Awful, certainly, the man was terrible and boring as a debater. About every third or fourth sentence he deferred to his campaign website. Really, that sounds fake? What does the guy really feel like saying on the spot?

Carter and Clinton overdo it to the point of being intrusive, especially Carter. But W hasn't been completely silent. He has popped up two or three times to insult the base concerning their objections to amnesty, and a few months back his remarks concerning "the isms" that come up from time to time.
But not a word from W as Obama throws away most all possibility that any good will come from all the US has invested in Iraq and Afghanistan. At least Cheney had a few relevant things to say recently.

Honorable mention to Coolidge, Polk and Jackson, along with Monroe, Madison and Jefferson. Cleveland was pretty good too.
Aside from Reagan and Coolidge, NONE were from the 20th or 21st Century.

I think the concept of a candid, unscripted interview is a thing of the past; politicians have seen how honesty can end a career. BJ Clinton couldn’t give take questions from an independent media because of his affairs; now the Kenyan Pirate hides behind a teleprompter (even with schoolchildren). Very creepy...
Does it make up for the only relevant measure of him - his failed Presidency? - Not even close. And it never will.

I certainly wish the world were like Rand and his father imagine. It clearly is not.
Even Jefferson constituted the marines to attack the Muslim pirate base when this nation was relatively unknown.
In the 21st world, America has a a massive target on its back and any idea of ignoring violent extremist movements is a fools errand. We don’t have to take over every corner of the world as Paul straw mans but we must be continually engaged at undermining these groups with all of our means covert, economic, collaboration, reconnaissance and yes military.
No empire in human history has been better positioned to pull this off than America. It can be done. The Nazis lost, the Japanese lost, the Korean radical tied us. America is strong enough to defeat her enemies but the public must not be deceived about how we are “losing” when we are not.
North Korea, China (ground forces) and the Soviet Union (air forces) were trying to take the whole peninsula, we were defending South Korea.
We won, we defended South Korea. They lost, they failed to take over South Korea. At no point did the US/UN attempt to take over North Korea as far as I know.
W tried to pass amensty too.

GWB walked a daily mine field just about every day of his Presidency, the second term being of monumental proportions. He was either dodging bullets from media or from Democrats. He was assaulted with trumped up scandals, innuendo, speculation and out right lies, one right after the other. Valerie Plame, Katrina, AbuGraib, Iraq WMD, illegitimate first election, and the list could go on. EVERYTHING that happened during his two terms, were “UNDER HIS WATCH.” Hell, Obama isn’t watching anything except TV after the fact, so he isn’t held accountable for anything.
It is tough to understand what keeps North Korea from falling at this point. Look how long the Soviet Union, Cuba, Zimbabwe and other basket cases keep operating.

He cared for the country? Could have fooled me. He ran huge deficits (no where near today of course) and made a mess of the wars.
I blame him for our illegal problem with his GOPe thinking.
