In Case You Don't Like Romney... A Challenge To Every FReeper

In Case You Don't Like Romney...

Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election …

“If Romney wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who may have hesitation on that score, I’d just ask you to keep four things in mind:

1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78

2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year

3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August

4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago and has had cancer twice.

Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court — in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.

If you don’t think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think you’re smokin’ something funky….”

So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didn’t get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win ... just imagine this possibility:

'SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER'

Did that get your attention!

The following is true about Bambi, I think you'll agree:

1. Most pro culture of death administration ever (pro abortion, etc.).
2. Most anti free enterprise, pro-Marxist administration ever.
3. Most anti-Christian administration ever.
4. Most anti-American administration ever.
5. Most destructive economic administration ever.
6. Most pro-green administration ever (anti-market driven energy)
7. Most divisive administration ever.
8. Most anti-constitutional administration ever.
9. Most lawless (willing to skirt the law) administration ever.

I believe David Limbaugh has a book detailing (with a lot more reasons, 150 to be exact) just how bad this administration is, care to comment?

As usual, you fail to grasp the point. Study the policies and actions of Andropov and Chernenko, and contrast them with Gorbachev, this has nothing to do with Reagan.

If Romney fails to live up to constitutional standards, then we remove him in 2016. We will not reclaim the nation in one election and we must not allow our distaste of Romney to stand in the way of winning this important battle.

In the entire history of the United States, only *one* president has ever been elected into office and then been denied his party's nomination for re-election. It was Franklin Pierce in 1857. Your buyer's remorse recovery plan has a very low statistical probability for success -- it approaches zero.

If we give Romney this opportunity, we all become democrats. We become the party of pro-abortion, pro-homosexuality, pro-bailout, pro-stimulus, pro-defenselessness, and pro-healthcare-rationing. Why? Because that is what we elected to lead us.

The "republican" brand becomes horrifically damaged. Kiss goodbye any opportunity to make further advancements in the House or Senate in 2014 and 2016. And if Romney keeps the Executive Office for two terms -- before handing it back to a "D" liberal -- we'll live under liberal rules for the next 16 years. The Democrats nationwide will love working with Romney just like they love working with him in Massachusetts. He's good for their cause.

We can either endure four more years of Obama, gain conservative strength in both the House and Senate every year, and try again to elect a *real* conservative in 2016. Or we can have four to eight years of Romney advancing the same socialist agenda held by Obama, lose strength in the House and Senate every year, and hand the Executive Office back to the Democrats with the Congress thoroughly stacked in their favor ... and not have a shot at fixing it until 2020 or 2024.

It's a no brainer; I'm voting for Virgil Goode instead of evil. But you might get your wish anyway. Romney might win as Obama is working mighty hard to hand this election to him. You might not recognize it yet, but as Obama pushes further and harder to the left (in order to make Romney appear conservative by contrast) it will become apparent he is throwing this election. It's the only way he gets out of the hot seat without handcuffs or impeachment papers. And who better to trust his agenda to than Romney for a term or two. It's a win-win for him. So ... you might just "win" too.

No, it has been well established how bad the current regime is. How about you, care to comment on how a hypothetical President Romney will improve things after kicking 0bama to the curb?

To the contrary, Chernenko wanted a return to Brezhnevs policy’s, Gorbachev was a bridge away from the old hardliners.
But this isn’t about them, this is about getting away from Obama’s policy’s.

“Records count. Romney’s record of Court appointments doesn’t lend well to this argument. His record indicates that his choices wouldn’t be substantially different than Obama’s.”

Read my mind.

There are several closed minds on FR that insist we pick either Obama or Romney. And that refusing to pick one of them means we have picked the other.
Many of them have recently signed on to FR. I’m convinced they’re paid operatives of the Romney campaign, to infiltrate this conservative site.

Seriously, whom would you say are the more likely trolls:
Those whose actions (or inaction) will more likely lead to an Obama victory or a Romney victory?

Yes, he is. RomneyCare is about as Marxist as can be.

My tagline says it all.

The current administration is so destructive I don't think we can survive it. There are so many bad actors and horrid people there, they will reek havoc in four years. If the few things I outlined are true (I believe you agree), there is no choice but to boot them to the curb.

I’m of the opinion (and of course all of us here have one) that we cannot endure another Obama term in Office. I’m also of the opinion that Obama can’t win another term. He no longer has that kind of support. For me, that’s reality. I live in California. My vote hasn’t counted since George Herbert Walker Bush took California.

My vote is NOT a protest.

Indeed not, FRiend. It is an oar in the water, one of millions, steering this ship of state! I'm not voting "against" anything but statism. I'm voting third party knowing that either Obama or Romney will be the next pres (unless we have a miracle). My vote, millions of votes, will be counted and heard. I'm voting FOR a specific thing: to help the ship tend to a rightward course. Voting left is the wrong way to go, and Romney, for all his Republican label, is clearly a leftist.

Congress conservatives will have the best chance if the next president, an authoritarian statist either way, is weak and on defense. When he takes office looking at a nation where two out of three voted against him, that will be the beginnings of a rightward course.

My point is did the people of Russia suffer more under Gorbachev or Andropov/Chernenko?

Would we suffer more under Obama or Romney?

I say vote for the nominee and stack the Congress/Senate and every down ballot vote down to local dog catcher with conservatives IF we can get them elected.

Virgil Goode aint getting elected.

You are wasting your time debating the Anybody but Romney crowd. ABR’s prefer the marxist kenyan in the WH to the GOP nominee. No fact you spell out will change that delusion.

“Yea, Romney's past sucks...”

I’ve had it with the suggestion that his past is meaningless and we should believe what he is saying today..or tomorrow...or the next time he changes his position.

To me Romney is a Trojan horse. He gets in the liberal agenda will be enacted by someone calling himself a conservative but governing as a liberal.

I wont vote for a liberal no matter how he tries to disguise it and no matter who his flavor of the month advisers are..

Well done, Linda.

With Obama, it was "hope and change." With ABO, it's "hope he'll change."

Thanks. I didn’t know and hadn’t researched it any. I did remember Guiliana getting hit hard and he had very little say as he was presented nominees from which to choose from.

thanks for the info.

The latest Rasmussen poll shows Romney at 48% R 44% O with 4% other and 4% undecided.

If those 4% would stop belly aching, it would be 52% R 40% O.

Virgil Goode is likely to get 1% of the vote.
Bachmann 1%
Newt 1%
Santorum 1%
etc etc.
