Well I’m poor now primarily because of their belief in and gullibility of The One. Does that make them happy. Pobably but that’s much more telling about them than it is me.

This is fantastic! Here’s how it works: it doesn’t really exist because as the author says, there is no or badly shrinking benefit therefrom, but that’s an unfortunate delusion for those so afflicted. See, there’s nothing delusional about saying that something that does not exist actually DOES exist, because that allows a magazine article that self-assumes that the writer is so smart and perceptive that he can see stuff that doesn’t exist but claim that it actually DOES exist! Especially if there’s no evidence that it exists!

It is not comfortable at all for any white American to read the case assembled by Ta-Nehisi Coates in his magisterial reported essay “The Case for Reparations” that American society has not done nearly enough to erase the cultural and historical debt left behind by 250 years of slavery followed by another century-plus of economic discrimination, political suppression, institutionalized theft and straight-up terrorism. “It is as though we have run up a credit-card bill and, having pledged to charge no more, remain befuddled that the balance does not disappear,” Coates writes. “The effects of that balance, interest accruing daily, are all around us.”

I wish I knew just what this “white privilege” was supposed to involve, I would have taken advantage of it long ago.

I have wound up on the wrong side of “affirmative action” several times, so maybe I HAD been given some kind of pass for years leading up to those incidents, but it sure didn’t feel like at the time.

Probably doesn’t help my case any that I have a rather abrasive personality, or so I have been told.

But then, nobody is ENTIRELY insulated from the consequences of personal choices.
