NBC Blames Bush for Al Qaeda Takeover of Fallujah in 2014
FrontPage Mag ^ | 01/08/2014 | Daniel Greenfield

Apparently we’re on George W. Bush’s fourth term. And here I’ve been making a fool of myself criticizing some Illinois senator for messing up the country. If only NBC News had told me this piece of breaking news sooner.

Introducing a report on Monday’s NBC Nightly News about Al-Qaeda forces seizing control of the Iraqi city of Fallujah, anchor Brian Williams went out of his way to blame the President George W. Bush for the deteriorating security situation: “U.S. fighting forces are gone from Iraq. But as so many predicted when President Bush chose to go to war there after 9/11, the fighting has started up again.”

Wait.

They predicted in 2002 that the United States would withdraw and that over a decade later, Al Qaeda in Iraq would take over Fallujah? That is some impressive crystal ball work.

But let’s be fair here, Brian Williams is a worse anchorman than most of the cast of Anchorman. He’s a walking cartoon who probably couldn’t find the entire continent on a map without a teleprompter.

The odds are good that Brian Williams had just snorted so much cocaine before the show that he was under the impression that it was still 2006. For all we know he thinks it’s been 2006 for the last 8 years.

But it’s also a firm tenet of the left that George W. Bush is to blame for everything. Especially if it involves Iraq or racism or NBC’s falling ratings.

Wow!!! This is absolutely breathtaking! Does anyone even think NBC has one shred of credibility left?

I remember we gave the women and children (and probably some men) the option to get out.

We should have flattened the place.

Amazing that five years in, we still are supposed to blame Bush for things.

Remember when Obama said he would clean up all these messes left over from Bush? How Republicans had to ride in the back of the bus? How they drove the bus into a ditch and he and good Democrats would get the bus out of the ditch??? Etc.

If, only, Thomas Jefferson hadn’t penned “When in the course of human events...”, George W. Bush could not have invaded Iraq.

I’m surprised the Left hasn’t blamed him for the recent polar vortex, yet.

Like someone on FR said before . . .
‘These liberals spent 8 years hating Bush and the last 5 years blaming him for everything...’
Pathetic !

They know Bush won’t defend himself or his administration. It’s a win win for the Obama’s and their acolytes like George and Laura

The radical left continues to never take any responsibility for any of their lies and crimes against America...and the list is gigantic. Rather than being able to stand up and take credit for positive things they have done FOR America (NONE) they must blame a Republican for the things they have done TO America.

Right out of the DemocRat Marxist playbook.

Bush blundered when he destabilized that area by removing Saddam Hussein. So ultimately Fallujah is Bush's fault.

The conservative cause cannot prosper if we continue to try to defend Bush's big mistake.

I don't recall that.

Should have said ‘.. after President Bush chose to go to war Iraq broke out into civil war and many predicted that the fighting would start up again if we ever try to bring our troops home’

Millions still need to read Andrew C. McCarthy's book, SPRING FEVER, THE ILLUSION OF ISLAMIC DEMOCRACY.

McCarthy documents how that our military, used as a puppet of our State Department, held Iraq over for the Sharia misfits. And the same is happening in Afghanistan.

The current constitutions of iraq and Afghanistan were crafted by our own State Department, and carefully, dutifully, enshrine Islam as the state religion and SHARIA as the foundation of all law-making.

Our own military, therefore, though our soldiers believe they are protecting our freedoms, and God bless them for it, are, in reality, being used as instruments to more deeply entrench extreme Islam and SHARIA, and thus re-build a haven from which our enemies can attack us in perpetuity.

Agreed...to a point. The invasion wasn’t worng but it was done wrong.

It was a six month job tops. Kill Hussein and all his fmaily memebers/henchmen. Install your own strong man, tell him he’s next if he doesn’t run the country right, leave a small, but potent “emergency use only security force” to help him and leave.

And the Democrats in Congress who approved that mistake also need to be held responsible.

True that. But there's even more. Paraphrasing Santayana: Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Iraq was Vietnam 2. Bush owns Iraq just as LBJ owned Vietnam. If we cannot be honest about that, I suppose there will be a Vietnam 3 in our future.
