Nunn Leads Perdue By 3 in New SurveyUSA Poll
Peach Pundit ^ | October 15, 2014 | Jon Richards

11 Alive has released the results of a new SurveyUSA poll that for the first time in their series of polls shows Michelle Nunn in the lead for the Georgia Senate race against David Perdue. The poll shows Democrat Michelle Nunn with 48%, Republican David Perdue with 45%, and Libertarian Amanda Swafford with 3%. 4% of voters remain undecided. While the margin of error is 4.2%, meaning that the two could conceivably be tied, that’s likely no consolation.

Looking at the poll’s crosstabs, the electorate is assumed to be 61% white, 27% black, 7% Hispanic and 5% Asian. That potentially underestimates the black vote, which is overwhelmingly in favor of Nunn, by about two percent. And, if the poll is correct in reflecting the ultimate vote, a 50/50 split among undecideds could bring Nunn a win without a runoff.

The pollsters note how Perdue is losing support from groups previously on his side:

Week-on-week, Nunn has gained ground among men, where she now trails by 3. (Five weeks ago, she trailed among men by 19.) Among Independents, Nunn has closed to within 6 of Perdue (she had trailed by 28 points among Independents in August). In greater Atlanta, Nunn had led by as few as 10 points, but today leads by 22.

I hate liberal dims as much as the next Freeper, but do you realize that Nunn's lifetime 45% ACU rating is similar to several GOP RINOS in the senate right now?

My point was that there was a time when there were decent moderate democrats who at least cared for this country. Has he taken a left turn since leaving the senate? Now that is another topic.

At least at my county level, they have been openly hostile to TEA Party types and small-l libertarian-leaning members. These two groups represent much of the new blood into the party.

We don’t call Republicans “the stupid party” without a reason. Still better than our totalitarian-leaning Leftists in the Democrat party, but sheesh, how stupid can you be and be effective?

Correct. You must have 50% plus one vote to avoid a runoff in GA.

Nunn hasn’t taken ANY turn since leaving in the mid 90s. He’s installed himself on multiple Boards of Directors and connected with the University of Georgia, etc. In my day we called that feathering one’s bed.

He is often referred to as a military expert, etc. The reason why is that he self-touted that whenever he could.

If you want to know about a Georgia Democrat that was a friend to the military, the safety of this country and the sanity of its government, look at a truthful biography of Representative Larry MacDonald.

As far as I’m concerned Michelle Martin nee’ Nunn has little experience except for being given a largess job directing the Points of Light Foundation and not much else.

Lastly, she’s just another politician who is cold, calculating and deceptive. Think back to a Hillary Rodham Clinton which emerged when she was distancing herself from the Clinton name and that became Hillary Clinton again when the heat blew over. In reality, she’s a lockstep mouse who will nibble at the feet of Obama and whoever replaces him (if they win in 2016).

Poll was taken before she was asked about voting for Obama and not answering.

This should be a slam dunk for the GOP.

I’m not all that happy with Perdue but GOD HELP US IF SHE PREVAILS. She’ll be a sock puppet for obozo & dingy Harry Reid!
This is what is sinking Grimes in Kentucky. Hope it sinks her here in Georgia!

It’s my impression that the Georgia Republican establishment is very upset with an outsider winning the primaries for the U.S. Senate. And for that reason they are lackluster and reluctant to actively campaign for David Purdue. This is a man I know and respect and totally confident will be a sound voice for Georgia.

Thanks for your comment. We’re at a point where we really need 535 bulldogs like Tree Gowdy if we’re to have ANY hope of turning the tide.

The Wall Street Journal article today features Michelle None and daddy Sam. Plain evidence of national image building of this unqualified puppet.

Earlier tonight on FNC's "Special Report with Bret Baier" I heard reporter John Roberts say: "Georgia is a Red State that has been slowly turning Purple..."

Is that true???

I've always thought of Georgia as a deep Red State...

It is most certainly true. The republicans have pissed off thetheir base. The pubes have been acting like democrats for a long time now.

Well, Georgia certainly has been infested with a plethora of illegal aliens and with Democrats from other states coming here to take advantage of the availability of jobs (that is, IF you want to work). Then there is the high instances of people on EBT (food stamps, TANF, WICs, Section 8, ObamaPhones, getting EITC, etc.)

In my county of 30,000 (96% white, 1% black, and 3% other) ONE in FIVE (20%) are on food stamps. If you can’t convince a person to be Democrat on platform, convince them in their pocket. And that is what has been happening.

Still, I don’t think Michelle Martin nee’ Nunn will win. Nor will Jimmy Carter’s grandson.

I have absolutely no like for Perdue, but I will crawl over broken glass to vote for him. It remains to be seen how he will comport himself if he wins. If he starts lock-stepping with Johnny Isakson that will be the telltale.
