“This is straight out of the DNC’s playbook. Fund a libertarian spoiler. See Robert Sarvis in 2013 VA governor race. “

There has to be some way to stop this as these third party candidates always aid the Democratic candidate. The bottom line is that is is simply not fair and dustruputs our system of electing the candidates most people want.

Conservatives compromised ourselves with RINO's like McCain and Romney. We damn sure ain't gonna go lower than that and settle for sell out libertarians.

Better to lose with pride than do that.

You really think it's better to lose against these farking Reds that are running things now?

Pride? The left are laughing at your pride.

you know, this might strike you as shocking, but not everybody, even in the Republican base or the Tea Party or what, thinks just like you do. Maybe you think FR is the entire world. Maybe it should be. But it’s not.

Grow up. Learn reality. And understand that your simple blanket statements like that are just absurd.

Let them laugh. I will vote for a conservative and if none are running, I’ll stay home.

Yes, Obama is driving us off the cliff at 90 miles an hour. Had McCain or Romney won, we’d only be driving toward that cliff at maybe 30 or 40 MPH.

Either way - we are done with that.

Never again will I settle for less liberal.

It’s not about what I think. It’s a simple fact. When the best the GOP can muster lately are liberals with Rs after their names like Romney and McCain blaming libertarians for saying “I’m not voting for liberals I don’t care what the letter at the end is” is silly. It’s the candidates’ job to not suck, it’s the voters’ job to decide who doesn’t suck. Nothing absurd about it, and your need to go to insults shows you know the facts don’t back you.

But your ideal candidate may not be mine….or some others….and even if we can agree on a good candidate, how pollyannish are you to think that all the voters will realize it.?

I’d say VERY.

Yeah, and then we find out if there’s more people like me or like you and one of our ideal candidates win. Unless all that’s running is pathetic candidates who don’t deserve a win. I’m not saying anything about the voter “realizing” anything, other than which guy they like best. There’s nothing pollyannish about that. The job of the candidate is to make his case, earn votes. If my favorite candidate doesn’t earn enough votes he doesn’t deserve to win. Same with yours.

Remember how much we made fun of the dems when they blamed the voters in 2000 and 04? Well everything mean we said about them then is true now of ANYBODY that blames the voters. The fault ALWAYS lies with the candidate. Run good candidates with good value that can get their good message across and they’ll win. If the voters don’t think your guy is their guy that’s on him, he failed to get his message across.

There are Dems who run for office unchallenged, Libertarians should target them and maybe big govt Republicans who win in the Primaries.

Libertarians can help democrats lose, too. As a recovering Libertarian Party member, Libertarians are left on social issues.

you’re appeal to the voters isn’t very strong if they can be siphoned off by a pizza delivery guy

instead of attempting to limit competition, how. about doing things the base wants? like fighting 0bamacare tooth and nail and/or stop the amnesty bs from happening

why should they get reelected of they’re just giving us the dems ‘solutions’, but with a little whining?

Because the democrats don’t set up the libertarians, the libertarians do it themselves.

“If liberals can set up a Libertarian to siphon votes from Republicans, then why can’t the GOP set up a radical liberal socialst type, to siphon votes from a Democrat?”

Because most of the Democrats would make Lenin proud as it is, how much further left can they go?

In any race involving a libertarian the concern is always with the libertarian siphoning off votes from the Republicans. That should tell you something about what side they're on.

Because most libertarians are torn between their left wing social issues and their desire for conservative economics, for most libertarians, money wins over their liberal parts, so a lib candidate hurts the republican.

Libertarians are at war to defeat conservatives.

Because James Carville won’t speak to them if that ran a second leftist in the general election. Carville reportedly won’t allow the name “Ralph Nader” uttered in his presence.

This Libertarian pizza deliverer could cost Republicans the Senate.

That assessment sounds overdramatic. Unmentioned in the posted article is the historical fact that support for third party candidates, especially relatively unknown ones, tends to diminish as the election approaches.
