Amazing New Details from the Chase for the Boston Bombers Daniel Halper April 20, 2013 11:56 AM
The police chief of the Watertown police department shares amazing new details of the chase for the Boston bombings suspects from Thursday night into Friday evening:
The police chief, Edward Deveau, describes how cops nearly apprehended the older suspect, and were placing handcuffs on him in the middle of the street Thursday night, when the younger suspect came at officers in a carjacked SUV. The cops were able "to dive out of the way," and the younger suspect then continued to drive directly over his brother and dragging him through the street. That's how the older suspect died, according to the police chief.
The younger suspect eventually dumped the SUV and ran into the darkness of the night, according to the police chief. It took nearly 18 hours and massive manhunt to find the younger suspect. He gave himself up after a 20-minute negotiation with the FBI, he said, but not before the suspect fired more rounds at the authorities.
The bombers were armed with "pipe bombs and explosives," some of which appear to have been homemade hand-grenades. They had "at least 6 bombs, if you will," says the chief. They also had a some guns.
The chief also says that "there was a major explosion in the middle of the gun fight" between officers and the suspects, Thursday night, when a pressure cooker bomb, like the ones used in the Boston Marathon bombings, went off in the residential area.
The interview with the police chief took place today on CNN.
I heard that as well. I noticed CNN replayed it and no mention of the shoes. Didn’t the auto repair guy say that was unusual for him to have high priced shoes?
That's been my question. I can understand they didn't want to use their own cars so maybe they were out scouting for a vehicle. Maybe that was the reason for killing the MIT cop to take his car but then realized neighbors might ID them so got out of there. Still, it'd be cumbersome lugging around a pressure cooker, bombs and guns. You'd think they'd have had an exit plan but then most criminals aren't smart. They just thought they'd just blend back into their everyday lives la te da and no one would be the wiser. The younger one was even smiling in the marathon pics.
What is missing for me - did I miss part of the story - is why the hold-up of the 7-11 ....how does that fit into the bombing?
I’d like to see a map of the houses of the Saudi and the brothers. Lemme guess, the Saudi was just some guy in the neighborhood.
So Suspect 2 stands trial for murdering his brother along with everyone who died at Boston Marathon?
I thought for get away money. It seems someone was financing them- but that money dried up right when they needed it. Maybe the Saudi was the money man?
There was a picture of at least one of the brothers in a 7/11; initial reports got things crossed and attributed the robbery to them. The whole better first than accurate style of media reporting.
I don't think so. I think the cop was killed as a diversion, to draw attention away from their movements.
He helped his brother reach the 72 virgins. What a gift.
“to manipulate a traumatized city into submitting to martial law.”
I agree with all that you have said.
On the other hand, would you want to be wandering the streets at night knowing that LEOs are looking for people and are pumped with adrenalin?
I would not. I would be very vigilant but not wander the streets. I would venture only out of the house but on my property.
Ultimately *everyone* dies of cardiac arrest in some sense. Older brother did not die of cardiac arrest in the conventional sense however. We define death as absence of vital signs and that occurs when the heart stops beating. So it’s a bit of a tautology to say that someone like this “died” of “cardiac arrest”.
“Where do these people get their money no one seems to be employed. Yet we have expensive cars all around nice dressing by the older boy. Follow the money or lack of it.”
Shortly after 9/11/2001 one of the terrorists was being interviewed. They looked at his cell phone. There were the phone numbers of three Saudi princes. Shortly after that discovery the three princes all died under mysterious circumstances. I think that is the answer. The Saudi government, again.
"Halloo! I keelt my brother. Prepare to die!"
Clarify please. After 9/11/2001 which terrorists were being interviewed — thought they all died. Friends of terrorists?

I do not remember every detail. He was interviewed in Afghanistan, first by an American CIA type. He was near the top of the food-chain in bin Laden’s crew. He wouldn’t talk. They sent an Arabic-speaking American CIA type to talk to him. The terrorist relaxed and began to talk because he thought that he was talking to a ‘friend’. He told the CIA type that he should look into his cell phone to see that he was ‘connected’ to the Saudi ‘royalty’. This had been covered on “The Military Channel’ several years ago. You could probably find the story on the military channel pages.
Thanks. Most interesting.
So he fled “on foot” after he ran over his brother
his school chums did say he was a bad driver ... lol
I watched the live reporting on Fox News thru out that night. Griff Jenkins gave a report that included video. Jenkins said he ran with the cops during the chase that led to Watertown. Jenkins recorded the older brother laying in the street. The video shows the cops still at a distance from the terrorist. Jenkins reports the terrorist walked out and surrendered, was still alive and lying on the street. Jenkins said he was ordered further away immediately after recording the video.
The next day I awoke to the news this terrorist was dead. I wondered what had happened since he had been captured alive according to Jenkins report. Now it makes sense. Jenkins video must have been taken just before terrorist #2 ran a car over terrorist #1.
He is not the older brother.
Also at 1:13 into 1:23 of this video, too.
