"Duck Dynasty" isn't just a smash-hit TV show, it's a merchandising powerhouse.
It's too soon to tell if retailers will pull the clan's products from their shelves after Phil Robertson made homophobic comments in an interview with GQ magazine. However the A&E network did suspend the reality show star.

I don’t watch tv period, but even my cloistered self can’t help being aware of some cultural phenomenons.

It’ll be interesting how this plays out. I assess with high confidence that the rest of the Duck crew back Phil 100%. Conversely, the homo lovers at A&E will not see the light...so to me the big question is whether or not A&E lets Phil out of his contract or if there is a provision that Phil can nix it! BTW, with the mechandizing I think they are worth a lot more than $15 Mil!

All the “contracted” actors can show up without Phil, and just stand around silent....that would be the Reality of the way the family would feel, and its a reality show.
And if the Reality of NO Phil on the set, doesn’t sell......well, then whose fault is that ?
This “suspenstion” will not last, just as it took a few days for the Bashir cycle to play out, but this one is a reverse Monty.
The people who purchase Duck Dynasty-labeled products will consider this to be a badge of honor, and will buy even more of their stuff.
I’ve seen a lot of the Duck Commander stuff in Walmart too. I didn’t know the difference.
A&E gets most. They own the trademark of Duck Dynasty.
It will be A & E’s loss, NOT Duck Commander’s.
As mrsmel said they can deal with their contracts very easily. Willie, Jase and Si can make public statements of support for Phil’s remarks and state that they believe the same thing. Then the ball is in A&Es court again. Either reinstate Phil, suspend them all or look like hypocritical fools.
Actually the smart thing for them to do is tell A&E to go pound sand.
That’s what contracts are for. You promise to work on that show for x amount of time.

The Duck Dynasty stuff you see in the stores is an A&E merchandising entitey.
If you want to get Duck Commander or Buck Commander items direct from the Robertson’s
you’ll have to go to their website. I’m not sure if any of their stuff is sold in stores
outside of West Monroe La. The Robinson’s may get a cut of the sales but I don’t know
their arrangement.

Phil Robertson is not “homophobic”. Geez! Maybe the queers at A&E are “heterophobic extremists” and that’s why they freaked out at Robertson.
