No, Sidwell Friends School has no armed guards [We Obama critics were wrong on this one]
Washington Post ^ | January 18, 2013 | Valerie Strauss

Posted on 01/20/2013 6:49:30 PM PST by grundle

The National Rifle Association is airing a television ad (and has on its website this four-minute video) that says the private school that President Obama’s daughters attend, Sidwell Friends School, has 11 armed guards. It doesn’t.

In fact, it has no armed guards. My Post colleague Glenn Kessler, who writes The Fact Checker column, wrote about the issue here and quoted Ellis Turner, associate head of Sidwell Friends, as saying: “Sidwell Friends security officers do not carry guns.”

Parents and students say they have never seen one either.

The president’s children are protected by Secret Service agents, which is required by federal law, but that is not the same thing as armed school resource officers.

The Fact Checker, who hands out “Pinocchios” depending on how accurate — or inaccurate — a particular story is, gave the NRA and its ad the worst possible rating, four Pinocchios. Whereas three Pinocchios are given for “significant factual error and/or obvious contradictions,” four Pinocchios are given for “whoppers.”

And what took this new info so long to get out?

They wanted to get maximum value out of the "have you no shame" card first?

“We don’t leave our own hanging out to dry. “

A plethora of those who you deem to be deserving of tax payers funding their security have left plenty of active duty and civilians high and dry. The Secret Service should just have stuck with going after counterfeiters. Know they become vultures who have the freedom to strip 1st Amendment rights. Let the Pres be protected by Active Duty and then if the Pres wants security for their family, fund the armed guards out of their own wages.

Wilson was a punk who thought of himself as a Philosopher King and an idiotic “progressive” Congress went along with this “Kingship”. Our government is made up of disposable representatives with a very detailed line of succession. If one needs protecting, it should be the tax payer, not a perceived nobility of ostentatious knaves. Btw, how many murdered at Ft. Hood were armed? Was at a Annex a week ago. Seems it was illegal for AD members to be packing. The Annex did not have a guard gate btw.

I take everything from the WP with a super huge grain of salt. I wouldn’t even trust the day and date printed on their front page.

And that is why he would drive past Sidwell to the nearest “gun free zone” at the public school / shopping mall / movie theater / park. Unless he is after a specific person or organization, by increasing the odds just slightly he will die before he gets the chance to take someone with him, he would find another target. What is so hard for liberals to understand about that?

BUMP what you said.
That’s a great post right there.

It has been said that, “A lie goes around the world before the truth gets its boots on”, and the scumbag Democrats have taken advantage of that truism for decades. It’s about time the Republicans were willing to engage in the kind of creative lying the rats mastered long ago. We are engaged in a freaking war to try to save America from the African communist Ubama and his fascist hordes. Screw any “rules”.

Apologize to the scumbag rats? Admit it if we are wrong?
Anyone who believes we should ever operate that way should drop dead and just get out of the way.

OMG...we are our own worst enemy. We find ourselves in a bar fight and we’re shouting “fight fair” as we get beat to death with bar stools and beer bottles. Read “Rules for Radicals” and realize that WE are the radicals now.

So I take it that's a vote that we should say any and all kinds of BS, just as long as it makes us look good and those we oppose look bad. We can tell any lie we want, right?

I think we have a job for you in the Propaganda Department.

May I suggest the possibility that, when the daughters of the President are attending a school, the security is actually managed and dictated by the Secret Service and all armed personnel are ONLY Secret Service. IMHO - When the Secret Service is guarding a principal and the only other person in the room or area is a local cop or security guard, that cop or guard is then considered, by default, the greatest threat.

All of that is probably true.

Obama’s kids should go to public school like every other parent is forced to do if they don’t have the money to pay for private school. Oh wait, that doesn’t apply to celebrities and leftists hypocrites who oppose vouchers...but I digress.

You better believe that Sidwell Friends is one of the most protected schools in the country. I think the Washington Post is playing semantics here.

Sorry... I don’t believe this swill. No way in the world would the elites of DC send their kids to a school that has no armed security, especially in the cesspool of DC.

Here is the current list of security personnel at Sidwell. There are 11 security positions, 7 of which are “special police officers”.

Actually I kind of doubt the Secret Service would allow that.

I recall the photo a month or so ago here on FR of an agent with his hand covering a New York cop’s holstered sidearm.

Obama, Biden, Wasserman-Schultz, and the whole damned government and Democrat Party openly and constantly repeat proven lies. But they just get even angrier and repeat the same lies when confronted with the truth. Over and over, practice makes perfect, repetition until it becomes the defacto truth.

We are not in a ‘debate’ here. We are in a conflict that represents our very freedom, and I don’t care one whit about this particular fact being true or not. It’s what the Democrats would do.

The reason that school’s guards are apparently not continually armed is that it is highly likely the Secret Service has removed the greatest nearby possible threat to their charges. If the SS were not there, they would be armed, you betcha.

I also look at guys like Edward Bernays and George Creel for further study on propaganda and public manipulation. They were pioneers in the field.

If we understand the mechanism and motives of the group mind, is it not possible to control and regiment the masses according to our will without their knowing about it? The recent practice of propaganda has proved that it is possible, at least up to a certain point and within certain limits.

-Bernays

In his 1965 autobiography, Bernays recalls a dinner at his home in 1933 where

Karl von Wiegand, foreign correspondent of the Hearst newspapers, an old hand at interpreting Europe and just returned from Germany, was telling us about Goebbels and his propaganda plans to consolidate Nazi power. Goebbels had shown Wiegand his propaganda library, the best Wiegand had ever seen. Goebbels, said Wiegand, was using my book Crystallizing Public Opinion as a basis for his destructive campaign against the Jews of Germany. This shocked me. ... Obviously the attack on the Jews of Germany was no emotional outburst of the Nazis, but a deliberate, planned campaign.

>>So I take it that’s a vote that we should say any and all kinds of BS, just as long as it makes us look good and those we oppose look bad. We can tell any lie we want, right?

>>I think we have a job for you in the Propaganda Department.

First of all, this was a Washington Post “fact check” story. The WaPo Fact Check is leftist propaganda. There is more to the story. Perhaps the Sidwell guards do not carry guns now that the Secret Service is on the premises. Did they carry before the Obama girls arrived? Who knows.

Second, we don’t just “tell any lies we want”. But, if we get busted on some detail or technicality, as this was, we don’t start apologizing and promising to do better in the future, as the poster that I commented on did. But, you know what? The Left DOES tell any lies it wants. It shovels BS on our heads constantly and we smile and take it because some of us, like you, think that the moral victory gained by being passively lied to is better than beating these people. Your grandchildren will curse you for being weak and letting these Marxists roll over you so you could “be the better person”.

Third, I’d rather have a job in the Propaganda Dept of a right-wing regime that WON a freakin’ election than a bed in a re-education camp because the Left knows how to manage the flow of information and propaganda. The “high road” is the road to defeat in today’s America. At this point in time, we need to fight these rats in the trenches. In a media-driven society such as ours, controlling the information is more important than guns. If we man-up and learn to fight them on their turf in the media, we might not need those guns!

Look at all the people who are going on and on about the “coming CW2” and how they’re buying guns to “resist tyranny”. If we can’t even grow a pair big enough to tell the WaPo Fact Check that we don’t accept their version of the truth and then we fall to the ground wailing and begging for forgiveness from our enemies, then how in the hell are we going to actually FIGHT them if the time comes?
