The New York Organ Donor Network pressured hospital staffers to declare patients brain dead so their body parts could be harvested and even hired coaches to train staffers how to be more persuasive, a bombshell lawsuit charged yesterday.
The federally funded nonprofit used a quota system, and leaned heavily on the next of kin to sign consent forms when patients were not registered as organ donors, the suit charged.
Theyre playing God, said plaintiff Patrick McMahon, 50, an Air Force combat veteran and nurse practitioner who claims he was fired as a transplant coordinator after just four months for protesting the practice.
The suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, cited four examples of improper organ harvesting.
In September 2011, a 19-year-old man injured in a car wreck was admitted to Nassau University Medical Center. He was still trying to breathe and showed signs of brain activity, the suit charged.
But doctors declared him brain dead under pressure from donor-network officials, including Director Michael Goldstein, who allegedly said during a conference call: This kid is dead, you got that? the suit charged.
The patients family consented to have the organs harvested.
I have been in Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan in combat. I worked on massive brain injuries, trauma, gunshot wounds, IEDs. I have seen worse cases than this and the victims recover, McMahon told The Post.
That same month, a woman was admitted to St. Barnabas Hospital in The Bronx still showing signs of life, the suit said.
---snip---
In November 2011, a woman admitted to Staten Island University Hospital after a drug overdose was declared brain dead and her organs were about to be harvested when McMahon noticed that she was being given a paralyzing anesthetic because her body was still jerking.

I suggest reading the other examples in the article, it seems like a real life "coma" (for those in rio linda there is a book called "coma" about organ harvesting via murder)
This is a strong reason to have an advance directive that says "keep me alive" to discourage this "not alive enough organ harvesting". This is going to damage the donation programs. They will have another "reform" dog a pony show and it will be business as usual. Until Obamacare, then both patients will be required to die.
This is the exact kind of antics that motivated me to remove myself as a listed Organ Donor when I renewed my Driver’s License.
I don’t need some surgeon with a God Complex putting my life in his hands.
I wonder how much profit there is in rehab vs a transplant.
In rehab you have one patient and can only bill for the one.
In transplants you can parse out the liver, two kidnies, cornias, perhaps a heart, sometimes the lungs, bone marrow, ligaments etc. So you have multiple patients and multiple profit points.
PLUS you have mega donors giving to transplant centers (PLUS TAXPAYERS in some cases)
CHA ching$$$$$$$$
A “ keep me alive” advance directive is a good idea, but it’s not enough. They’ll just declare you dead, like the examples listed in this article.
This is what the “abortion choice” mentality get ya.
...plus, rehab from brain injury occurs at other locations, so once the patient is stable enough to transfer, the hospital gets nothing more.
The only case where I could even begin to think of consenting to allow use of my or loved ones’ organs is if the Hospital would affirm, in a binding legal document, that the organs would not go to a Democrat or non citizen.
you include I refuse to be an organ donor language.
Interestingly adult stem cells (not to be confused with fetal) are looking to be a reliable treatment AND cure for some of these transplant issues.
Dear God.
Patrick McMahon had better be telling the truth, because if true, those monster doctors and everyone else involved are practicing murder medicine.
Thank you very much for pinging me.
I have given my family and lawyer explicit orders, I go into the cold earth with everything I have intact. No ghoul is stripping me to the bones on a whim or orders from some blood thirsty bean counter.
You want what I’ve got, then change the rules and let me sell them at a fair market price while I’m still around to enjoy the proceeds.
Organ recipients are paupers for the rest of their lives. The immune-suppressant drugs alone cost a fortune every month.
I have never signed and never will sign the organ donation box on my drivers license. Ubama has made us all slaves to the health care system while we are alive. I will be damned if I will allow them to sell my parts for profit after I'm dead.
I just removed 'organ donor' consent from my driver's license and from my living will.
organ redistribution, since there will be a central database. Your personal information will be mined for compatability for those more favored by the government. You vill be required to donate that extra kidney or part of your liver to a fellow komrade as a good collective citizen. Da?
It’s painful to recollect but upon the death of my father in 2008, my mother was set upon by high pressure ghouls via telephone, they would not stop. She consented just to get them to leave us alone. I do not like this, something is very wrong.
But nobody has to be killed to gather adult stem cells, so that’s not really a popular option now is it?
No, I’m afraid it’s not a good idea to agree to be an organ donor. You don’t always know what hospital you’ll end up in, or who your doctor will be.
My mother was in a Catholic nursing home for many years, with senile dementia. The nursing home took good care of her, and the nurses were great. But every once in a while she’d have to go to a nearby hospital, with a touch of pneumonia or the like. And every time that happened, I’d have to argue with the doctors there not to just kill her to save on expenses. I refused consent, and some of them spent a lot of time trying to persuade me to sign the consent forms.
Which raises another point. If you ever go into a hospital, you need a trusted family member to guard your back.
If you think this is going on in only a few hospitals you are wrong.
Ping....
I am 100% certain this is the norm.
