Golden Gate Park]
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | June 2, 2012 | Peter Fimrite

The revelation, along with photographic proof, that at least three coyote puppies were recently born in Golden Gate Park raises some interesting questions about the future of the park - namely, how much time before roving packs of yipping wild predators drive humans and their decidedly un-wily pets out?

That, at least, is what the alarmists are asking, and the answer, according to the experts, is "never." The presence of coyotes in the city is good for the ecosystem, city officials and wildlife experts said, even if a few feral cats go missing.

"It is important that people recognize that coyotes are part of our ecosystem and that they have intrinsic value and ecological value," said Camilla Fox, the executive director of Project Coyote, a Larkspur nonprofit that consults with cities, ranchers and other groups on ways to live with coyotes without resorting to bullets, traps and poison.

Maybe the hippie "conservationists" in SF will open a free-range coyote petting zoo / day care center for their children.

Two good things would come of that... Fewer "hippie babies" to grow up to hippie "adults," and well fed coyotes.

“The rats were as big as cats”

What kind of cats? We have a Calico Shorthair that weighs 13 pounds, if I ever see a rat that big I am reaching for the .270 and there are Maine coon cats that could eat our Shorthair.

Yep. Only one of my neighbor’s dogs is a climber. He can get a good way up a straight tree and if the tree has any slant can usually get into the branches.

The other dog stays on the ground. At first I thought he was lazy, but have since decided it’s a tag team tactic. If whatever is treed gets down, the “ground crew” is there in waiting. They are litter mates and were trained together.

It’s pretty amazing the way they work together. The only thing that I have a problem with is they are glass eyed. Makes them look spooky. But that has to do with personal preference. I like dogs with the usual eye color, lol.

My brother has a gi-normous Maine coon. Biggest house cat I have ever seen. He’s as sweet as can be, but the canine population flees in fear when he strolls thru. He was there first and has evidently established that he is Kitty King. :)

“I just wanna get me a bottle of liquid hole.”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Where I live every house used to have its own water well, most had been dug by hand with pick and shovel. They were large diameter of necessity, you had to have room for a man to work and fill a bucket with dirt and or stones to be raised and emptied by another man or two with a windlass. When people started replacing them with small diameter wells drilled by machines I came up with the bright idea of cutting the old wells up into small pieces and selling ready made post holes but I couldn’t seem to get any financial backing, something about people thinking I had lost my mind or something, never could understand it.

We have a couple of TN cats that are 13+ lbs each, but our desert ferals are circa 10 lbs. each. I have a friend who owns two Maine Coons. One of them is 18 lbs. Not certain about the other. I referred to the standard inner-urban 8 lb. kitties. Those were very large Norwegian-type rats with really ugly fur colors (brown and gray—yuck.)

All those who are of Scandinavian descent, especially those who are big and tall like me, should have more sense than to vote Democrat, I just don’t understand it.

4000 holes in Blackburn,Lancashire.
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes
To fill the Albert Hall.

I agree except for spiders which are good for the garden.

Also the Bible preferred them.

Spiders are ok IN THEIR PLACE. However, they like to be indoors, and that is so not ok. Also, we have black widows here in LA, and I don’t like them either. Especially.
