I thought they did away with both official bike weeks a couple of years ago because of the problems and the potential lawsuit for having segregated biker weeks
I believe it is. As opposed to white bike week. I forget when his-panic bike week is. Need to mark my calender for pacific islander bike week too.
Went to Myrtle Beach for a few days in 2012 take advantage of a special offer from a timeshare I am part of. Not impressed with the clientele there.
Doing away with the “official” doesn’t necessarily stop anything....
I did some reading once on OMGs, Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs. These things seem to happen with them from time to time.
The old “who’s is bigger” mentality. Or lack of mentality.
Officially, I’d imagine so. “Unoffically”, though? I dunno - I’m not up on Black Bike Culture, beyond dodging the occasional dumba$$ doing 80+ mph wheelies on the interstate.
Otherwise? It's a tourist trap. I avoid it from May to September.
I went 3 years ago the day after “black biker week” and there was blood on the door. The Asian custodian told me they’d rip the picture frames and lights off the wall.
Myrtle is a dump full of rif raff. We drive the extra couple of hours and go to Hilton Head (just got back on Saturday). Much nicer, not a commercial circus and no rif raff.
Granted. Hard to put an end to something that was welcomed/sanctioned for so many years.
Went to MB bike week in 2005 and it was pretty cool seeing all of the bikes. I thought it was pretty tame. Was back there to see my daughter graduate from Marine Corp recruit training in Paris Island and rented a car to drive up there to check it out.
Is this an old post? I know someone who went to “Is it Harley? Bike Rally” two weeks ago in Myrtle Beach? I know they aren’t racist...unbelievable.
I never heard of a seperate Black Bike Week...Does that make Myrtle Beach racist for having separate rally’s, or the bike groups for segregating themselves? Who knew.
However, the prison system has issues with conflict between certain gangs of Hispanics vs Black vs White, etc. There are racist groups who are in constant conflict over the drug territories...so I guess racist motorcycle gangs should be an obvious result. That does not explain the Christian Motorcycle groups who to my knowledge have never been racist.
I believe the left has pushed the racist button so much for political gain that America has regressed on racial issues. Ou Country loses due to their stirring up hatred and division in places where none had existed for years, except in the minds of those always looking for a fight like Jackson, Sharpton, and others with an agenda to promote themselves and to get grant money from taxpayers.
The Black Republicans Association online website even alluded to that divisive issue this past year. In fact that website has been clear that democrats are the racist users of black issues.
Hilton ahead was awesome! Stayed there in 2005 and when we asked about going up to MB everyone would tells us those folks were weird and why would we want to go up there! Found out when we got there it was the carny capital of the Carolina’s!

In S.C. we don’t call MB the “redneck Riviera” for nothing.
In N.C. that might refer to the mountain resort of Lake Lure.
