Impeachment off, GOP fears it will rally Obama Democrats
Washington Examiner ^ | June 6, 2014 | Paul Bedard

Despite anger in many quarters of the nation over the president's prisoner swap, Republicans are backing off impeachment threats because they fear it would rally President Obama's Democratic base and kill the GOP's chances to win the Senate, according to congressional insiders and sources.

“150 days out from a general election is not a realistic time to begin such a solemn and Constitutionally important process,” said one advisor to House GOP leaders.

I see one of two outcomes. Balkanization or collapse. We are in a country evenly divided and it will not change much one way or the other.

Eventually the left and their GOP supporters will force the issue. They will legislate and regulate the country apart and eventually people will understand that wishes aren’t horses.

John Stuart Mill, in an address at the University of St. Andrew (1 February 1867) : Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.///

This is what is happening now.

Just tell the GOPe that Obama is really a tea party conservative.

They’ll go after him so fast it will make your head spin.

This is the correct route. There is absolutely no chance of Obama being impeached and removed from office as things stand currently. <

True.

But isn't this like taking the "military option" off the table in negotiations with an adversary?

While the decision might be wise, announcing it is stupid.

The principle of the law and decency is never popped. It's the very issues that the administration is trying to circumvent.

Nice attitude CEW.

Look dude…..I don’t create reality, but I do recognize it. Take your self righteousness and stuff it.

It may have escaped your teeny brain, but “principles” do not convict anyone of anything ever period. PEOPLE do, and the people in this little vignette are ALL POLITICIANS. I don’t disagree with you on principle at all. You’re just a pollyanna

Reality. Learn it, live it.

Exactly. The Democrats aren’t concerned about making anyone angry, in fact that’s part and parcel of their politics. Make outrageous statements, ie. White Privilege. Next, when their opponents get angry, “See what those racists are like”.

They are working their way toward putting us in jail, taking our freedom of speech and assembly and we’re worried about offending them? “Look what happened when the right wing loonies tried to impeach Clinton - Danger, Danger Will Robinson!!” A polite and decent Bush got torn to pieces by Obama who used personal attacks as a central element of his politics. He’s still running against the evil Bush. Obama is an arrogant prick but we can’t openly say so - look at the code speak at FOX.

Sorry, I’m really angry. Six or more soldiers died trying to rescue a traitor and his platoon mates are being investigated and trashed. The sorry SOB in chief celebrates the Taliban’s victory.

More people need to be angry. Anger directed properly is a good thing.

they concerned themselves with protecting the office.

unfortunately, they didn’t realize that the guy occupying the office didn’t give a crap about it (tho they should have, given the reason for impeachment)

they can’t mince words when the press is covering for those committing treason.

That is why I say it’s better to vote for 80% allies ...<

... A great plan, if they're 80 percent. The thing is, they're not even three percent.

Well I’m glad to know I live rent free in your head - but you haven’t laid a logical finger on my argument, and I’ve destroyed yours - even while recognizing the part where you were correct.

This has been a rout.

The Democrats began planning the impeachment and removal of Richard Nixon the day after he was re-elected with 520 electoral votes and 60.8% of the popular vote.

But, of course, they had balls and a strategy.

People urging compromise and giving up principles BEFORE they’re even in a position to negotiate are beneath contempt. I’d approve an outright FR ban on them.
