U.S. sanctions target pro-life woman with no Crimea links
World Net Daily ^ | 4-6-14 | GREG COROMBOS

A Russian lawmaker known for her outspoken support for traditional marriage and the unborn is among the officials listed in new U.S. sanctions against individuals for their alleged contribution to Russia’s unlawful grab of Ukrainian territory.

Weeks ago, President Obama announced sanctions aimed at several individuals for their alleged roles in facilitating Russia’s actions. But Yelena Mizulina’s seems out of place on the list. Mizulina is chairwoman of the Russian Duma’s Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Affairs.

She was also the lead sponsor of legislation banning Americans from adopting Russian orphans, fearing the children could suffer harm if adopted by homosexual partners.

In the documents outlining the sanctions, the allegations against Mizulina simply cite “her status as a state duma deputy.”

“Yelena Mizulina, as far as I know, has nothing to do with the controversy over the Crimea. She did sponsor a bill to make it easier for residents of the Crimea to have Russian citizenship. That was before the Crimea was incorporated into Russia. Other than that, (she had) absolutely nothing to do with the Crimea,” said Don Feder, communications director for the World Congress of Families, which promotes traditional values around the globe.

“This is payback. This is payback for Russian restrictions on abortion. It’s payback for the child protection law. It’s payback for all the pro-family initiatives that the Russian people have undertaken in the last few years,” he said.

Feder said this story is another alarming example of who is calling the shots for the Obama administration.

This administration has seriously tested my “buy American” beliefs. Buying American is becoming akin to supporting evil.

I think this is getting closer to the real reason Obama is upset.

Yep, I was surprised to find her on list. She is absolutely unrelated to Ukrainian situation. On the other hand I think Mizulina was the one who brought St.Pete counsilman and priest Milonov’s draft homo propaganda bill to federal assembly and backed adopting it as a federal bill. She is also a very loud opponent of abortion.
I guess all of the above are reasons why Obama dislike her.

America used to promote freedom and democracy throughout the globe. Now, America promotes deviancy and homosex. Both via the government and the culture.

I can fully see why some nations can now look at our country and truly see it as an evil and poisonous influence that needs to be combatted. I’m to the point that I can completely understand and appreciate that perspective.

And this makes her responsible for Crimea because?? I guess we are now in the business of punishing foreign lawmakers because we don’t like their domestic political positions. This is blackmail. And no Russian lawmaker will abandon Russian national interests to please America.

~She did sponsor a bill to make it easier for residents of the Crimea to have Russian citizenship.~

Well, this might be the legal ground but they make it look like it is a kind of Sudetenland or Osetian thing.

In reality Russia has a program aimed to bring back some Russophone population aimed mostly at Ukraine, Baltics, Israel and Kazakhstan. It involves tax preferences, financial incentives and also amnesty to said people who are currently residing in a contry.
Misulina was somehow critical to Russian migration policies which brought over 10 million muslims and Asians but few Christian ethnic Russians. A proposal was to ease obtaining a Russian citizenship to Ukrainian nationals, I don’t remember if Crimea was specifically mentioned. And it was long before it has all started in Kiev.

As Don Feder wrote - should conservatives care about Crimea and Eastern Ukraine - especially when that is historically Russian to begin with?

We’re not picking a fight with Russia over Russian expansionism. We’re picking a fight with Russia because of its embrace of the traditional values worldview.

Our globalist elite must crush Russian resistance to their anti-family, anti-sovereigntist new world order. The war on Russia is not really about Crimea.

Its bringing Russia into line on homosexuality, abortion and the rest of the leftist agenda. Its not enough to force Russia to capitulate; it must implement this agenda to be accepted into the West.

Vladimir Putin is not a threat to us; that would be Barack Obama.

Yes, well, like I have said, Team Obama hates the three “Cs”: Christianity, the Constitution, and capitalism. Any way it can diminish any of those three entities will be taken.
