Maybe Roberts Got it Right After All
Self | June 28, 2012 | Alberta's Child

Posted on 06/28/2012 6:54:37 PM PDT by Alberta's Child

Upon further review and discussion here, I've concluded that the majority opinion of Chief Justice Roberts in the ObamaCare case was exactly what this country needed. He effectively took the heap of crap that had been dumped in the halls of the U.S. Supreme Court and tossed it right back out where it belongs: in the homes and businesses of every U.S. citizen who has allowed this bunch of fools in Washington to govern us this way.

Think of it, folks ... Any obligation of the U.S. Supreme Court to deal with this idiocy went out the window the moment that dingbat Nancy Pelosi stood up on television and said: "We have to pass the bill to see what's in it."

If I were a Supreme Court justice, I wouldn't spend 30 seconds of my life reading a single legal brief in a case involving a Federal statute that was passed even though the Speaker of the House of Representatives didn't even read the damn thing before voting on it.

On top of all that, just consider this: There were 28 states that filed legal challenges to ObamaCare, either individually or jointly. How can 28 states file legal challenges to a Federal law that was passed in the U.S. Senate by a 60-39 margin? If I'm sitting on the Supreme Court and the Attorney General of, say, Pennsylvania (which is one of these 28 states) comes in for oral arguments in the case, my first and only "question" would be: "If you have such a problem with this Federal statute, why don't you take it up with Bob Casey, Arlen Specter and those nine House members in your state who passed the damn thing ... along with the idiots in your state who cast their electoral votes for that jug-eared Kenyan nitwit in 2008?"

Thanks for pointing that out. That’s the hope I’ve been clinging to since this morning.

“Conservative business will now terminate many lib employees or pay dearly.”

We should all be looking at what areas of commerce we should support. Have a JP Morgan account? Get out. Jamie Dimon was an early supporter of Obama. Eat Ben & Jerry’s? Change brands. Do you use Progressive insurance? Change companies. How about your doctor or lawyer or hometown banker? Are they liberals? Find other professionals. Look at where you spend your hard earned dollars! Do not subsidize these people! Oh and one more thing....stay away from companies that operate on the government dole, including GE and others of their ilk. Buy another brand of appliance.

Yep. I am usually Little Suzy Sunshine, but this ruling is just so unbelievably bad.

You are missing the point. The Supreme Court’s job is not to weigh in on whether it is a good bill or not.

That's exactly true. We elect leaders that make bad laws that are constitutional. I'm no scholar but to call this a "tax" is changing the original argument. They made stuff up. Because, if they used that idiot government lawyer's argument, this should have been 9-0 victory.

Thank you. I threw this out there knowing full well that maybe 90% of the responses would be against me, but there isn’t a better bunch of folks anywhere on the ‘Net to discuss and debate these things than what we’ve got right here on FreeRepublic.

What would be more satisfying?
1. O-care struck down by the SC 5-4?
or
2. A republican congress and president striking it down after a landslide election?

Bingo! Well put!

No Roberts punted the ball to the Nov election. The law is unconstitional, but if he would have agreed the MSM would have beat the drum from now til the election. We took one argument away from the Dems and I expect it to bring out more conservatives to vote in Nov then if Obamacare was struck down.

The media & democrats, after their end-zone dance today, will do their damn level best to put this issue far in the past as soon as possible. Reid said as much - 'its over, lets move on'.

I can see why they'd want to. We cannot allow them to do that.

That should be none of their concern, their job is to interpret the law, not worry about elections.

Roberts made it eassentially a tax law and sends it back to Congress to deal with. If the House overturns it and sends it perfunctorily to the Senate, only 51 votes are needed to seal the deal....not 60.

Something tells me Dems won't be campaigning well this year if they support this issue.

“He took the biggest case to date in his tenure to tell the Congress to grow up and do their job.. “

Almost. He’s telling We the People to get up off our sofas, turn off American Idol...and exercise our responsibility to oversee our employees on Capitol Hill.

I don’t think you are being unreasonable. We conservative patriots have to take EVERY reality and use it to our advantage.

The advantage of this situation is as you lined out - the Courts refused to fix Congress’ mess, and it is true that ultimately it is the fault of the American people for electing these bozos.

I don’t support the decision, because the Constitution is supposed to protect us from legislative excess. Well, it does protect us, but the Court didn’t enforce it.

But we have to compete on the field we are on, not the field we SHOULD be on. Onward.

My goals: Republican governors, just don’t enforce it. Violated parties such as religious institutions, sue. Keep the house. Take the Senate. Vote Romney in. Yes, Romney, he’ll do as he promised and get rid of it. Whether his heart is in it or not, I don’t care, he is a political animal and he will do as he pledged.

I’ll be working on the above strategies until Jan. 13th or so, when I believe, God willing, the thing will either be overturned or gutted or executive ordered to death.

I want “THEM” to move on. But we can’t. Let them go right on propagandizing it’s over. People are now awake. Libs can’t hide the biggest tax in history and Roberts mistake sealed their fate.

The problem all along was a complacent public. Now their attention is on this AND their elected and to-be elected officials.

No hiding, no excuses.

“Maybe if elected Romney will strike it down”

O’Romney has already promised to repeal on day one.

HOW?

It’ll take super majorities in both houses months just to go Find all the buried Funding roots of this atrocity before they can write the Bill to send Romney.

Executive Order? Even IF Willard had the guts, And the Arrogance, he wouldn’t know Where all the little pieces of it Are.

Romney is yanking Everybody’s chain. He’s the same, Lying Blowhard that Jim and everyone else here have been Warning us about for ages.

One of the statements made by Chief Justice Roberts in the ruling: “It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.”

Well if it is constitutional as a tax then he is right

The question is does he have the right to declare a penalty a tax

Bear in mind that is what the GOP charged that it really was

I would like to see the dissenting opinion

And that clear opening of the worm can is why we know Roberts is not on that court to do anything but rubber stamp whatever the globalist collapsing this Republic tell him to do. The scum and villainy for whom Roberts the pirate works do not want We The People to be the sovereigns, so every crucial ruling where he can destroy US will be his agenda. He deserves no benefit of the doubt for stupidity. He deserves no second huessing as to whether he may have done the right thing. He is a lawless bastard working for the globalist agenda, Period. As you stated so succinctly, he could have thrown this back on Congress by just voting with Sclaia, Alito, Thomas, and Kennedy. Instead he passed this unconstitutional piece of democrat communism as he was instructed to do.

Well then, if Congress every bans the Bible, I hope SCOTUS doesn't take the matter up in an election year!
