>>What? I was suppose to read the content before commenting?
When did that become a rule?<<
If that was the case we would have 1/100th the posts we do...
:) ;)
You should pay 10x the fee. Worst poster ever.
Gummer hummer is the worst poster on FR. He’ll get his someday. The bigger they think they are, the harder they fall.
Should you put “[Not Satire]” in the title of this article? ;-)
Considering how many high level government officials have left office to accept very lucrative lobbying jobs, there was no reason to not believe the post you mention was satire. $77M/yr isn’t unreasonable compensation for someone able to earn the company $XB/yr.
The problem with modern satire is that it is indistinguishable from real headlines.
Actually, there probably are several improbable probabilities in which this thread actually is satire.
A small infinite improbability drive could reveal the improbable probabilities where that actually would be true (that this is in fact satire).

.
Today’s satire just didn’t read yesterday’s headlines.
/sarc
(It's a damned shame I even hafta say so)
Needed to be repeated.
I look forward to your clearly labeled satire pieces, John. You are part of fabric of this great site.
Thank you. A good policy. So often the left manages to do and say things that sound like parodies of what the left does and says, it will be good to have actual satire identified in advance.
Classical Mythology. one of a class of woodland deities, attendant on Bacchus, represented as part human, part horse, and sometimes part goat and noted for riotousness and lasciviousness.
Or is that redundant?
Long overdue.
It is more than taking the “fun” out of it. It is presenting a partial truth, and perhaps a full truth of actual thought. Upon being found that I have been “had” - it emphasizes the point of how close to the truth the article is.
OTOH, I have gotten better at reading a few lines and then looking to see if it is satire or not. And still continued reading and enjoyed the articles and got the point.
I hope that John will keep posting his satire articles in spite of having to include the “satire” in the headline. If only to tweek Humblegunner. /semi-satire
The guy who develops Satire and Sarcasm fonts for the internet will be my hero..
In today’s political and cultural climate, I can understand your cynicism, but the
guys were just happy to have met for the first time after years of talking on FR.
And I got a nice bear hug from Laz, too, right in front of my tall, handsome
husband, Bryan (not FReeper Bryan). Brave guy, that Laz.
The photo got some really nasty comments back then. Don’t try reading their
minds nearly two years later, please?
And you’re right keyword texascowboy will take anyone to the Texas Cowboy
and Texas Cowboy Memorial Shoot threads.
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding your post. John is complying with Jim’s wishes. I went back and read all the post and I didn’t see a complaint from John Semmens. If Jim Robinson thinks he’s abusing the site then Jim can certainly tell him - and directly. I was merely stating that I enjoy John’s post, would not want to see them moved and that often in my hast to read all headlines I miss the sarc label. Others have stated the same. I get Jim’s concern about how Google posts (didn’t know about that before I posted) and I get that you support his concern as do I. It just seems to me you might be too eager in your reach for the moral high ground.
Three times, actually. The reasons escape me. And I have no blog to pimp. Try to pay attention.
Go away.
No.
But thanks for asking.
