The Insiders: Democrats are limping to the finish line (exempt Landrieu throws in the towel)
Washington Post ^ | 10/31/14 | Ed Rogers

Posted on 11/03/2014 5:07:16 PM PST by Libloather

With just a few days remaining before the midterm elections, the Democrats are limping to the finish line. We are in the closing days of the 2014 campaign, and in Democratic campaigns across the country, none of the real issues are being discussed. There is no justification for the Democrats to declare there is peace and prosperity, and certainly none of them are promoting a message of hope and change. The Democrats’ campaigns have been a series of denials, comical disassociation and outright clumsy lies that will only further alienate voters from the political process.

Say what you want to about the Republicans’ lack of a message, but the Democrats – the party in power – are clearly exhausted. Starting with the White House, they have nothing affirmative to say, and the final days of campaigning appear to be more about who is to blame rather than how to turn out the vote. In some of the closest races around the country, the Democrats are desperately attempting to hold on to power.

Senator Mary Landrieu is throwing in the towel. She dealt the race and gender cards all in one desperate hand in an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, where she claimed that the people who elected her in the past have actually been sexist all along. And, she blames racism for the president’s unpopularity in Louisiana – not his incompetence, the stagnant economy or the president’s anti-oil and gas agenda that has such a big impact on the state. She appears to be auditioning for a job with the Obama Administration (which won’t require her to return to Louisiana anytime soon.) I wonder if she has already whispered to the White House where she would like to serve as an Ambassador.

I hear the post in Liberia is open.

The French had reason to feel the same way about the Continental Army and its not-so-stellar record of accomplishment, but I’m kind of glad they decided to help out anyway.

Unlike others, I will not beg you to vote. But I will ask you to do this. Every time you complain about what is happening, begin the comment like this: I KNOW I SHOULD NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING BECAUSE I DID NOT VOTE, BUT I AM GOING TO DO IT ANYWAY.

Maybe you can make that your tagline.

I ask you to vote, for one reason. I think this is the last vote that will give us any chance at all to hold off what’s just around the corner. I don’t think 2016 holds hope for a lot of things, not just politics.

Ted Cruz is vowing to go to the mat if the Republicans take the Senate. I want to see that.

Now let's give her and her family the credit they are due.

They have held the NO levi and pump station contracts since they began.

And Mary is on heck of a ventriloquist. During Katrina you could barley see her lips move when she gave Blank-0 the words to speak.

"Ignore goldstategop; he/she/it has surrendered and will have no impact except to try to influence others with his/her/its miasma, i.e., trolling."

Bingo.

There are more than a few Democrat Underground trolls here.

They ply themselves as prissy conservatives who will not vote for anyone other than the most pristine conservatives and will try to get you to stay home as well. They lie. Tell them to pack sand. Vote.

RIghtwardHO is another one.

Since you’re in California, there is a good chance your vote is meaningless, anyway. Stay home. Anyway, I bet you’d rather roll up in a fetal position and suck your thumb.

What makes you think it will happen?

What makes you think it won't? Why would the GOP NOT want to push Keystone for example. Do you have any evidence that they are not in favor of fossil fuels?

Do you think Inhofe is a RINO? He's one of the most conservative Senators in DC. This is our chance to see a conservative in the lead on the Environment committee. What's wrong with voting for that? Jeff Sessions head of Budget? He's also a strong conservative.

Do you think Cruz is campaigning because it makes no difference if Reid's in charge? If so, you're clueless.

>> Since you’re in California

Not any more... see hisher homepage. heshe moved to Colorado.

That means heshe will be rolling up into a fetal position and sucking hisher thumb in a state where hisher vote might actually MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!

Well, I guess heshe will enjoy hisher governor Hickenpooper and hisher senator Uterus for a few more years, should that come to pass.

Damn Californians have been moving to and screwing up Colorado for thirty years. Glad I moved away... no plans to return.

The GOP is running to better manage the status quo than the Democrats.

Why do you include GOP in your screen name if you show no support? And you post that on Free Republic.

One person’s vote rarely matters as it turns out.

...not voting for a republican is a mistake.

We hear that on Free Republic in every election, but let me ask you this:

When a 'Republican' has proven beyond a shadow of doubt that he is an abject traitor to everything the party supposedly stands for, at what point do you withhold your vote from him/her?

Where do you personally draw the line?

In the last election, we had a Republican nominee whose record in office was the envy of liberal Democrats everywhere, yet we were told by all and sundry that we MUST give him our vote to fire the dreaded liberal Democrat in office.

Now, that same shameless big government liberal is out talking about how the first order of business after winning back the Senate should be passing an amnesty bill.

WTF - over?

And many in this community still think he's our friend.

Yes, I understand the argument that a flip-flopping, unreliable faux Republican is better by far than a dyed-in-the-wool Marxist, but again -- where do you draw the line on giving your support to politicians who simply wear your team jersey, while actively supporting and advancing the agenda of the left?

That depends on the Republican. And Mitch and Jonbon are two that should NEVER get a vote from anyone but a liberal. In fact, thats the ONLY votes they will get. Because anyone to the right of Bill Clinton would never do it.

Where do you personally draw the line?

You draw the line in the primary. After that you get on the team or else you keep your mouth shut.

C’mon Goldstate. Get with the program.

You’re supposed to give your unreserved support to the guys who are driving the country over the cliff at a sedate 55 mph - rather than those wild and crazy fools who are flooring it over the same cliff at 85.

I don’t understand why you can’t see the logic in this.

Romney's connection to the Republican party, his own words, his own mouth!

youtube sec :24

IOW He's NOT a Republican in any way shape or form PERIOD.

I gladly vote for Republican candidates, when the Republicans run one.

Why can't the Republicans run one, instead of mirror images of the DNC candidate?

I’m not a fool. The GOP hasn’t done a thing to earn my vote.

So you decided to bend over and take it. Congratulations. Hope you enjoy it. Bring a condom.
