I have read some about the riots goind on due to the shooting death of Michael Brown and it started me thinking of something. I do not want anyone reading this post to think I sympathize with the rioters. I do not. But I think we should start to seriously question eitehr the training of police or how they recruit.
I do not know how this esculated into a shooting. I have read and heard that police ordered a kid to walk on the sidewalk and not the street and it got nasty from there. However, not a week goes by that a story hits the news about some bad action by a police officer. Whether it is beating up a homeless woman, a mistaken home entry, shooting a dog (lots of those), whatever. If it was always in one city or local, than a person could say something is wrong with the police procedures or leadership of that area. But when it happens across the nation, that leads me to think that something is seriously wrong with either police training procedures or the type of people that become police officers.

Another thing I want to add. Due to either this type of police training or the people they recruit, it makes me wonder what side they will be on when our society starts to collapse. Any thoughts on that?
Just like in every walk of life, some good, some bad. The bad ones get all the attention. I read the description of what happened by the guy that was with the one that was killed. I tend to believe him.
Suggest we wait for ALL THE FACTS to come out before we start condemning the police.
I think people should ask themselves why this sort of thing tends to happen in certain neighborhoods and what kind of society creates those police.
My little township doesn’t even have police. We have to contract with the county by law but they don’t come out here unless they’re called. I think the last time I saw one here was last fall.
We live in a police state. Every federal agency has some sort of law enforcement wing. Every state and county has swat teams. I live in a small city of 40,000 and we have a full time swat team. Many towns have some sort of military vehicles/equipment. With all of that, don’t you think that most of these agencies are over trained and chomping at the bit to take any and all of us down?
And where will we get those “facts”? From the police?
I say the police have evolved into controlling monsters. Why order a kid to walk on the sidewalk except as a ridiculous show of authority?
They prey on the communities they are supposed to serve, they enjoy putting choke holds on harmless people, harassing kids, shooting dogs.
They take steroids which make them nasty and short tempered. They like being dominant, in other words they abuse their power.
Instead of letting the situation in Fergusson calm down, they showed up in all their scary ugliness with their sticks and riot uniforms and tear gas. Idiots. I am livid about the police conduct in this thing.
I have deep respect for LE officers. They always have an element of danger in their lives and most of them deal with the dark side characters of life - the basement people. It is a tribute they are not all in a mental hospital because of years of such experiences. God bless them all!!
The thug was a walking in the street instead of the sidewalk. The cop pulled up and said “Get on the sidewalk”. The thug didn’t acknowledge him and kept walking. The cop pulled up and tried to get out of the car. The thug pushed the cop back against the car and went for his gun (cop’s account.) the cop pulled and shot said thug.
If the account by the cop is true, then; suicide by cop.
Is the cop telling the truth? I do not know.
“When you are a hammer, everything looks like a nail”, my cousin is a retired NJ State Trooper, second generation and on the job for the right reasons.
I asked him one night over dinner, what is the hardest part of your job? His answer surprised me, he said “when you deal with the dregs of society on a daily basis, it wears on you and you begin to see everyone in the same light, you must constantly remind yourself that they are not.

Currently, JohnnyLaw is trained to view anyone who is not a LEO is a “hostile” (enemy).
That is the “point of change” needed.
I can agree with to a point about certain neighborhoods. But two stories recently in the news. One - the police officer beating on the homeless woman alongside the road. Two - the story where the police is looking for some guy and end up shooting a dog because the dog challenged the officer when the officer walked into the dogs yard. Especially the last story, what does that have to do with certain neighborhoods. And don’t forget how the police were pointing their weapons at homeowners when they were searching for that Boston bomber.
Their own side. Thug-cops will try to become local warlords. . .
However, I just get the feeling that because someone has a uniform, badge, and gun, they can order people on the sidewalk. I can somewhat understand that maybe there might be a disrespect for authority but is that against the law? Is it the law that we - as citizens - have to do everything a police officer says? And if we don't obey what the officer says, do we then go into the disobeying side and thus subject to arrest?
I don't know if they take steroids or not, but I have long felt that the police are not our friends. And while we may it is in certain neighborhoods, I know from personal experience that they - the police - consider all of us the enemy.
This ‘walking in the street’ is a form of passive aggression.
I see this all the time when I have to cruise to downtown Buffalo. Some moron will cross the street at a nice leisurely pace right in front of you, taking his time and allmost daring you to run him over.
I heard the “thug” was shot serveral times, 35 feet from the police car, and that he was running away. What is the truth?

Why was a kid walking in the middle of the street? You can get killed like that.
