Joe Cocker - Unchain My Heart
Oh, Songwriters: OTIS/SANFORD Unchain my heart baby let me be Cause you don't care please set me free Unchain my heart Baby let me go Unchain my heart Cause you don't love me no more Every time I call you on the phone Some fella tells me your not at home Unchain my heart set me free Unchain my heart Baby let me be Unchain my heart Cause you don't care about me You got me sewed up like a pillow case But you let my love go to waist Unchain my heart set me free I'm under your spell Like a man in a trance You know darn well that I don't stand a chance Unchain my heart let me go my way Unchain my heart you worry me night and day I live a life of misery And you don't care a bag of beans for me Unchain my heart set me free Solo I'm under your spell Like a man in a trance You know darn well that I don't stand a chance Unchain my heart let me go my way Unchain my heart you worry me night and day I live a life of misery And you don't care a bag of beans for me Unchain my heart set me free

Blondie - Heart of Glass
Once I had a love and it was a gas Soon turned out had a heart of glass Seemed like the real thing, only to find Much of mistrust, love's gone behind Once I had a love and it was divine Soon found out I was losing my mind It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind Much of mistrust, love's gone behind In between What I find is pleasing and I'm feeling fine Love is so confusing there's no peace of mind If I fear I'm losing you it's just no good You teasing like you do Once I had a love and it was a gas Soon turned out had a heart of glass Seemed like the real thing, only to find Much of mistrust, love's gone behind Once I had a love and it was divine Soon found out I was losing my mind It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind Much of mistrust, love's gone behind Lost inside Adorable illusion and I cannot hide I'm the one you're using, please don't push me aside We could've made it cruising, yeah Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light Once I had a love and it was a gas Soon turned out I had a heart of glass [radio version] Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass [album version] Seemed like the real thing only to find Much of mistrust, love's gone behind

I used to live in Hereford.
I think the population was 860 then. In My Fair Lady is the following quote: "In Hartford, Hereford and Hampshire, hurricanes hardly happen."
A couple of weeks ago, a hurricane happened in both Hartford, Conn. and Hampshire, Ill., but it missed Hereford, Texas.

I hope you are well Kathy. I am glad the lot of you are still doing good things.... Been a while, and here I am on Long Island after being hit with Sandy, then a freak early winter snow storm, well, you appreciate good things and this canteen is one of them.... I fared well, nut so many neighbors and friends hurt bad. The reports on TV just do not do it justice...never, ever seen a wall of water come a-shore like that in my life around here. Canteen folks, please pray for my friends and neighbors on Long Island, NYC, NJ, CT...It hurts to see this here. We LIers, NYers, etc. keep a strong upper lip with a strange accent...but we cry inside.

"Deep in the Heart of Texas" was an international hit in 1942 that appealed to folks far beyond the borders of Texas. In post #70 on this thread, I linked to a recording by
The Four Cacadoes, a group from Switzerland. Records by English artists also sold well.
Interestingly, most of the song's imagery is of West Texas. The lyrics contain no references to pine forests, bayous, or other features of East Texas.

I sent prayers for all I knew in NY and the few I knew on Long Island, as well as everyone else. So glad you made it ok...sorry for the others. Another LIer’s parents had water all around the house, but no flooding. Their neighbors were not as lucky.
Prayers for all of you continue. ((HUGS))
