Texas father shoots boy, 17, to death in teenage daughter's bedroom

Harris County sheriff's deputies in Texas are investigating after a father shot a 17-year-old boy whom he found in his teenage daughter's bedroom.

Officials said Friday the 55-year-old father has not been arrested and investigators will ultimately hand over their report to the grand jury to consider possible charges.

According to KHOU-TV in Houston, the incident began when the girl's brother went to say good night to his 16-year-old sister and saw a pair of feet sticking out from under the bed. The brother alerted their father, who went into the bedroom to investigate.

When the father confronted the boy -- identified as Johran McCormick -- his daughter denied knowing who McCormick was or why he was there. The father called 911 about 2:30 a.m., police said, and a confrontation with McCormick ensued.

According to KHOU, the father told sheriff’s deputies that he saw McCormick drop his hands and he interpreted that as an attempt to grab something to attack him, so he shot the boy once.

Guess what? He was not an intruder. The daughter snuck him in. Second, there is no law against having sex. He was 17. Tbey were both minors. Again, no law against that. It happens millions of times a day in this country and the boys don't get shot.

Hey Dave

You or your kid sneak around my daughter and end up in her bedroom you are going to get your ass blown away.

No relativist argument on my part. That’s absolutely what is going to happen..

Depends on the truth if I am on the jury. It’s 2:30 in the morning, the girl lied and said she didn’t know the boy. At that point, if the boy threatened the man and the testimony reveals beyond a reasonable doubt that the man felt his life was in danger then it’s justified.

There are consequences to our decisions, and sometimes the consequences are tragic.

Terrible tragedy all the way around.

a 17 year old is not a 12 year old. physically probably stronger than the dad. lot faster and more endurance.

Leotards want to keep dropping that age too

When they turn 18 and move out they can do what they like

Actually, there IS a law against having sex with a minor. While being close in age is a defense against prosecution, that doesn’t make it legal.

Bottom line, the situation sucks all around but I’d give the father benefit of doubt under castle doctrine. It IS the father’s castle and he did disrupt illegal activity in his home involving his minor daughter.

Not guilty.

And they should pay for the ammunition, too.

The daughter denied knowing him or why he was there. Not sure love was involved.

Time was when that behavior was commendable.

But that was back when the world made sense.

The dad did call 911. He responded when the boy appeared to be reaching for something in a confrontation.

When a dad has a gun on you and has called the cops, you should freeze and wait for them to show.

How do you know? The daughter denied knowing him.

Good enough reason for the father to defend himself and his family when the intruder made a threatening move.

I don’t disagree with you at all re: the kid’s actions. Or perceived actions. I wonder if the dad could have intimidated the boy with words along with using his gun and dialing the police. No doubt in my mind that my dad could have. There maybe more history here than we know.

I can well see how everyone in the situation was jumpy.

But...boys’ have been sneaking into girl’s room since the beginning of time. It’s not a new thing.

“But...boys’ have been sneaking into girl’s room since the beginning of time. It’s not a new thing.”

Actually I used to sneak them into my room. Because I knew their dad would not do anything if we got caught.

My perspective on the issue would have been far different (never would have tried) if I knew her Dad was going to blow me away if caught..

imho, you are above average intelligence.

One of the stories my husband told me was about going to pick up the girl he was dating before me. The girl’s dad invited him to his study...that was filled with guns. The story made me lol. He never tried anything with her. (Or so he said, lol)

He shot someone in cold blood. He was not a stranger in the house.

I guarantee you the father did not shoot this kid in cold blood.

What you really mean is that you do not believe that he believed his daughter.

The real question is did he really believe the kid was going for a weapon. On that I have no opinion. If it was an inner city neighborhood I would probably come down on believing he did.
