Despite disapproval of Romney's faith, many evangelicals say that won't affect their vote

Chattanooga-area evangelical church pastors may believe the Mormon faith is a cult and may not consider Gov. Mitt Romney a Christian, but they said that won't stop them from considering a vote for him in next month's presidential election.

More than eight in 10 voters in a Pew Forum poll this summer said they were comfortable with the Republican nominee's faith or it didn't matter to them. Nineteen percent said they were uncomfortable with his faith.

"We are electing a president, not a pastor," said Tim Shoap, co-pastor of Signal Mountain Bible Church. "I want the best and most effective leader we can get, [one] who will represent the interests of the people and the country in keeping with the original intent of the Constitution. For me, that makes the Mormon issue largely irrelevant."

While members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints consider themselves Christians, several local evangelical pastors do not.

"Mormonism is a cult," said Jeremy Roberts, pastor of Highland Park Baptist Church. "Mormons are polytheistic universalists who deny that Jesus is the eternal son of God."

However, he said he would base his vote on "policy, leadership skills and who I perceive will most likely lead the country in the direction I believe is best."

You do care, as I explained before, you care about what other people believe, so the questions still remains, “why don’t you care what Romney believes?”

That was not the question at hand. The questioner asked to be provided with proof Romney supported abortion, I did.
The question was not about obama and his position.

There is no one my ballot in California running for president whom I would vote for.

I’m just happy that he *has* faith.

I can't resist. Would you be happy if he were a Satanist?

Romney's faith doesn't matter to me. His history of liberalism, though, shows he's far from the ideal candidate. I get that he's not Baraq.

So does obama, would you clarify what you mean by ‘faith’?

Because he hasn’t flown planes into buildings.

All you have to do is read my posts.

No Mormon has ever done enything to me aside from be nice to me.

His belief system may bother you, but it doesn’t bother me.

You will just have to find a way to deal with that.

That is not the question at hand.
You stated you did not care what people believe, I said that was untrue based on your posts and explained why I thought that based on your posts.
So the question remains: why don’t you care what Romney believes but do care based on your posts what other people beleive?
I am not bothered by Romney’s belief in the temporal but I am grieved by his beliefs in the spiritual.
Sorry, I will never get over that.

I feel sorry for you in your blind hatred of Romney. I don’t know what else to call it. You hate him more than you love your country, regardless of what you tell yourself.

I just love your ability to mind read and your interpretation of the truth of a persons political record as hate.
How do you do that? A peep stone, a crystal ball, a divining rod.....how?

“The Muslims I have spoken with, at least over the internet, have threatened to behead me during the End Times. I don’t know about you, but I can respect that honesty.”

You respect these filthy bastards that have killed our military men and women, killed thousands of our fellow Americans at the WTC, bombed the USS Cole, killed our Navy Seals and our Ambassador because they were honest about it? We should respect them? I bet you thought Hitler and deserved our respect as well.

You made your intentions clear when you signed up here that it would be better to have Obama as President.

You bastard trolls will stop at nothing to promote your commie agenda. I guess that’s why you’re liberals. Your desperation is very telling.

I hope your next zot is permanent, OBot.

You are so right. I remember Christians having stars in their eyes about Jimmy Carter and how he was a Sunday School teacher and a born-again Christian. He was a crappy President and a full-on enemy of Israel. It’s a HUGE, HUGE mistake to think that the religious affiliation of someone determines how they will govern, both morally and secularly. I mean, have you (or anybody) never been cheated or maligned or betrayed by someone claiming to be a Christian? Why is it that Christians are so easily fooled when it comes to politicians claiming to be Christian?

You really do not care what Mittens believes, since Mitt does not believe in much of anything, though he does habitually lean left.

Not only is Mittens better than Obama, he’s going to be the better Obama, except now he has you guys covering for him. Down goes our credibility for 2016 and the long term future of this country. Well, assuming we even make it that far.

You are obsolete. The efforts to get rid of Obama continue without you. While you sit on your thumb and rotate. When Romney disposes of Obama even you will smile, even you will benefit, not that you will ever admit it. Crazy people never do

That’s too bad, and there is no question at hand.

As I stated, you will have to find a way to deal with the fact that I am over it. Whether or not you are satisfied with the reasons I have given or not is not particularly relevent to me.

Mr. Romney seems just fine with his spiritual beliefs, and I am quite certain that he does not need your approval.
